Growth Within Structure Project Outline: Working within an existing shell to design a boutique hotel with 3 room types, lobby and a public space. The intent was to take an existing building, modeled on the Alhambra Palace and to retain its charm while modernizing it to the demands of the jet set. Ensuring a clear distinction between pre-existing elements and updated features to show the buildings growth through modernization. Extending beyond the architecture to lighting, garden design and furniture with a juxtaposition of antique furnishings housed within a modern space. Visible lighting fixtures are reduced to antique wrought iron pieces with remaining light done through linear coves. The gardens also showcase the central contrast of new and old with the courtyard gardens conforming to a restrained traditional pattern while the suite gardens are elevated with large concrete and cedar blocking. The physical incorporation of plants throughout the hotel serves as an alternate and more visceral interpretation of growth, that heightens the dichotomy between the fresh face of the old structure.

The suites are to act as a place of peace and relaxation. They have minimal furnishings and each is directed towards the garden baths that are featured in every room. Each features a pop of brightly patterened wallpaper to break up the uniform plaster walls that function as an alternative to framed art.
Facet Faceted Illumination Project Outline: The creation of a high end jewelry retailer that called for both semi- precious and diamond displays, consultation rooms and display for a well tailored collection of accessories; from watches to fragrances. An atmospheric, highly stylized space with numerous sharp shiny angles that catch the light like a jewel. The lighting and surfaces are to be subdued so that the eye is drawn to the sparkling merchandise, with minimal daylighting trickling in through the metal paneled facade.. The finishes and lighting in the retail space are intended to be dim, with the cove lighting evoking a spiders web on the ceiling. The low lighting is intended to allow for contrast to the illuminated displays but also to provide an almost surreal experience that has just a twinge of the eerie.

Pediatric Clinic Soothing Efficiency Project Outline: A private clinic that caters to mothers with young children. Needed to have 8 exam rooms, nurse stations, doctors offices, break room, a in house lab and pharmacy. These space is intended to be a very calming experience for all involved. It uses colors pulled from nature, and natural stone finishes to move away the sterile medicinal feel of many such locations. Most importantly every exam room has an entire glass wall that opens to the outside on a solid and transparent growth of tall bamboo. These large scale bamboo terrariums are also visible from many heavily traveled areas of the facility, to provide tranquility not just to the patients but daylighting for the staff.

Digital Rendering Silas Robbinson Home Project Outline: Duplicate the facade of a building of choice trying to capture it as accurately as possible I singled out a second empire home to learn how to add and create the type of decorative elements that help to distinguish a one of a kind home. I learned how to build columns, did a lot of work actualizing the three distinct railings on the home, in addition to working a lot on the homes textures to mimic the original.

Revit Families Project Outline: Capture the essence of existing furniture pieces within Revit. I tried to choose pieces that would help to broaden my skills with Revit, and help me master the different ways to manipulate the various transformative tools to create furniture.
Spindle Cowrie Luxe Getaway Project Outline: Renovation of existing condo in Palm Cove, Australia: 2 bedrooms, living and dining rooms. Intended for use both as personal home while in residence, also functioning as a rentable property. The owners wanted to create a luxe relaxing retreate for themselves that would be able to hold its own while when being utilized as a rental. Wanted to make the space clean and streamlined, while accentuating the views. Chose finishes with renters in mind; dark micro-suede sofas, medium colored tropical hardwood flooring for the bedrooms, and a palette of cool soothing browns and neutrals. Went with sleek modern lighting fixtures and art to update the feel of the space. Specified horizontally linear blinds, accented with a similar tropical hardwood as the floors, to accent the views of lush forest.

Scandinavian Cabin Homey Modern Retreat Project Outline: Create a space based on Scandinavian Design wherein you will create every piece of furniture within the space in Revit and ensure that it is consistent with design style. Wanted to really embrace wood in all forms as evocative of Nordic design, did this through textures and finishes in this space. Used the same exterior paneling on the interiors of all of the building shell walls. Chose a rich white ash for the flooring throughout the space. Chose to accent the space with recognizable Scandinavian designs such as the Wegner Wishbone Chair and coffee table, while finding less iconoclastic pieces for the rest of the space.
Inspiration Wanderlust I have always been intrigued by the environments in which individuals dwell, the way space is internalized by different cultures. I am drawn into the details and uniqueness of places that catch my attention; always trying to pinpoint what it is that makes the space uncommon, eye catching, or functional. I took a circuitous route to Interiors having focused upon architectural history for my previous BA in Art History; which led me to the pursuit of a degree in Interior Design. I garner most of my inspiration by reflecting back on places and spaces experienced while traveling. Living abroad off and on; travel has been a constant, influencing the way I see and reflect upon my surroundings. I love to take in new cultures, architecture, people, and, a somewhat more recent development, different cuisines. I am eternally thankful to my family and friends for providing this insight and for being wonderful company along the way.
