MaryAnn makes strides with the help of her amazing support system
Tupperware has always been a part of my life. My mom had Tupperware and she went to parties. Later, when I joined the USAF and left home, my grandmother sent me off with her orange canisters and some other classic pieces. Fast forward to after my military career, we were living in Germany (my husband’s last USAF assignment) and I went to a succession of Tupperware parties. After seeing the Modular Mates® containers and deciding that I must have ALL my food in them, I realized that getting them at a discount would be wise. I called the Consultant and had her sign me up. At first, Tupperware® products changed my kitchen by organizing and preserving my food. Then it began supplementing my pension. My third son was born as I was retiring from the USAF. My other sons were eight and 10, and I absolutely did not want to work a “traditional” job. I was more than ready to be a stay-athome mom! Tupperware could provide that opportunity for me. Now, they are all grown and I have the privilege of being able to be a caregiver for my husband. He loves coming to meetings and parties with me. I joke that it’s “take your husband to work day” every day. In addition to having the flexibility to take care of my husband, it was August 2016 that I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My wonderful team and my supportive Business Leader, Michele Womble, were so available to help with 8
whatever I needed. That got me through my surgery in November, followed by four months of chemo. Michele Womble and Scot Townley, one of my Managers, even came to put up my Christmas tree and decorate my house for the holidays. In January of 2016, I made the decision to step down as Director. One of my mantras is to pray like it’s all up to God, then work like it’s all up to me. I was having a hard time imagining how I could do my job and continue to care for my husband as his condition deteriorates. I told my leader at that time and she convinced me to stay until the end of January. Then when she left and Michele was promoted to Business Leader, I was asked to stay on until the company business transition was complete. As I continued to succeed, I stayed, and I discovered that it was ok to take my husband with me to parties and meetings. My team sales continue to grow and I’m so glad I didn’t step down when I felt I had to. Thank God! —MaryAnn Medford, Star Director Marietta, GA
