BREAST CANCER T-SHIRT CHECK MATE WAYFINDING WEBSITE POSTER SERIES RESUME COVER LETTER

ARENESS W A R E C N A C T S BREA This t-shirt was designed for a group of runners participating in the Fight for a Cure run in Springfield, IL. The runners wanted to pay tribute to the qualities and virtues of the victims and fighters of Breast Cancer. They wanted it to be clear that they were running not just to raise money for a cure, but to honor the people they know who have experienced the fight. The race took place in April 2014 in Springfield, IL and there were 20 runners runners wearing this t-shirt.

CHECK MATE Going out to dinner or drinks in a group is always a tricky situation. You want to make it easy and just split the bill into equal parts and let everyone leave their own tip. However, no matter how small or large your group is, there’s always that one person who pipes in with “I only had one drink and everyone else had two, so...” And the awkward silence ensues. But, what’s fair is fair, and that’s how the idea of Check Mate came about. Check Mate uses the same photo recognition software as banking apps that allow you to deposit checks by taking photos of the checks on your phone. Check Mate allows you to take a picture of the receipt, then select how many ways you will be splitting, assigns each person a different color, and allows everyone to select which line items they will be paying for. Any item that is selected more than once will be split.

P O S T E R S E R IE S Living in Cincinnati, studying architecture, and training for a half marathon. All things that sparked and contributed to my love and respect for bridges. Cincinnati is located on the Ohio River and is connected to Kentucky by a series of bridges. I crossed those bridges to go to the grocery store. I crossed them 10 times when marathon training took us in loops from state to state. I crossed them for Oktoberfest. Bridges are a very primitive invention, but it is truly amazing how much they expanded the world. They are also very graphic in their design. The structure is repetitive, the line cross, the arc in the bridge is a reflection of the arc in the cables, and they are typically symmetrical over the water. I wanted to exploit the graphic quality of these architectural feats through a series of monochromatic vector posters.

Hiring Manager, I am writing with interest in the Environmental Graphic Designer position you have available at your new downtown Chicago office. I have almost 2 years of professional design experience with architecture firms in Illinois and Ohio. I am currently employed as an architectural/interior designer and have been doing some environmental design, but aspire to transition into a full environmental graphics role. My design experience has been primarily working with nation-wide retail companies and large corporations. I have been involved in all aspects of the design, from space planning, to furniture and finish specifications, to marketing materials. I have always approached design with a holistic approach, and while I do think more graphically than architecturally, my background knowledge of three dimensional space and construction techniques can be invaluable when integrating graphics and branding messages into a space. I have recently taken on project management duties which has allowed me to prove myself as an effective communicator, organizer, and leader. I have been the go-between for all disciplines involved in the project such as landlords, developers, engineers, contractors, and most importantly clients. I have built connections with these people, as well as with the manufacturing representatives I have worked with. I would enjoy taking my career to the next level with The Maude Group. It is apparent that your company takes the same holistic approach to design that I do. I can see myself expanding my knowledge and creativity, and growing within The Maude Group. I hope that I am given the opportunity to advance in your selection, and I hope to hear from you soon.
