PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
As a flash back, the past Joint Turnover & Induction Ceremonies of the UAP Regional District - A5, held last 22 August 2014 at the Bulwagang Mayor, UAP National Headquarters was a great success. The oath taking ceremonies of Board Officers for CY 2014-15 was officiated by UAP National President Arch. Ma. Benita O. Regala, uap. Among the new members inducted by Hon. Fidel Jose R. Siapno, fuap were Arch. Marc Mesina, uap, and Arch. Fabian Fabia, uap from the UAP SJMC. The explicit attendance of 9 chapters illustrates how active District - A5 is as an organization. The number of attendees during the past UAP-San Juan Mandaluyong Chapter 2nd General Membership Meeting (GMM), held at the Shakeys Pizza Parlor, 500 Shaw Zentrum, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City last 28 August 2014, was as overwhelming as that of the 1st GMM. Presentation of several products were made by our sponsors , who simultaneously discussed their new innovations. A Briton national from the Water Brite, Inc. presented the new trend of fixtures which is more practical, effective and just the type we need as designers. Same goes with our friends in the industry from Crown Pipes and Wavetech. As keynote speaker, we invited Engr. Arnel M. Alvarez, a Master Plumber by profession who discussed on Green Design on Plumbing System. It was nice knowing that the literal importance of plumbing system is now focused to our profession as architects and is a part of the society and to this modern world on green revolution involvement. For the 3rd GMM, we are privileged to have Arch. Aristidez De Paz,uap as our speaker who will expound on the Building Information Management. Likewise, I would like to acknowledge our sponsors: Crown Pipes, Steeltech, E-Powergear and Sienet . Upcoming events include the World Day Architecture, the UAP San Juan Mandaluyong Chapter Anniversary and the District A5 Conference. In behalf of the UAP SJMC, as President, I would like to thank all our officers, members , friends and sponsors for their continuing support and partnership in our future opportunities. We build not for ourselves, but for the greater need of our service to members. God bless UAP San Juan-Mandaluyong Chapter! , UAP District A-5! community.

2ND GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
We invited Engr. Arnel M. Alvarez, a Master Plumber by profession who discussed on Green Design on Plumbing System. It was nice knowing the literal importance of plumbing system is now focused to our profession as architects and is a part of the society and to this modern world on green revolution involvement. According to Engr. Alvarez the solar water heating is an excellent way to reduce energy consumption. The average solar system for a typical home (see Figure 14-3) can save about two-thirds of the home’s yearly cost for providing domestic hot water. The energy savings for a commercial application are more difficult to precisely quantify, but they may be in the same range, depending on a variety of factors Rainwater reuse can help earn more than one credit: water use reduction, innovative wastewater, storm water management, and innovation in design. The captured water may be used for irrigation, flushing toilets, cooling tower makeup, or other uses. Various filtration methods may be necessary, depending on the final use of the water. Ideally, the storage tanks should be elevated, such as on the top floor of the building, to reduce or eliminate pumping requirements. Remember that tanks store water, but also can store pressure by permitting the stored water to flow by gravity. Static head increases with height. If the building is high enough to require multiple water pressure zones, multiple tanks can be located at varying levels, possibly with one tank cascading down to another.
