Bits and Pieces 10 x 33cm, hand coloured etching/aquatint, edition 20 This series of etchings was created in response to the brief for the National Trust Safe Keeping Exhibition in May 2012. There are many bits of china, rusted iron and other bits which have been discarded by the former inhabitants of our old convent. We often find these pieces. They are fascinating fragments of other people's lives. The plates are recycled aluminium.
Aspects of Amplexicaulis Hakea amplexicaulis (also aptly named Prickly Hakea) has large, attractive, scented flowers in spring. The leaves are sharply-pointed around the edges; they clasp the stem at the base (amplexicaulis=stem-clasping) and they dry to all shades of brown and pink. 30 x 14cm, hand coloured etching, edition 40.
Eucalyptus preissiana - a study A straggly mallee with lemon coloured flowers from the southwest coastal area of WA. 30 x 10cm, hand coloured etching, edition 40.
Cochlospermum fraseri - Kapok Bush A sub-tropical fruit produced by a small straggly tree. It has striped segments and holds seeds surrounded by a fluffy substance, hence the name Kapok Bush. 12 x 14cm, hand coloured etching, edition 40.
