The editor will be parLcularly interested in the overall visual qualiLes of your 3 final outcomes as submissions for publicaLon in the magazine. For my first set of iniLal photographs, I am going to be taking photographs of my model, in a long white dress to capture the innocent/ heavenly effect. I am also going to be using a forest as my backdrop for my model to create an autumn effect and also using the sombre colours of the leaves to contrast in the models clothing and make-‐ up.

ArLst Analysis – Andy Julia The photographer Andy Julia has captured my work in his work. I feel that Julia’s work is very aestheLcally Pleasing and has an innocent and vintage feeling to, With also a soY focus and subdued to an autumn affect Through different tones which are muted. Andy Julia’s work is very unique and different compared To different photographers as within his photographs You are immediately drawn to the focal point, which is The model his using and it’s rarely the background or Se8ng. He also uses sombre colours of clothing such as white and cream so the model stands out of the

Background of the forest. Andy also portrays the skin tones and beauty of the Model in the photograph, using autumn colours of brown, gold and red in her Make-‐up to related and link with the colours of the leaves in the background. The way Julia has captured the model in the orientated posiLoning is very Peaceful and ethereal and also shows the calming relaxaLon of the atmosphere. Andy Julia’s photographs have really inspired me in my own photographs in Many ways such as the light exposure and soY sombre effects of different tones Of the model and also the autumn tones of the backdrop. He has also Inspired me with the posiLoning of the models and angles to captured and Portray the quality of light and tones, through the props of clothing and beauty.

EvaluaLon My original intenLon for taking my first set of photographs was to explore the sense of ethereal fashion through giving an out of this world affect through the theme of heavenly and innocent. I wanted to use light exposure from natural light to give a soY and calming feel towards my photographs so give that theme of innocents and heavenly. EvaluaLng back towards my photographs, I had to improve and re-‐ photograph a variety of them due to the fact that they didn’t relate or fit into the ethereal fashion brief due to the clothing I selected. However when I improved my 1st iniLal photographs, I changed the clothing into something more elegant that fit the brief and also the theme. Therefore I believe that I have achieved through the process of the first iniLal photographs, even though I had to re-‐photograph a selecLon of my photos to improve them, I feel that I have learnt about the way to capture a photo with the light exposure and the variety of angles and close ups that why I believe I have achieved in this project. EvaluaLng and looking through my photographs the technical and visual qualiLes are preferably strong due to the range of angles whether they are shot above or below they give an unique affect of capturing different elements of the model and also background. As well as the light exposure that has been captured in a range of my photographs, which gives a soY affect and also I strong tone. I am very pleased with the set of my formal elements such as the composiLon of the photographs, such as capturing the model against a tree or on the ground as it gives different contrasts of the colour of the clothing and also the colour and tone of the leaves. This is because the colours in the photographs are very subdued and calming. On the other hand my 1st photograph shows the model against the tree which shows of the texture of the tree which is hard and rough and then contrasts with the model of the tone of her skin and also the face expression. Personally I think that the sort of visual impact of my photographs will impact on the viewers due to the range of the ethereal, out of this world effect as my photographs are quite calm with no sombre colours or bold textures and also the overpowering light exposure in some of the photos. so I believe that this soY effect would make the view relaxed due to the calming colours and also because you are mainly focused on the model and not the detailed rough textured background it gives a more heavenly effect towards the viewer. Overall I think that I have achieved the level and standard of my photographs are I personally think the clothing, background, tones and texture fit the ethereal fashion brief perfectly well. I also think that the viewer may be able to decipher the brief, however I also think they may not, due to the fact that I didn’t really use that much fashion in my photographs only a long grey dress and you can only see a top have of a brown leather jacket, so if I had to change or develop my anything in my photographs I would change and give more variety or clothing to the model to make the ethereal fashion brief more obvious.

Idea 2 Vogue Magazine is the fashion authority. Se8ng the standard for over 100 years has made Vogue the bestselling fashion magazine in the world. Before it’s in fashion, it’s in Vogue! To promote the Winter 2013 season, Vogue magazine has asked you to create a fashion story. The trend for the season is ‘Ethereal’ and the photographs should be locaLon (outside, not in a studio) based. The editor will be parLcularly interested in the overall visual qualiLes of your 3 final outcomes as submissions for publicaLon in the magazine. For my 2nd set of iniLal photographs I am going to be going opposite from the first set of photographs which were more ‘heavenly’ ethereal to taking my photographs to more ‘ghostly’ and more ‘haunted’ ethereal. I am going to be taking my photographs inside against a plain background and focus on the models face and their features such as their eyes, which I will be pu8ng heavy; dark make-‐up on them to give it that ghostly effect.

ArLst Analysis-‐ Eolo Perfido I have decided to choose and look at Eolo Perfido’s work because I think his work links with my second idea perfectly; I want to explore the idea of portraying portraits of females into a sinister and disturbing imagery. My intenLon is to create an uncomfortable experience for the viewer that makes them ask quesLons about the photography. To do this I am going to create a spooky and creepy affect using the focal point of the models face, capturing the face features of mainly the eyes to give an uncomfortable and scared feel on the viewer. Which made me quesLon to myself; why did Perfido decided to create such scary and un-‐easy portraits to photograph? Immediately you are drawn to the eyes, due to the effect that is portrayed which is ghostly and haunted, this is because you the heavy; dark make-‐up and also it clarifies to the viewer what feeling the model is trying to portray. I personally think that the subject macer of capturing a close-‐up of the models face is his strengthen as the picture tells a story behind it, through different emoLons of the face expressions. Perfido’s work is also shown by the orientaLon of the model whether they are relaxed of even ridged or nervous. I personally Think that the tones and shades with eolo’s work because I think it gives that more sense of mystery and an ghostly affect. EdiLng the photographs in back and white gives the photographs a more sense of tone and i preferably find it very strong and I think I will portray this within my second set of iniLal photographs because I want to create the same un-‐easy effect on the viewer as eolo Perfido has.

ArLst Analysis-‐ Chadwick Tyler

I have decided to also look at Chadwick Tyler’s photographs because he creates a variety of such intriguing and mysterious however yet beauLful, ethereal and evocaLve images by capturing young woman capturing their ‘cotemporary noLons of beauty’ by celebraLng their ‘innocence’ and ‘vulnerability’ through his well know black and white images. I personally chose Tyler’s work because his work is instantly iconic and relates to what I want to portray a evil and mysterious side in my Idea 2 photographs however sLll capturing that ‘innocence’ through the models face expressions and the way the composiLon of the models face and body is captured. I am also instantly drawn in as a viewer due to the powerful and prominent tones of the black and white contrast and brightness of the lighLng and also how they have been edited the photograph to create this uncomfortable effect on the viewer however sLll portray an innocence in the models looks and emoLon.

Developmental photographs

EvaluaLon for idea 2 For Idea 2 I wanted to go completely opposite from idea 1 which was more heavenly and innocent ethereal, using the forest as my background and using a long white dress to create loads of movement and also sombre coloured make-‐up tones for example-‐ light brown and golds to contrast the colours of the autumn leaves. So for idea 2 I wanted to make my photographs more haunted and ghostly because I wanted to create an un-‐ easy and uncomfortable affect. To do this I decided to portray the portraits of females into a sinister and disturbing imagery using heavy and dark make-‐up to create this affect using the focal point of the eyes to do this. Overall my intenLon was to create the uncomfortable effect to make the viewer raise quesLons about the photographs. Personally I think the technical and visual qualitles were very strong on the focusing however, overall looking back I think that I could have improved more on the lighLng of the photographs and given more of a strong contrast. On the other hand I find that the technical and visual affect of my photographs in the terms of the quality of my formal elements of composiLon, colour, tones and textures are strong because I think that the composiLon of the close-‐ups of my photographs gives more of a ghostly effect which fit my brief perfectly, it also helps with the different angles portrayed because it looks more bazar. I think that my photographs have achieved in what I wanted to achieve in creaLng a ghostly affect and creaLng a sinister affect which makes the viewer raise different quesLons. Which is what I wanted to symbolism.

EvaluaLon for final project When looking over on my whole project ethereal fashion, my original intenLon was to get the theme across of heavenly ethereal and then ghostly ethereal and also portray the fashion in this sort of sense to fit the brief that I was focusing on. Overall looking back on the technical and visual qualiLes of my photographs for both ideas, I think they are both in technically good quality and consideraLons of the focusing and lighLng because with my idea 1 of heavenly ethereal I wanted to get the focusing slightly un-‐focused to give that soY and innocent affect and also trying to use the lighLng of natural light of the sun to come through in some sort of sense to give that more relaxed feel. However with my idea 2 the focusing of the pictures where really strong and in focused to capture the strong details of the eyes that the emoLons were trying to portray and also the lighLng and tones of the ghostly I made strong due to the range of the ediLng I have done on the photographs which I have edited in black and white. The technical and visual qualiLes of my photographs in the terms of the quality of my formal elements of the composiLon, colour, tones and shapes and texture I think I have portrayed very well in my photographs because in my idea 1 I have used composiLon and shown different angles which create an out-‐ of this world affect on heavenly ethereal and also the colours are very sombre and show the autumn tones and textures of the leaves in the background. Overall I think that I have achieved the level of symbolism in my photographs creaLng two different ideas of ethereal of heavenly and ghostly, and portraying this the formal and consideraLons of the photographs which both fit the brief and also the themes of heavenly ethereal and ghostly ethereal creaLng the viewer to raise quesLons about the photos and whether they feel any emoLons towards them.
