Every single turkey is raised by the BN Ranch Team on the ranch of Bill and Nicolette Niman in Bolinas, California. These birds are raised in a humane and environmentallyresponsible manner. Direct descendants of Standard Bronze, Narragansett, and Spanish Black breeds, these are turkeys as nature intended them. The flock roams freely on grassy pastures most of the year, grazing and foraging to supplement their GMO-free, vegetarian diet. Unlike commercial turkeys, heritage birds are intensely flavorful on their own – like a good chicken or game bird – and require hardly any flavorings or additions to taste incredibly delicious.

Food-Friendly Wines and Bi-Rite Market Public Label Poe Pinot Noir, Sonoma County, CA 2014 $21.99 / 750 mL
Our Public Label collaborations embody one of the many ways we “create community through food,” by working with inspiring producers to make incredible products. For our 2014 Pinot Noir, we sourced our grapes from the Olcese Vineyard, one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Sonoma County. Planted in 1974 to the Martini clone, a California heritage clone of Pinot Noir, the vineyard’s fruit production had begun to wane. Eager for a better yield, the vineyard owner wanted to replant with younger vines. To save this historic fruit, our wine buyer Trac decided to buy all the grapes from this vineyard to make our own bottling. We asked one of the best Pinot Noir winemakers in California, Samantha Sheehan of Poe Wines, to make us a phenomenal and affordable wine with the beautiful grapes we found. Eric Bordelet is a former sommelier who worked at some of Paris’ top restaurants, including the famed L’Arpège. Believing that apples and pears can be made into cider of the same caliber as fine wine, he left his day job and became one of the top cider makers in France. Using amazing terroirs as the backbone of great ciders, he farms organically and biodynamically, a rarity in the cider world. Bordelet ciders are suitable for aging and get more complex with time. This is Bordelet’s “Grand Cru” pear cider. The fruit source is a row of 60-foot-tall, 300-year-old pear trees which produce intensely-flavored, miniscule fruit. The fruit produces a complex cider that can stand tall with any fine champagne. Perfect in less formal settings at any meal, it will also add some real class to a fine holiday dinner.
