We have been waiting for you and your unique gifts for 476 years (the first Jesuit school was founded in 1548!).
We are thrilled that you are considering becoming a member of our community. We are part of a much larger Jesuit mission and network, with almost 1,000 Jesuit schools all over the world.

Our faith community
At Jesuit, our students know that the Spirit of God is where our sense of community is the strongest. You’ll often hear classmates say, “Don’t miss a retreat,” or “You’ll love Friday Mass!” They may tell you to join Knights or Setons, or suggest you light a candle in the Chapel Grotto. These are all part of Campus Ministry, and many of our students find a home in its programs.
Service learning
Service at Jesuit isn’t only about giving back. We want students to reflect on their service, to gain understanding about the lives of others, and to witness how our society fails to take care of its most vulnerable members. These experiences move students to a place of compassion, which will guide them in the future. Jesuit requires three long-term service projects over a student’s four years.

From Encounter retreats to games, class projects to club activities, Jesuit is teeming with opportunities to build relationships. Determination. Integrity. Teamwork. Jesuit’s athletic program focuses on developing you as a whole person – just as much as it focuses on sports skills and techniques. Jesuit athletics are an opportunity for students to enjoy themselves through challenging activities while gaining selfconfidence and developing lasting friendships.
Jesuit offers 22 varsity sports and has 59 teams overall (including JV, JV2, and freshman teams and four no-cut sports)

Performing and Fine Arts
The arts draw us closer to God and help deepen our human connection. They also play an essential role in a holistic Jesuit education. Through our programs in instrumental and vocal music, theatre, and the visual arts, you’ll learn new forms of self-expression and ways to communicate. You’ll also see how the arts can help you develop your critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
From beginning guitar to advanced technical theatre, we offer more than 20 distinct Fine Arts classes to meet students at all levels of experience.
Each year, hundreds of students find a home in our nationally-recognized theatre program, which offers a full season of productions, including bigname musicals, comedies, dramas and several studentwritten and directed shows

Attend our Open House on Sunday, October 6, from 1-4 pm. Register for your visit time online starting September 13.
Register for your Shadow Day experience. Registration opens Friday, September 13.
Register and pay ($25) for the placement test (using your online account) for either date: Friday, December 6, or Saturday, December 7.

Complete your online application no later than Friday, January 10. Financial Aid applications are also due January 10.
Complete Record Release
and Teacher Recommendation Forms. Students should submit online requests for school recommendations and transcipts giving school officials plenty of time to complete the request before Wednesday, January 29.

Attend Family Interviews on either Saturday, January 25, or Saturday, February 1.
Application Process
Freshman Candidates
• Freshman applicants must submit applications by January 10, 2025. We encourage you to apply online at jesuitportland.org (click “Admissions”).
• Eighth grade applicants may participate in a “Shadow Day” experience. Registration opens September 13, 2024.
• Admissions decision notifications will be sent via mail on March 6, 2025 and posted online on March 8, 2025.
Transfer Candidates
• Transfer students may submit applications beginning February 1, 2025.
• Acceptable transfer applicants are placed on a waiting list, which is managed throughout the summer months.
• Transfer applicants may visit between the months of April-May. The Admissions Director will schedule these visits. Call 503-291-5422.
• Transfer applicants are interviewed between April and August.
Application Requirements
• Completed application form, including essays by the parent and student explaining why they want to become part of the Jesuit High School community.
• A $65 non-refundable application fee.
• Prior school records (grades, test scores) and recommendations from current school.
• Every freshman candidate is required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Jesuit offers the test on December 6 and 7, 2024.
• Family Interviews for freshman candidates will be held on January 25 and February 1, 2025.
Application Requirements
• School records, test scores, teacher recommendations, family interviews and application information are reviewed by the Admissions Committee, which is composed of Jesuit High School faculty members and administrators. The committee reviews the applications on the basis of Jesuit High School’s Mission Statement and The Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation.
• The Admissions Committee considers commitment to a faith community, academic record, character, relationship with peers and teachers, talents and interests, special circumstances, and the overall balance and diversity of the school community. Unfortunately, not every qualified applicant can be admitted.

Additional costs include books and fees, which average approximately $400$600 per year.
We charge less than the actual cost of tuition. In the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we are committed to making a Jesuit education affordable and accessible to as many qualified students as possible. The gap creates an annual operating deficit of $5.25 million, which must be filled by fundraising.
We ask Jesuit families who are able to:
• Give a tax-deductible donation above tuition. This gift can be paid monthly, annually, quarterly, or in full, and can be paid with a check or bankcard.
• Participate in our annual fundraisers.
• Contribute to our capital and endowment fundraising efforts.
Application and Enrollment Fees
A non-refundable fee of $65 is required when a student application is submitted. Upon acceptance, a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $1,000 is required. This payment is applied as a credit toward tuition. A convenient monthly tuition payment plan is available through FACTS.
Financial Aid
Some families may not be in a position to pay full tuition. Others may experience circumstances like unemployment, illness, disability, death, or divorce that suddenly reduce their income and ability to pay for a Jesuit High School education. We rely on fundraising to help such families in need.
While Jesuit High School does not offer merit-based or talent-based scholarships (including for athletics), the Board of Trustees has adopted a 2024-25 budget that includes $4.37 million in financial aid. Twenty-three percent of our student body currently receives financial aid, with an average grant of $12,500. Applicants must submit financial aid applications by January 10, 2025.
