The privately-owned construction, facilities management and investments contractor delivered the high-quality, multi-storey scheme following an intensive 33 month programme.

It was appointed by joint venture partners, Patten Properties and Panacea Property Development, on behalf of Invesco Real Estate, the global real estate investment manager, as part of its growing UK residential portfolio.

The new landmark property features 383 apartments which are a mixture of one, two and three bed that offer stunning views across the River Mersey and Albert Dock.

Designed by Leach Rhodes Walker Architects, The Copper House is framed around two concrete tower structures, with off-site podded bathrooms, and a system facade designed to withstand inclement riverside weather conditions.

It includes communal space, resident’s lounge and a private gym, alongside 1,000 ft² of ground floor commercial units.

Residents will also benefit from rooftop facilities, such as a garden space with flexible and fixed seating, booth seating areas with fire pits and fire tables, an outdoor covered kitchen, and a multiuse central space suitable for events or exercise. The area is enclosed by a 2m high glass balustrade to provide weather protection.

Peter Reavey, GRAHAM Construction director, believes The Copper House has set a new standard for residential accommodation in the city. He said: “GRAHAM is proud to have delivered this high-quality residential scheme that provides a stunning addition to this iconic part of Liverpool city centre. The Copper House is a stand-out •4•

development which is already attracting significant demand. The quality of both the design and the build sets it apart, offering future residents a modern living environment with a community feel. Our early involvement, and close collaboration with our client Panacea throughout the journey, have been crucial to the success of this project, bringing our collective skills together to positively influence design, the construction methodology and the delivery programme.”

Commenting on making a “lasting impact” in Liverpool, Peter added: “It is important to us at GRAHAM to deliver lasting impact and to enhance opportunities for local people. Strand Street is a great example of how we engaged with the Liverpool supply chain and provided employment opportunities for local people, apprentices and students. With a significant presence in the city, we look forward to strengthening and building upon these relationships in future construction projects.”

Neil Patten, joint managing director of Panacea Properties, said: “We were ambitious in the vision we set out for The Copper House, and to see it realised in such a spectacular way is something the entire team is very proud of. This has been a long, challenging scheme, but the commitment to get every detail right has paid off considerably. Liverpool now has a sought after residential development that encapsulates the optimism and ambition of the city. We have enjoyed working with Invesco Real Estate and the delivery of the project by GRAHAM has been first class. The consultant team including Leach Rhodes Walker, Curtins, DFC, Sharps Redmore, Lendlease, Capita and Squire Patton Boggs have all worked tirelessly to deliver a building that sets a new standard for the quality of residential living in Liverpool City centre. My thanks go to the entire team for their efforts, especially in the face of the challenges presented by the pandemic this year.”

The partnership marks the joining of two recognised industry leaders – NFRC, the UK’s largest roofing trade association and NBS, a company rooted in improving industry and compliance through digital data adoption.

By working together, NBS and the NFRC will bring vast amounts of information and resources to its members and customers, providing support during the specification stage of various building projects.

As a leading voice in roofing developments, NFRC is looking to establish closer links with specifiers by providing them with access to quality technical information and raising awareness of its membership network, ensuring consistent quality specifications across the construction chain.

EnviroBuild will benefit from Howard Tenens Logistics’ use of longer and double-deck trailers which mean fewer trips for the same amount of payload and less impact on the environment. EnviroBuild will also utilise the logistics company’s 26-tonne rigid vehicles which operate on compressed natural gas (CNG). The advantage of switching to biogas is that it delivers an 81% reduction in CO2. All biogas is purchased by Howard Tenens Logistics via the Green Gas Certification scheme to maximise the environmental advantages.

Howard Tenens Logistics has also invested heavily in energy efficiency measures in its warehousing facilities. This includes an ongoing scheme to replace all inefficient lighting with LED lights as well as installing solar photovoltaic systems to generate and provide free electricity for all the company’s sites. As well as considering the use of HVO, future initiatives include ongoing discussions with manufacturers regarding new product development for the van and light commercial vehicle sector. Howard Tenens Logistics is keen to continually push forwards on its mission of sustainability and source hybrid and electric vehicle solutions so a trial can be conducted at one of its depots. For EnviroBuild, this proactive philosophy towards consistent improvement and innovation made Howard Tenens stand out from its competitors.

EnviroBuild is delighted with its new relationship with Howard Tenens Logistics, which it views as closely matching its own ethos on environmental issues and objectives. The move is a significant step towards the company’s goal of becoming carbon neutral.

The transmission of EnviroBuild’s logistics capability to Howard Tenens Logistics will be completed by the end of the year.

Providing the UK with an almost clinically clean environment BT1 Ultimate Bathroom Sealant & Adhesive TRIBRID® Technology. Made in Britain

No More Mould or Fungal Growth

CT1 who lead the way in research and development have pioneered the latest technology for the building industry over the last 18 years.

The first to introduce a hybrid sealant almost 18 years ago, pioneered the way forward with a new era of sealants. CT1 showed the industry that you only need one tube for most applications with the correct raw materials and formulation. This new technology presented itself in a tube CT1.

CT1 created a formulation with no solvents, allowing CT1 to perform under any difficult conditions, even under water. CT1 can guarantee that it will never shrink or crack, so it will not lose its bonding and sealing capabilities over time.

Realising that hybrid formulations would be soon dated with old technology, as demands increase in what we expect from products and with the building industry producing more complex builds. CT1 was proactive rather than re-active.

Introducing TRIBRID® technology. Another new era of sealants and adhesives. Now three times stronger, longer colour retention and elongation, TRIBRID® CT1 can’t be matched or compared to again for a long time.

CT1’s technical field team also realised that in today’s current conditions people are demanding much cleaner environments and surface areas. Using the correct sealants and adhesives in installations and repairs is key keeping a surface area healthier. BT1- The Ultimate Bathroom Sealant and Adhesive was created as most sealants over time will allow bacterial and fungal growth. Some will grow quicker than others. The bathroom can be a contaminated area, with heat, fluids and lack of UV light. BT1 based on the revolutionary TRIBRID® formulation, was created to prevent fungal and bacteria growth happening over long periods of time.

This unique formulation makes it impossible for bacteria or microbes to form on the surface, and with almost zero indoor emissions, makes this the heathiest choice for your home. But what became apparent after vigorous testing was that using BT1 would reduce the risk of MRSA, E. Coli and campylobacter. Reducing bacteria by 99.99% and being able to retain its clinically clean white appearance is now proving to be the only sealant and adhesive being used by Hospitals, Aged Care Facilities, Clinics, Schools, Universities and Public Buildings.

Solihull Hospital in Birmingham and Good Hope Hospital in Sutton to name a few have used and will only use BT1.

BT1 - which can also be used in kitchen installations, launched initially in The IPG Member Stores. The IPG is the largest and fastest growing membership group for plumbing, heating and bathroom specialists, wanted to add BT1 to their stock profile and give their members the latest technology for plumbing and installations.

Since the growth and reputation of BT1 and the important role it plays in keeping a healthier environment, Wickes stores, will now also be stocking BT1 nationwide.
