Bathroom panels provide a 100% waterproof surface, they don’t require grout, they are quicker to install, and they last longer—all without compromising on style. They are a modern and sustainable alternative to traditional tiles: using bathroom panels instead of tiles saves on average 21 installation hours per bathroom and positively contributes to accelerating home completion timescales, as well as reducing snagging issues
Multipanel’s new Tile Collection of 9 decors provides the aesthetic benefits of a stylish tile, but with the simplicity and ease of high-performance bathroom panels.
Using the very latest in manufacturing technology, a 2.5mm pale grey grout line is etched into the decors, creating a tile effect with laser precision. Panels in the Tile Collection feature a 580mm x400mm size tile, designed to deliver maximum aesthetic impact across any bathroom size.
Sarah Law, Managing Director at Grant Westfield, the makers of Multipanel, says: “We are delighted to be diversifying our offering with our new Tile Collection. This range of bathroom panels pairs the visual aesthetics of traditional tiles with the outstanding performance of Multipanel panels.

TRADITIONAL BATHROOM IDEAS - timeless elegance and classic styling
Traditional bathrooms go back to the golden age of interior decor.
They have remained at the forefront of luxury bathroom design for decades. It is easy to understand why. A traditional bathroom is more opulent than a contemporary bathroom and features bold and elaborate touches.
Graeme Borchard MD of
UK Bathrooms, the UK’s leading online retailer of premium brands, explains what a traditional bathroom is: “traditional bathrooms are timeless and elegant, they will not date or go out of fashion. Full of character, a classic, traditional bathroom pays homage to a historical period, such as Edwardian or Victorian. Clean lines, soothing spaces and a welcoming, charming aesthetic typifies a traditional bathroom. A space that you can enjoy for the years to come.”
Is a traditional bathroom right for your home?
The Edwardians were some of the first to build homes with the invention of a room dedicated to washing and bathing. These period homes are full of character with high ceilings, large windows, alcoves and original fireplaces. While these original features help form the traditional bathroom look, it is possible to create a traditional bathroom in a contemporary new build or apartment. Start by drawing a layout or diagram of your planned new bathroom, include the position of the bathroom door and any windows or fixed features.
How do you style a period bathroom?
When it comes to styling a traditional or period bathroom then allow consideration to the surfaces. Use natural materials such as stone, slate or granite. Choose wall and floor tiling that leans towards a vintage look with subway or hexagonal tiles. Mix and match eras but keep the look clean and simple for a more visual appeal. Use a patterned, statement tile on your floor, such as Origins White Compass Star Pattern Tile to create a unique art deco style. Origins Glazed Long Metro Tiles on your bathroom walls are an iconic yet easy-to-maintain option.
Traditional Furniture
When choosing furniture again opt for a more natural material. Wood is typically used for period vanity units and a beautiful high-end painted unit will create an incredible focal point in your room. The iconic Burlington 1340mm Curved 4 Door Vanity Unit will set the scene in your new traditional bathroom. This is a stunning piece of furniture which oozes classical elegance. Choose from Black Granite, Carrara White Marble or White worktop indicative of a bygone era. The vanity unit is available in a choice of four colours with a matt white option that you can customise to co-ordinate your bathroom design.
Traditional basin and washstand
A beautiful washstand can be a stunning alternative to a vanity unit or basin with a pedestal. The Vitra Valarte Basin and Washstand is a Victorian beauty. Its design embodies the quintessential traditional washroom. The chic sink sits on top of the elegant polished chrome washstand frame. This has a front towel rail built into the design and a convenient shelf, ideal for storage.
Traditional bath
If you have space choose a beautiful freestanding bathtub. Nothing says traditional as much as a roll top bath. Victoria and Albert Richmond Freestanding Bath has a timeless artdeco feel. The standard Gloss White finish it is a true statement piece. For an incredible focal point opt for the RAL Colour Service available to choose your own colour.
Taps and showers
Traditional bathrooms need period styled brassware. Crosswater’ Belgravia Collection is elegant and understated, a perfect pairing to yesteryear and available in a wide range of products. From Bath Pillar Taps to a Cross head Bath Shower Mixer in chrome, nickel or unlacquered brass finish. For an ultracoordinated look match with Crosswater Belgravia Thermostatic Shower Kit. This shower kit features modern day technology and innovation with a classical look. The valve has two controls and is easy to operate for the whole family.
Toilets with tradition
Capture the spirit of a bygone age with a traditional toilet. With a plethora of choice available from wall mounted to high level cisterns, the only thing to check is your plumbing requirements. The Burlington Low Level Toilet comes with a choice in position for the pan outlet so check this with your installer first. This period piece also has the option of a ceramic cistern lever or push-button mechanism. Seats are available in rich dark mahogany, warm oak or white.
What is the best colour scheme for a traditional bathroom?
Adding colour to your traditional bathroom is where you get to use your creative side. Opting for a beautiful botanical wallpaper can make a striking aesthetic to your bathroom. If you have high ceilings and a plethora of natural light choose a bold and bright colour scheme, or opt for a darker colour for a more dramatic impact. Green is a colour renowned for its calming qualities. It exudes a sense of balance and harmony perfect for any bathroom space. Decorate your walls with green-inspired hues such as pale pistachio, mint pastels and soft sage to dark forest tones. Choose panelling to walls, whilst they will need painting, they will look amazing and befitting of your new traditional space.
If green isn’t your favourite on the pantone chart, then consider dark blue walls to create an elegant, stylish appeal.
An authentic period space with an abundance of original features will allow you to keep your walls and floor neutral and the features to stand out. This will create a charming and welcoming bathroom where you can relax and unwind.
BLACK EDITION RANGE
THE NEWICK 1000
With the rising and continuing popularity of Black fixtures within the bathroom we have extended the Black Edition Range to include The Newick 1000, a horizontal rail, popular as a statement within the bathroom but also fits easily below most windows. The Newick measures 600 high by 1000mm wide and retails at £299.80 exclusive of VAT.
We have also introduced the profile valve in Black to the Black Edition. Designed to complement the black edition rails these valves will not protrude into the room and sit neatly within the rail visually enhancing the product. The valves are brass and powder coated with a good solid weight.
We are selling more and more of the black edition towel rails we feel the reason for this is two fold. Firstly that we have the rails in stock whereas there are still widespread shortages of supply generally speaking so those who would normally buy a cheaper mild steel rail are realizing the difference in price is not that great compared to the cost to disrupted contractors. But also the rise in customers who value sustainability and although it may at first seem unnecessary to manufacture a coloured powder coated rail from stainless steel, the properties that set the noncoated rails apart from their mild steel counterparts still stand. They will not rust or corrode, you are buying into a product that will endure the entire life of the bathroom itself.
Stainless steel is manufactured from over 90% recycled material and 100% recyclable in itself. In order to maintain the ethical sustainability of all of our products across the range, we chose to powder coat the stainless steel.
Powder coating is highly protective of the environment, it contains no solvents and emits negligible, if any, polluting VOCs into the atmosphere.
Powder coating is a clean process, allowing exhaust air from the coating booth to be returned to the plant. Powder overspray can be retrieved and reused and there is no costly waste disposal equipment as unused powder can be reclaimed and returned to a hopper.
There are now thirteen of our most popular selling rails in the black edition as well as the valves and the complementary element cover further enhancing the aesthetics of this range.

Offsite Solutions, the UK’s leading bathroom pod specialist, has delivered the final pods for a £3.2m contract to manufacture luxury bathrooms for its second Berkeley Homes residential scheme.
Designed by Foster and Partners with Broadway Malyan, 250 City Road in London is a landmark development set in 1.9 acres of landscaped green spaces and courtyards.
Offsite Solutions has manufactured a total of 221 bath and shower pods in two different bathroom designs for Siena House. The delivery of the pods to site was completed in just seven weeks to meet Berkeley Homes’ scheduling for installation. This involved careful logistical planning with 44 separate batches of pods required on site and up to 10 deliveries in a single week.
The project was for the third phase of the City Road development, which will provide one, two, and three-bedroom apartments for private sale, and homes for shared ownership managed by Peabody Trust.
The interior design for the bathrooms and ensuite shower rooms for the private sale apartments is opulent and elegant. Fittings are finished in striking brushed gold – wall-mounted taps to the hand basin and bath, heated towel rail, and overhead and handheld showers. This contrasts with white sanitaryware, a white steel bath, large format grey stone porcelain tiles with colour-matched grout, and a grey stone vanity top.
You can view a video of the bathroom pods here.
High end bespoke vanity cabinets with fluted doors in dark blue and contrasting gold trims are designed to match the fitted furniture in the bedrooms. to procure, co-ordinate, and benchmark which takes a lot of management time. Accurate tolerances and high-quality finishes are also vitally important to achieving the required standard – and these are easier to attain in a manufacturing environment.”
Aurimas Vaitkus, Site Manager at Berkeley Homes, said, “Bathrooms are one of the most challenging elements to build on a major residential scheme with so many different trades and subcontractors “Specifying bathroom pods simplifies the process of internal fitout and reduces the duration of second fix. There is a huge saving in management time by removing the need to co-ordinate different trades on site. Offsite manufacturing is just a more efficient way of working and we estimate it was at least 20 per cent faster on this project than in-situ construction.”
communications and their logistics were outstanding, delivering this project ahead of programme, despite unavoidable changes to the delivery schedule caused by bad weather.”
“The quality of their pods is very good – and having worked with Berkeley Homes previously, they understand the high standards we work to. They showed exceptional knowledge of compliance, specifying pipework and fittings which meet both NHBC standards and facilitate connection on site. Having pods manufactured in the UK also makes it easier to visit the factory and resolve any design issues at an early stage.”
James Stephens, Managing Director of Offsite Solutions, said, “We are delighted to have delivered our second bathroom pod contract for Berkeley Homes. These are the most luxurious and highest specification pods we have manufactured to date, taking offsite manufacturing to a completely new level.”
“There was extensive early collaboration on the design of the pods between Berkeley Homes, Broadway Malyan, Offsite Solutions, and the manufacturer of the bespoke cabinetry. This worked exceptionally well from our perspective.”
“Our production processes were also sufficiently flexible to accommodate the manufacture of a second range of bathroom pods for this mixed tenure project, to meet the requirements of the shared ownership homes which were specified by Peabody Trust. This gave Berkeley Homes all the speed, quality, and procurement benefits of offsite construction from a single manufacturer.”
The luxury pods have a frameless glass shower enclosure, floor standing dual flush toilet, threedoor mirrored cabinets, underfloor heating, and integrated LED lighting – creating a luxurious ambience for contemporary living. A specially designed, 1.2m high niche feature is recessed into the wall in the shower and above the bath. This was fully tiled and fitted with glass shelves.
An effective and innovative underfloor heating solution was used for City Road, with a sub-floor with grooves to hold the pipework and an aluminium diffuser plate for even heat distribution. This was all integral to the pod and fully fitted in the factory.
The bathroom pods for the shared ownership homes were fully tiled in limestone-coloured large format tiles to reduce maintenance and the need for repainting.
Each bathroom was pre-installed with a bath and overhead shower on a sliding wall-mounted rail, a semi-recessed hand basin, free standing back-to-wall toilet, a tiled vanity top, heated towel rail, and underfloor heating. A large mirror above the hand basin was inset into the tiles for a flush, high quality finish. The contract at City Road follows Offsite Solutions’ successful delivery of an £8m project for Berkeley Homes for the offsite manufacture of more than 900 high specification bathroom pods for a 68-storey tower at South Quay Plaza in London Docklands.
Offsite Solutions offers the UK’s largest range of pods to suit many different building types and applications. Options include steel-framed bathroom pods with porcelain-tiled finishes for high-end apartments, PRS, student residences and hotels; robust and low maintenance GRP composite shower pods for student accommodation, build-to-rent, care homes, social housing, and healthcare; hybrid pods for specialist projects, and award-winning demountable GRP pods for ease of installation in refurbishment schemes.
Offsite Solutions has also developed steel-framed utility pods for apartments or studios for build-torent or build-to-sell developments.
