Ulysse Nardin Diver
A supernova among modern wrist candy, the Ulysse Nardin Diver redefines nautical elegance with its audacious design. An unsurprising innovation from the company that leveraged the use of silicon in watch movement to great success back in the early 2000s. The introduction of the Freak affirmed its pole position as the preferred watchmaker of true blue seafarers. For veteran divers 100 feet beneath the sea, where water pressure is measured in atmospheres, watches that merely impress on the surface implode. Ulysse Nardin’s Diver timepiece, the latest sports design in its diving line, is not only an aesthetic win but also a robust tool for keeping time at depths where atmospheric compression can reach more than thirty times of sea level.

KITTY HAWK, BELL AND UBER RACE TO THE EVTOL FINISH LINE BY SI SI PENALOZA

hat requires zero runway, no pilots, and aims to revolutionize personal transportation? Meet Cora, a selfflying, electric, vertical takeoff and landing craft (eVTOL) poised to change the way we get from point A to point B. Kitty Hawk, a startup backed by Google co-founder Larry Page, recently unveiled their prototype of a two-seat flying machine to much industry intrigue. The online reveal of the eVTOL design included video footage that shows Cora, the air taxi of the future, lifting off vertically under the power of 12 electric motors, then transitioning to forward flight supported by fixed wings as a pusher prop begins to spin. Cora by Kitty Hawk

Bell Nexus
The first wave of flying cars is right around the corner — not in the form of personal craft, but as means of ridesharing. Cora, designed as an air taxi and not intended for sale to individual consumers, will be capable of landing on rooftops, or just about anywhere, and quietly whisking passengers to their destination with zero emissions. In the race to build a commercially viable autonomous air taxi, New Zealand may be the real winner. Kitty Hawk’s momentous meeting with New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment, is where Cora found its first receptive audience, and has been operating since 2016. As the earliest adopter of the technology, New Zealand becomes a key player in the aviation narrative of the future. With strong support from local government and favorable rules for flight testing, Kitty Hawk has found an ideal environment for product development. “What emerged was a deeper partnership than we had ever imagined,” Kitty Hawk published on its site.
“Together with MBIE, New Zealand’s Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority were willing to work with us. And we discovered amazing communities like the City of Christchurch that were willing to engage with us about a future where the freedom of flight belongs to everyone.” Many competitors are vying to achieve momentum in this bold new space, driven by well-funded Silicon Valley companies including Uber. The ridesharing giant has been putting serious coin into developing air taxis; one of the first manufacturers that the company teamed up with recently debuted a complete model of a functional eVTOL. Next year, Uber and its partners plan to roll out demonstrator flights, and in 2023, they aim to commence commercial aerial ridesharing for short, localized trips. Bell kicked off opening day of the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 by showing off the full-scale design of the Bell Nexus, an air taxi powered by a “hybrid-electric propulsion system,” which utilizes six tilting fans in initiating takeoff. The taxi can potentially transport ISSUE 1 . 2019

up to four passengers, offering a fully integrated user experience including conference calling, news broadcasting, and file sharing support. Last January at CES 2018, Intel-backed Volocopter made waves with its two-person multicopter. Ehang, which announced its 184 autonomous taxi back in 2016, has struck a deal with the Dubai government to eventually launch commercial service. Rolls-Royce leads the way in the luxury space, the first to reveal an eVTOL design at the 2018 Farnborough International Air Show. Their hybrid-electric aircraft will be capable of flying at 250 mph with a range of 500 miles. Making use of what the company is well known for — turbines, the company plans to embed the tech within the rear of the aircraft. Rolls-Royce electric mobility is branded as “personal air mobility” so far, but the company says the concept could easily be adapted to air taxi transport as well as cargo applications. With the right partners and funding in place, the British engine maker predicts it will start flight testing a fullscale prototype within two years. Autonomous vehicles continue to be one of the hottest investment trends of 2019. While most investors fixate on riding selfdriving cars into the black, major players in aerospace are racing to bring autonomous aircraft to the skies. The proof is in the footprint: Boeing is now leasing 100,000 square feet of lab space at MIT for autonomous research.

“We discovered amazing communities like the City of Christchurch that were willing to engage with us about a future where the freedom of flight belongs to everyone.” - Kitty Hawk Following suit, Lockheed Martin and its Sikorsky helicopter subsidiary are developing a pair of unmanned rotary-wing testbeds that are already making fully autonomous flights under test conditions. The path to the mainstream consumer will be an uphill climb to say the least. While commuting to work in a personal helicopter or private jet is currently only an option for billionaires and Beyoncé, this is all going to change in the near future. Recall once upon a quaint time, early cellphones were the purview of the one percent; soon, catching a personal flying machine to the office will be a part of civilian life.

new year brings a whole new crop of private aircraft for sale. After visiting NBAA in Orlando and chatting with some of the premier manufacturers in the world, we have compiled this list of every new plane that should be on a buyer’s radar in 2019. From stunning new jumbo jets from the biggest names in the business to several innovative and efficient smaller planes hitting production, this selection offers a little something for everyone. Whether you need a new company plane to ferry your entire executive team or just a light jet for quick family trips, this list is guaranteed to get your engine revving.
Gulfstream: G500
An Optimal Balance of Speed and Comfort It’s boom time for the business aviation industry, the market is brimming with innovative, expressive new models. At the pinnacle of the most technologically advanced civil airplanes ever designed, the Gulfstream G500 can fly several thousand miles just a few knots below the speed of sound. Not only that, this engineering marvel features the first active-control sidesticks in civilian aviation, linked by fly-by-wire flight controls that keep the pilots in ultimate control. We caught up with celebrated aviation photographer Laird Kay to get his take on the G500. Kay, who enjoys tarmac access to document Gulfstreams in all their glory, tells us, “The oversized long oval windows on Gulfstream jets are unmistakable and iconic. A window view photo from a Gulfstream is the ultimate plane geek humble brag. This jet is pure luxury, with every detail considered in its design.” ISSUE 1 . 2019

Bombardier: Global 8000 The Possibilities Aboard are Virtually Endless
The Global 8000 is what Fortune 50 dreams are made of. A genre-defying cabin interior tailored to meet the lifestyle perks of the modern business elite. This state of the art business jet maximizes passenger comfort and productivity on long haul flights. With a range of 7,900 miles and top speed of Mach 0.925, it’s the ultimate peak performance jet. Laird Kay says of his time aboard this jet, “The giant windows make the interior feel like you are floating on the clouds, and as someone who is over 6’ tall, it’s a plane where you can stand up straight, as the ceiling height is 6’3.”
Embraer: Lineage 1000E
A History of Reliability and Efficiency Our favorite aspect of the Lineage 1000E may be a neurotic one, a rare perk in the “bizliner” category: you can access the rear luggage bay during flight. Embraer notes that the Lineage 1000E can have five distinct cabin zones for eating, sleeping, meetings, relaxing, offering a plethora of configurations including a large bed and walk-in shower. Most configurations currently keep a feeling of open space across interior, only tucking away the bedroom.

Time-saving Speed. Ambitious Range. The Citation Hemisphere is a long-range business jet that will have the thrilling capacity to transport up to 19 passengers in its spacious cabin with a diameter of 102-inches, the widest cabin in its class. Fancy a plane with a skylight? The interior features a clever circular recessed ceiling panel with an LED light, giving the impression of a skylight. The aircraft is expected to make its first flight in 2019 and is expected to have an impressive range of 4,500 nmi and will be capable of travelling non-stop from Dubai to Johannesburg.
Airbus: ACJ319Neo
Elevating Comfort to New Heights For NBA ballers who fly with an entourage, or just need extra legroom on long hauls, the ACJ319Neo affords a spacious interior for up to 22 passengers and boasts a 7-foot, 5-inch cabin height. With next generation engines in effect onboard, the cabin benefits from a calming white noise, as opposed to the high decibel, nonstop vacuum noise of the past. Using the frame of a commercial airplane, this is not the most elegant of jets on the exterior. This jet is all about size. Sophisticated smart interiors further promote an aesthetic that masterfully mixes luxury and minimalist design solutions. Private owners can outfit the plane however they see fit, with many options for the “home in the sky concept.

e’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. There is simply no greater status symbol purchase than a massive vessel perfect for you and a few dozen friends to explore the most beautiful and exotic parts of the globe. So for those in this elite club (or those ready and eager to join), we have prepared a prime selection of the most exceptional yachts for sale and yacht concepts for 2019. Fresh from the big yacht shows, here are our most illustrious finds.
Abeking and Rasmussen: Elandess Bringing Opposites Into Harmony
With a distinct low-slung superstructure, the Elandess slouches like a supermodel on sativa. The platinum blonde certainly turned heads as she glided up the Thames on her maiden voyage. Abeking and Rasmussen made headlines on delivering the superyacht to its owner Sir Lloyd Dorfman, founder of Travelex. The 74.5-meter gem, priced at 100 million, marks Dorfman’s second purchase with the German shipyard. London-based Harrison Eidsgaard design studio had the privilege of styling both interiors and exteriors of the 2,065 GT yacht. Guest accommodation is split across six staterooms, including a divine owner’s cabin on the main deck. The cunning studio pretty much nails the owner’s brief: a fresh, modern yacht catering to relaxed conviviality and family bonding. The Elandess’s yacht naval architecture is characterized by a signature ‘Atlantic’ bow, designed in a collaboration between the shipyard, Burgess and Harrison Eidsgaard. The sheer stance of the ship hints at its ocean-crossing cruising range. Compelling onboard features include an impressively scaled 8 x 2.25-meter pool on the grand sun deck, and the spellbinding Nemo lounge with portholes below the waterline for optimal aquatic views.

Rosetti Superyachts: 52-meter Supply Vessel
Italy’s Rosetti Superyachts debuted this rather dashing 52-meter supply vessel concept at the Monaco Yacht Show, created in collaboration with Giovanni Griggio from Phi Design Lab. Even if a purchaser decides on a helipad, there’s still literally tons of space as the tender garage transforms seamlessly into a swoon worthy beach club via fold-out hull sides.

Milan Red Hypercar
Austria’s 1,306bhp Falcon-inspired Hypercar Austrian supercar manufacturer Milan Automotive has officially confirmed the release of its latest creation, affectionately dubbed the “Milan Red.” The 1,306-bhp monster is capable of accelerating from 0-186 mph in an estimated 9.9 seconds, making the new model a full 3.7 seconds faster than the infamous Buggatti Chiron. Powered by a 6.8-liter V8 engine, the Red takes advantage of a quad-turbocharged configuration (yes, that’s four turbos) and lightweight carbon fiber construction to provide a one-toone power-to-kilo weight ratio similar to the popular Koenigsegg One:1. With more than one thousand foot-pounds of torque being sent directly to the rear wheels, the Milan Red features three distinctive driving modes - Glide, Hunt, and Attack, each inspired by the country of origin’s revered bird of prey. Austrian-made carbon fiber wishbone suspension and the included heartbeat monitor help make this new entry into the supercar world stand apart from the competition.

EMOTIONAL BONDS BUILD BRAND LOYALTY
hink about some of the greatest brands in the world today. They don’t have to be brands with a long and storied history. Even those that have only been around a short time can count themselves among the best. So what makes these brands great? Trust, quality, sincerity — these attributes certainly contribute to brand strength. However, a brand can make the greatest strides when it forms emotional connections with customers and, in turn, helps those customers connect with each other. Companies make significant investments in gathering data and mapping every part of the customer journey to improve overall satisfaction. But for those brands that already have high customer satisfaction, the next step to higher engagement is emotional branding — creating a bond between the brand and customers by appealing to their emotional state, ego, needs and ambitions.

Altitude // Industry Emotional branding has been around for many years. Branding icon Marc Gobé first defined it after observing that connections can be made on an emotional level between brands and customers. It goes beyond a strictly business relationship by humanizing a brand in such a way that consumers can emotionally connect with it. According to a Harvard Business Review article, “The New Science of Customer Emotions,” there are hundreds of emotional motivators that drive customer behavior. The top 10 are: Stand out from the crowd, have confidence in the future, enjoy a sense of wellbeing, feel a sense of freedom, feel a sense of thrill, feel a sense of belonging, protect the environment, be the person I want to be, feel secure and succeed in life. Emotional branding strategies aren’t likely to fulfill all these motivators at one time, but focusing on the one or two that matter most to a company’s customer base can have a considerable impact.
54
Emotionally-connected customers are believed to be twice as valuable as highly-satisfied customers. Those who have an emotional connection with a brand are less likely to reject a product due to price or to defect to a competing brand. Therefore, a greater return on investment can be achieved by focusing on meeting the emotional needs of customers rather than simply going through the movements of delivering great service. According to a survey conducted by CustomerThermometer, 65 percent of respondents say they emotionally connect with a brand that makes them feel as though it cares about people like themselves. The survey of 1,000 U.S. adults also revealed other top reasons customers feel an emotional connection. Believing a company is making a positive difference in the world was cited by 55 percent of respondents, while 45 percent cited feeling like the company gets them as a reason, and 42 percent said they like that the company is run by people like themselves. Emotional branding establishes a lasting relationship in the hearts and minds of customers. By portraying a personality that customers can connect with, companies are able to create deep, intrinsic relationships. Apple, Amazon, Target, Nike and Patagonia are some of the top brands that have successfully established emotional connections with their leagues of customers. Emotive responses in marketing can be placed in two main categories: empathy and creativity. Empathy is when people identify JETSETMAG.COM
with a brand and feel closer to it after seeing an advertisement. A perfect example of empathy in advertising is the old Dunkin Donuts “Time to Make the Donuts” campaign. Commercial after commercial, we saw Fred the Baker wake up at the crack of dawn to make donuts. We can all empathize with him as he’s shuffling out of his comfortable home to make sure there are fresh donuts every day. We’d hate to be that guy, we feel for him . . . but as consumers, we appreciate a company that puts in the effort to make sure they provide the best product — in this case, fresh-made donuts. The successful campaign ran for 15 years with an estimated 100 commercials. Ads based on creativity make people feel a brand is imaginative and innovative. Apple is great at this — from past iPhone commercials that show beautiful images and people with voiceovers that explain the latest features to the new iPhone X commercial that follows a young man walking through a city transformed by the video game
“Connections can be made on an emotional level between brands and customers — by humanizing a brand in such a way that consumers can emotionally connect with it.” - Marc Gobé he’s playing on his phone. Even Apple commercials set to music, with no voiceover, that simply show the product and how it can be used are effective in conveying the brand’s innovation and imagination. Studies have shown we feel emotion before we think, so it stands to reason if marketing fails to establish a fitting emotional response, it will fall flat. On the other hand, if something elicits an emotional response, it can have widespread impacts. Ninety percent of emotional experiences are shared with others. Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor says, “We live in a world where we are taught from the start that we are thinking creatures that feel. The truth is, we are feeling creatures that think.” Most of life is centered around emotions. They drive our decisions and choices. Brands that appeal to our hearts more than or as much as they appeal to our heads will succeed in establishing emotional bonds with their customers and ultimately win greater loyalty.

FOUR STEPS TO CREATING PERMANENT CHANGE BY KEN MCELROY
A
56
s a young boy, I remember looking at my parents’ friends and my immediate family with a great deal of wonder. Like in most circles of people, we had the introverts and the extroverts, the financially successful and the financially broke. It appeared that many of our friends and family were very happy with life and yet others just seemed to feel like life was so very, very hard. I didn’t understand why two people, often from the same family with the same parents, could be so very different. Why was it that some people had amazing relationships with friends and family and others had a great deal of conflict? Why is it that some of us soar in our careers and others seem to languish? JETSETMAG.COM
Growing up in a below middle-class lifestyle with parents that had a limited education and limited resources, I quickly realized that I was a product of my own environment. In other words, everything I had learned, been told or understood formed my belief system at that time. There is nothing wrong with this. Everyone starts somewhere. What I realized is that my parents beliefs around money, health, family and work became my own beliefs and those beliefs, while very real to my parents, were also very limiting. What’s interesting to note is that my parents significantly improved their own lifestyle from the generation before them. They had made a nice life for themselves given the fact that they came from a government assistance and poverty situation.
Like most kids, I had big dreams, but I soon realized that most of the people in my immediate circles had limited beliefs. They were, in large part, very nice people but not very supportive of any real change other than something they were familiar with. My dream was to be healthy and wealthy, but most of the people around me were not. I realized that if things were to change, then first I must change. Thankfully, a wrestling scholarship got me into college and I got my first taste of higher learning and I never stopped from there. I attended as many seminars as I could and read hundreds of books. Slowly, my views on the world changed. My attitudes and beliefs on money, health, religion and a number of other topics began to change as I opened my mind to other people’s perspectives. Almost 30 years later, I have summarized what I believe were the four steps to my permanent change. From my own personal experience, these four steps have increased the quality of my life significantly and I hope you enjoy reading about them. Step 1 — An Honest Self-assessment
This is a very difficult thing to do, but if you can do this, it sets the stage for the next three steps. A real self-assessment is an ongoing process that connects your inner voice. My good friend, Blair Singer, wrote about this in his bestselling book, “Little Voice Management.” We all have an internal record playing in our heads. Creating the awareness of what is on your internal record is the first step in the process. Most often, we avoid honesty in assessing ourselves. Selfappraisal is difficult and it can be painful. Some of the questions I like to ask myself are: 1. What are my habits for health, money, food, gambling, family and work?
2. What are my priorities and what am I doing verses what do I want? 3. What are my beliefs about religion, the rich, ethnicity and the poor? 4. How are my relationships with money and family? Am I broke? Do I talk to family? 5. Do I tell the truth?
“Setting goals is not about accomplishments. I believe it’s about slowing things down in your mind and obtaining clarity.” - Ken McElroy
The trick is to assess your behaviors honestly and recognize the difference between yourself and your behaviors. Pay attention to the labels you apply. Just be aware of the behaviors and look at them as an opportunity to change them. It’s easy to get discouraged and overwhelmed at this point, but I can assure you that we all have bad behaviors and you are in no way alone. I love the quote by Anthony de Mello, “People mistakenly assume that their thinking is done by their head; it is actually done by the heart which first dictates the conclusion, then commands the head to provide the reasoning that will defend it.” ISSUE 1 . 2019
57
Altitude // Estates
This is so very true. My experience is that your sense of self, or self-assessment, is derived from the thinking mind. In other words, what your mind tells you about yourself or the storyline in you, the memories, the expectations and all the thoughts that go through your head, continuously create emotions that reflect those thoughts. All these things make up your sense of self. If you can acknowledge both the good and bad in your life and take time to be aware of these things and reflect on them, you are on your way. Try to admit when you have made mistakes and don’t beat yourself up. Just pay attention to your feelings and try to know what you don’t know. Honesty takes practice, and when honesty meets our willingness to change, there is no stopping how we can grow and improve. Step #2 — Setting Goals Based on Your Self-assessment
Setting goals is not about accomplishments. I believe it’s about slowing things down in your mind and obtaining clarity. Goals provide clarity. We all know that when we have a clear vision or desire, taking the next step is much easier. When you write down your goals, the truth comes out and this is such a big part of your overall self-assessment as we move toward
58
JETSETMAG.COM
change. Writing down goals helps define who you are. It’s been said that what is written is real. Goals can be tools that help us navigate the various obstacles that life throws at us. Goals help provide a destination. The route to your goal may change and that is normal. I was having dinner recently with someone that I have been mentoring over the years and she told me that she had accomplished about 75 percent of her goals for the year. At the beginning of every year, she examines her financial, health, spiritual and relationship goals. We celebrated and she was extremely proud of herself. There should be no stress or anxiety around the timeframes regarding goals. Goals are meant for awareness and clarity and, ultimately, a direction. There are a number of goal-tracker applications. I personally like, Way of Life which tracks both good and bad habits. Just pick a goal or action and tell the app whether it’s good or bad, like healthy eating or smoking. Over time, you’ll have enough data to show your patterns. The other application is GoalsOnTrack which is web-based and uses the S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting trend (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely). This application helps you break big goals into smaller chunks so things don’t get so overwhelming. The point is there are many ways to monitor your goals. Trust me when I say that three months from now you will thank yourself.

Altitude // Estates Step #3 — Setting Your Priorities
Step # 4 — The Habit Loop
It was Gandhi that said “actions express priorities.” What I believe he was saying here was that your actions actually reveal your priorities. Most of us go through life fairly unconscious, but one thing is for sure: what you prioritize in your day, week or year is obviously important to you. If you study Sigmund Freud’s model of the brain, he says that the brain has the conscious and the subconscious, but most of our daily actions come from our memories and fears which are in the subconscious. It’s the conscious brain that typically does the thinking. Why is this important? If you can identify the emotions attached to your actions, then you are starting to understand why you may be doing things and you can modify your actions. For example, I have a friend that was overweight when he was a kid. He constantly fights his thoughts today, even though he is no longer that kid. He really struggles with his self-image from childhood and is constantly dieting and talking about his weight and stresses out when he eats. I have another friend that has a similar emotion around money. He has a scarcity mindset around money because he grew up poor and he continually talks about how much things cost, that he will never have money and he believes this is the reason why he can’t keep a relationship. What’s interesting to me is that both of these guys are highly educated and in very good shape. One is even a personal trainer for a living. If you really take note of your thoughts, you will notice that thoughts become your words and then your words became your actions. These actions DO express your priorities. Once you take note of your thoughts and question why you might be doing what you’re doing, you just might be at the beginning of changing what was a subconscious habit to a conscious habit. This is the beginning of change. Once you have identified your priorities or short-term goals, the best way I have seen to sort them out is by using the Eisenhower method. This is a simple quadrant used to organize duties and tasks in order to figure out priorities or short-term goals. Each task is evaluated into the criteria important/unimportant and urgent/nonurgent. I use this almost every day and so does my assistant.
In the book “The Power of Habit,” the author describes the habit loop as a neurological loop that governs any habit. The habit loop consists of three elements: a cue, a routine and a reward. Many habits are so routine that we often don’t even know we are doing them. It has been my experience that once we understand and are aware of these three elements, we can begin to turn bad habits into healthy ones. The golden rule of habit change is changing the behavior or the routine and cutting out the “triggers,” or cues. Typical “cues” or triggers can be various things such as: time, certain locations, preceding events, an emotional state or other people. The goal is not to completely stop a habit, but to replace it. Here are four ways to enforce good habits and change bad habits:
Ken McElroy is the co-partner of MC Companies, a real estate investment, development and management company located in Scottsdale, Ariz. He is the author of the best-selling books, The ABC’s of Real Estate Investing, The Advanced Guide to Real Estate Investing, and The ABC’s of Property Management. McElroy is also a contributor for The Real Book of Real Estate by Robert Kiyosaki, and The Midas Touch by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki. McElroy’s fourth book, The Sleeping Giant, is dedicated to the new class of entrepreneurs who are emerging in today’s economy.

How to change a bad habit: 1. Make it invisible 2. Make it unattractive 3. Make it difficult 4. Make it unsatisfying
As we become older, we rarely notice the habits that are running our lives. Most of us never give a second thought to what we do each day. As you become aware of your habits and replace some bad ones with more healthy ones, I can assure you that you will begin to feel better about most things you do. If you’re looking for some permanent change in your life, start with your awareness, set some personal and life goals and prioritize them. Lastly, evaluate your thoughts and behaviors so you can proactively replace some of your bad habits with healthy good ones.

AN INSIGHT INTO THE CHARACTER OF DONALD TRUMP By Mona Gambetta
H
ave you ever wondered why some of life’s experiences are etched so vividly in our memories? Incredibly clear and sharp—and as real, in our mind’s eye—as the day they occurred? Why are some experiences so much more memorable than others... more powerful or emotionally-charged or meaningful? A recent conversation with Robert Kiyosaki about a meeting in New York City, more than a decade ago, triggered that very question.

I can’t recall precisely how our conversation moved to a meeting Robert had with Donald Trump in January of 2007. It was a meeting I sat in on and one that had been scheduled for a very specific reason. In my role in support of Robert’s book projects, I was often in meetings about books—and meeting with Donald Trump and his team about the books he and Robert have written together. In this particular one, I felt very much like the proverbial ‘fly on the wall’ because Robert had come to Trump Tower on a mission and I was there to support it—and him. The timing was early January in 2007. The place: Donald Trump’s office in Trump Tower in NYC. And while meetings between Robert and DJT weren’t unusual—they have shared the stage at events around the world and have written two books together—this meeting was different. And—did I mention this?—Robert had a check in his pocket (made out to Donald Trump) for $1 million. I hadn’t planned to get into too much ‘history’ here, but a bit of backstory is important. The two men met in the green room at a large-stage event at which Robert was introducing Donald Trump. Robert expressed his respect for a guy who had built an international real estate empire and leveraged his brand into a global powerhouse and authored a book (The Art of the Deal) that showcased his approach to dealmaking. When they were introduced, I remember Trump pursing his lips, nodding his head, and congratulating Robert on the phenomenal success of Rich Dad Poor Dad, the book that had become the number one personal finance book of all time and has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. At some point, the idea that “we should write a book together” was floated . . . and that thought took on a life of its own—in the form of Why We Want You to Be Rich.

Altitude // Finance In October of 2006, Robert and DJT released that book, the first of their two co-authored books. The launch party at Trump Tower buzzed with dozens of international journalists as well as Steve Forbes, who wrote the endorsement ‘blurb’ on the back of the book jacket. Why We Want You to Be Rich hit The New York Times bestsellers list at #1 the week it was published and by the end of that year, the book had sold more than 500,000 copies. Nice payday for the authorpartners, even though the revenue from book sales was only one small part of their businesses and revenue streams. The event that really sets up that meeting between the two icons the following January was the fact that our book distributor at the time filed for bankruptcy protection on the last day the year in 2006. How that would all shake out (and it did, in a not-so-horrible way) is immaterial to this story. I should mention, though, that DJT was not totally in favor of the publishing path we had chosen for their first book together, but his respect for Robert and the sustainability of Rich Dad Poor Dad sealed the deal. I’m sure that conversation, nearly
shared earlier in this piece and explained how the unexpected turn of events with our book distributor would impact future distribution and sales of their book. Trump listened and nodded, but—as I recall—said relatively little. He did remind us that he had some reservations, early on, in terms of the overall publishing play, but more to remind us of his concerns (it seemed) than as recrimination or blame. They’d stay in touch on how things unfolded, they agreed, and Robert assured his co-author that we were already exploring several options that would keep the book distribution channels open in support of ongoing book sales and the licensing of global rights. Then Robert reached into his pocket and pulled out the (less-thanpristine) check, still folded in half. Robert reached across Trump’s desk to hand him what must have looked more like a folded piece of paper than a check. DJT unfolded it, looked at it, nodded his head and then folded the check again, running his fingers along the crease. He didn’t say a word. Then he unfolded the check again, looked at it (again), folded it (again) and

a year prior, was on my mind and colored my expectations for that January meeting. What is important is that there was ‘royalty’ money due to be paid to Donald Trump in January. And Robert and his wife Kim had a decision to make. That’s where this story starts. After boarding a plane in Phoenix with Robert, headed to NYC, he pulled a piece of paper from the inside breast pocket of his sport coat. He unfolded it, looked at it, and put it back in his pocket. He patted his chest, confirming to me that he had what we needed for the meeting he had planned. “Do we have an envelope for that check?” I asked him. He shook his head. We had another 24 hours before Robert would hand over that check and it (already) wasn’t quite as ‘crisp’ as I hoped it might be... but that’s neither here nor there. The following morning, we sat across the desk from Donald Trump. After a bit of small talk between the two, Robert explained the reason for their meeting. He recounted some of the backstory I JETSETMAG.COM
put it on the desk in front of him. He looked at Robert and asked, “Is this a hardship?” At the time I recall thinking that of all the comments Donald Trump might have made and I would never have anticipated that one. I remember thinking, Well, isn’t that an interesting take on this business arrangement? Robert didn’t miss a beat and cut right to the chase: “We had a deal. And a deal’s a deal.” He assured DJT that he and his team would work through this unexpected speedbump and the terms of their deal would be honored. It was my impression that Trump was more focused on the ‘deal’—and the relationship it was based upon—than the $1 million check that sat on the desk between them. So I wasn’t surprised when he asked again, “But is this a hardship?” To which Robert replied: “Thank you. No. A deal’s a deal. And you can count on more book sales and more revenue checks.” As that ‘fly on the wall,’ it was interesting to see these two men— both men of relatively few words—display this show of respect, respect for each other and respect for the business deal they had made.

Altitude // Finance I realized that the situation in which both men found themselves was a test of character—for each of them—and as I was witness to two examples of both character and strength, I was reminded that great lessons, in business and in life, are all around us if we’re watching for them. And, without a doubt, this was one of the most memorable of my business life. But what I remember most—and what Robert and I talked about that led to this article—is that so often we’re so sure we know what to expect. I could have cited a half dozen things DJT might have said to Robert, based on prior meetings and conversations and the current state of affairs related to their first book. (Including: “I told you so.”) The fact that I never imagined that conversation to play out as it did has been a lesson that has stayed with me for more than a decade. As has the realization that I had made some assumptions that never even came into play. I was struck by what that said—about both men—and felt fortunate to have worked with and learned from both of them. It would be quite the understatement to say that Donald J. Trump—as today’s U.S. President and as a businessman for decades prior to that—has surprised more than a few people in ways large and small. His reaction that day a decade ago surprised me in a way I had never expected. And the impact of that unexpected perspective—and
People either love President Donald Trump or they hate him. If you hate him, this article probably is not for you. If you want to learn more about a man who became the U.S. President, this article will share an insight into the most powerful man in the world, and one few people will ever see. I met Donald Trump before he became President Trump. We met as teachers, two men, both with rich dads... rich dads who were our teachers. I met “The Donald” backstage in a green room, when we were doing a number of mega-real estate investment events. The largest event we did together was in San Francisco for over 65,000 people, all seeking wisdom and knowledge about real estate investing and a path to a better life. We met as teachers, not politicians, because we had two shared concerns: the growing gap between the rich and the poor and

his question—has stayed with me as I’ve watched his life take a path that led him to the White House. Some might say that meeting was an uncharacteristic moment. Others, a glimpse into his true character. In any case . . . it was one of those experiences that has stayed with me as a reminder that we don’t always see—or get—what we expect in life. In fact, what fun would life be without a few surprises now and then? My hour with Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump at Trump Tower that day made a powerful impression on me, a reminder that we can’t always predict how anyone will react to adversity or challenges or unintended consequences. And the pivotal role that character plays in decisions, actions, reactions and outcomes. One thing I can say with confidence is that I wasn’t the first person who’s been surprised by Donald Trump’s perspective and actions. Nor, quite likely, will I be the last. And the lesson for all of us might be found in the words attributed to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus: character determines destiny. That story will be one for the history books.

shrinking middle class and the lack of financial education in our schools. Neither of us could fathom that few, if any, schools offered a ‘class’ on the education we received from our rich dads. While I do not agree with everything President Trump does or tweets, I did learn to respect the man during the eight years of speaking events and co-authoring two books together. We were in the process of writing a third book when he called to let me know the book deal was off and that he was running for President of the United States. When Mona and I talked about this article for Jetset, of course I said “Yes.” Mona was with me every step of the way, and she witnessed things few people will know, things learned during the process of working with a future President of the United States. Whether you love or hate the President, the purpose of this article is to give you a glimpse into the true character of a man who, today, is the most powerful man in the world. Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad and 28 other books in the Rich Dad series, has challenged and changed the way tens of millions of people around the world think about money and their financial future. With perspectives that often contradict conventional wisdom, Robert has earned a reputation for straight talk, irreverence and courage. He is regarded worldwide as a passionate advocate for financial education.

WHY IT’S ESSENTIAL TO EMBRACE BOTH SIDES IN WORK AND LIFE BY DR. JOHN DEMARTINI
T
here exists within society an unfamiliar law of social behavior called the Law of Eristic Escalation. This generally unknown law is derived from chaos theory. It states that when some leader or politician in society, or in any organization for that matter, attempts to impose an ideal rule or value on their society or organization in order to bring about greater order and governance, an equal and opposite social force will spontaneously and synchronously emerge to initiate chaos in the governance of that disorder in the opposite direction.
68
JETSETMAG.COM
This law is not unlike the law governing subatomic particles and antiparticles discovered by Paul Dirac and later observed by Einstein in quantum mechanics, where two complementary oppositelycharged entangled secondary daughter particles emerge from a primary parent or force particle. As one emerges, so does the other, both playing out complementary opposite behaviors non-locally. An uninformed individual or leader who attempts to impose this generally subjectively-biased social “order” onto society could be considered an eristic avatar, like Mahatma Ghandi, or even our current U.S. president, Donald Trump. Because nature has made it such that where growth and development is maximal at the border of chaos and order, there exists contrary opposite value systems in individual human values and in the collective society to fulfill this continually transforming development. So whatever
one person is dedicated to and wants to build, somebody else is dedicated to destroy and vice versa. This, at first, may seem to be counterproductive and meaningless, but actually it is one of the most important keys to social transformation and human evolution. It allows for greater resilience and adaptability in the human species. It represents a form of what Zeno and Socrates termed the dialectic. “Of all relations, the most universal is that of contrast of opposition. Every condition of thought or of things – every idea and every situation in the world – leads irresistibly to its opposite, and then unites with it to form a higher or more complex whole... The movement of evolution is a continuous development of oppositions and their merging and reconciliation... Thesis, antithesis and synthesis constitute the formula and secret of all development and all reality.” - Will Durant
This same scenario can also show up in technicians wanting to advance technology into the future and utilize resources, and ecologists wanting to slow down development, hold onto the past and salvage resources. This can show up as pro-lifers and proabortionists, capitalists and socialists, conservatives and liberals and pro-gun and anti-gun advocates. These complementary opposites work as expressions and repressions of social values. Whatever the collective society represses, a selective society will express. Whatever the collective society negates, a selective society will affirm. This keeps the balance of build and destroy active, so society can continue to adapt to changing environments and transform and not stagnate. Society requires this form of socio-plasticity to maximally evolve. This same complementary opposite or entangled law applies in feedback systems within human physiology. Anabolic and catabolic, mitosis and apoptosis, reduction and oxidation, and parasympathetic and sympathetic. Welcome to what Walter Cannon and Claude Bernard described as the keys to homeostasis of the internal milieu (interstitial fluid) or the synchronous wisdom of the body. These complementary opposites are essentials inside our physiology, our individuality, our family, our corporate management and inside all levels of social dynamics.
“Whatever the collective society represses, a selective society will express. Society requires this form of socio-plasticity to maximally evolve.” - Dr. Demartini
Since the family is the fundamental unit of social structure, this same law applies with the family dynamic. Inside a family, if one child is the ambitious one and tries to directly control and plan their life, the other child or family member will just go with the flow and take it as it comes without much foresight. If one strives for wealth, the other will be a great spender and consumer. If one is outspoken, the other will be an introvert. Welcome to the hidden order of the family! The so-called dysfunction has an actual higher ordered function that is unrecognized. ISSUE 1 . 2019
69
Altitude // Inspire So, growth, development and remodeling, or transformation within society demands expressions and repressions of human values as pairs of complementary opposites. Even in companies, there’s the over-worker and the under-worker, the outspoken and the withholding, the one that exceeds expectations and the other that barely lives up to expectations. Leaders and managers must know how to master the management of these inevitable paradoxes. If the leader admires one pole of the equation, he or she will despise the other. Yet both are essential and offer feedback to a leader’s selfgovernance and maximizing objectivity of aim. So, to expect and desire a one-sided world will only frustrate and bring futility. If the repressors of society are labeled good, like in chastity, the promiscuous expressers will be labeled the villains. If the repressors are labeled the villains, the expressers will be labeled the heroes. Just like for the haves and have nots, the compliant and noncompliant, or the over-workers and under-workers, if the selective few are expressed economically, the collective many will repress their potential for wealth — so too, for intelligence and ignorance, rational and irrational and all other complementary opposite aspects of human social behavior. The more extreme either of these poles become, the more unstable and revolutionary the society. The more moderated they become, the more stable and empowered. When a leader can transcend any emotional attachment to either of these illusive polar pursuits, they can become more effective in their overall leadership and influence. Leaders who can recognize this hidden order do not become trapped, fooled, humbled and humored by the Law of Eristic Escalation, expecting only one side of the social magnet. Seeking that which is unavailable and trying to avoid that which is unavoidable is a source of human suffering. Embracing both sides of life is the secret to fulfilment within the individual and society. Just like within you, trying to get rid of half yourself in order to love yourself is futile. You are wise then to love both sides of yourself — so, too, for both sides of society. The second you take a stance, an equal and opposite stance emerges and you become a victim of circumstance. Once you understand the Law of Eristic Escalation, embrace both sides, and transcend the paradox, as a great leader you get to dance. Great leaders embrace and master the management of such paradoxical complementary pairs of opposites.
“Even in companies, there’s the overworker and the under-worker, the outspoken and the withholding, the one that exceeds expectations and the other that barely lives up to expectations.” - Dr. Demartini

HOLLYWOOD’S REIGNING MUSE BY SI SI PENALOZA INTERVIEW BY TARA HITCHCOCK

or more than three decades, Nicole Kidman has thrived as the emotional center of some of the most riveting projects in Hollywood, both on and offscreen. Her career trajectory touches on every mood and genre imaginable. From auteur-driven dramas like Eyes Wide Shut to art-house period pieces such as The Hours and Cold Mountain, she elevates every scene with nuanced precision. Despite this expansive repertoire, is Hollywood’s reigning muse tired of being dubbed a modern-day Grace Kelly? Given her unflinching performance as a disintegrating LAPD detective in Destroyer, we certainly think so. We sat down with the Oscar winner to catch up on her recent revelations.

Altitude // Cover Feature 2017 proved seismic for Kidman; she headlined four movies and two TV series, picking up an Emmy for HBO’s Big Little Lies and getting her halfway to rarefied EGOT status, with only a Grammy and Tony left to chase down. In 2018, the Australian actress returned with more strong performances. In Focus Features’ Boy Erased, she plays the Baptist mother of a teenager forced into gay conversion therapy. In Annapurna’s Destroyer, she portrays hardened homicide detective Erin Bell. Kidman has leveraged A-list status in Hollywood to launch her production company, Blossom Films, and to advocate for gender parity. Her impressive track record in working with women directors has resulted in her most robust works to date: Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake, Karyn Kusama’s Destroyer, Andrea Arnold’s second season of Big Little Lies and an upcoming HBO miniseries with Susanne Bier’s The Undoing. I’ve had the occasion to observe Kidman sitting across from me a half dozen times over the past decade, be it round table interviews or seated dinners hosted by film studios. The most surreal remains 2003’s Dogville junket in Cannes; I have yet to witness a more squeamishly polite Kidman than when she’s seated next to director provocateur Lars von Trier. Fast forward to a polar opposite rapport with Karyn Kusama at the intimate

cast dinner for Destroyer, hosted by Grey Goose vodka and Soho House at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Nicole lit up the private club with her relaxed and jovial vibe, playfully passing platters of ratatouille between co-stars Sebastian Stan and Tatiana Maslany. Her affection for Kusama was obvious; the collaborative pair shared candid musings over a pitch-perfect menu designed by celebrated chef Ludo Lefebvre. Renowned for taking bold, artistic leaps in role choices, Kidman is a virtuoso at tapping great literary material. Destroyer — a gritty crime thriller hinging on a protagonist plagued by inner demons — is an even further departure from an already blown-out wheelhouse. Case in point, Kidman wept the first time she read the script. To provoke a haunted and hunted performance, Kusama sent her lead actress video footage of coyotes running through the streets of Los Angeles. Such intensive study of sheer physicality translates in Kidman’s embodiment of buried shame, showing us what it means to be fugitive in and from one’s own body. “That was a huge feat for me,” Kidman explains of the achingly raw portraiture. “So much of the film is creating the story, the look, and everything around the character for it to work.” Undergoing a drastic makeunder for the role, Nicole confides she was initially skittish to take on the lead. When asked what sparked the nerves she replies, “That I wouldn’t be believable… that I would be performing and that it wouldn’t actually soak in and be completely authentic.” Kidman certainly rose to new challenges to unravel her character’s ethos — starting with shooting range sessions in Tennessee with a military veteran. She learned to lock and load from a consummate pro and it shows on screen. Her physical JETSETMAG.COM

performance captivates, and it’s not facial prosthetics doing all the heavy lifting. Ever attentive to the tiniest of details, she crafted an uncanny limp for the role and now handles assault rifles like a boss. Nevertheless, the trauma of training clearly took its toll. “As soon as we wrapped, I had to do a lot of self-care,” she reveals. “Working 12 to 14-hour days is all consuming, it really is a huge life commitment. So, the family has to be on board to support, and Keith was absolutely on board.” Kidman’s most stunning turn on the recent festival circuit? Her arrival at the Serpentine Pavilion by Denmark’s Bjarke Ingels. The ambitious build, executed flawlessly by Astound, was revealed just in time to be the most prestigious venue at TIFF. With this architectural marvel as a backdrop, Westbank and Focus Features toasted Boy Erased in grand style, with Kidman making a seamless entrance in a svelte black dress. I couldn’t help noticing Nicole spending a lot of time chatting with pop star Troye Sivan, who lent his acting talents to the film. The consummate doyenne, she gracefully includes younger castmates in conversation — such a class act. Enjoying a laidback life in Nashville with husband Keith Urban and their two daughters, Nicole revels in a bucolic world far from

Hollywood pressure. She loves growing roses, improving her golf swing and helping out at school events when she can. She met her fellow Australian in January 2005 at the annual star-studded G’day LA, an event celebrating Aussie talent, and they married a year later. “My kids are incredibly loving. We’re a very close family, but they definitely get embarrassed by me… deeply embarrassed,” she quips with a cheeky giggle. “I got a lot of brownie points at the premiere of Aquaman… They love my Queen Atlanna character, they love when I fight and win.” Could this be a filmmaking dynasty in the making? Nicole doesn’t rule it out. “My 10-year-old daughter is very interested in filmmaking,” Kidman shares. “I was just on the phone with her before this interview, and she was like, “I’ve just found this new editing app…’ I’m like (throws hands up) because I understand none of that. It’s interesting because she’s just getting more and more enthusiastic about it.”

ACI Jet Adds Bespoke Experiences and Amenities to Its Offerings By Douglas Wilson
c
hampagne, cufflinks and double Windsor knots dominated the Mark Pomerantz Autumn Soiree event held at ACI Jet, Orange County’s premier FBO, in October. Pomerantz, a graduate of the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, honed his tradecraft in Italy, working with the best names in fashion, including Armani, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein, before launching the brand that bears his name in 2010. On hand to cap off the festive, invite-only unveiling of Pomerantz’s Fall/ Winter menswear collection were head-turning Ferraris from Ferrari of Newport Beach, a speedy Citation X from Paragon Airways, and ultra-premium Carbonadi Vodka imported from Northern Italy. The menswear featured at ACI Jet was a rare treat, as the collection can usually only be viewed by private clients by appointment only at Mark Pomerantz’s Newport Beach headquarters — or on the fashion runways of New York, Los Angeles and the like. Joe Daichendt, Senior Vice President of FBOs for ACI Jet notes, “In 2019, ACI Jet will offer experiences like this as a daily feature of our Orange County FBO by taking features from these events and distilling them into bespoke amenities that are without equal in the industry — including a microstorefront with menswear and accessories available for purchase from the Mark Pomerantz collection, along with an onsite tailor. With the variety of customers we have the privilege of serving at ACI Jet, a one-size-fits-all level of service just misses the mark. These initiatives, along with others, will allow us to individualize the ACI Jet experience to each customer’s unique needs.” Not to be outdone by the Pomerantz collection, Ferrari of Newport Beach featured its own collection of super cars that are the perfect

complement to a well-tailored suit. On hand for the event were three of Ferrari’s newest models, including the 488 Spider, which makes 0-60 in under three seconds, the Portofino, which made its debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show only a month before, and the appropriately-named 812 Superfast, which with its 12-cylinder engine is the fastest and most powerful production Ferrari to date. Keeping up with that speed theme was Paragon Airways, who captured it perfectly with their Citation X, available for static viewing during the event. The Cessna Citation X is the fastest civilian production aircraft, and the latest model offers a blistering speed of .935 Mach. Orange County-based Paragon Airways offers a complete line of business aircraft for charter, including several models within Cessna’s venerable Citation series, such as the Ultra, Bravo and Excel. “It was our honor to host Mark and feature his renowned collection of menswear. Having Ferrari of Newport Beach and Paragon Airways join us, among others, also made this event so unique,” concludes Joe Daichendt, adding with a smile, “We can’t wait to show you what we have in store for 2019.” About ACI Jet ACI Jet is a leading California-based business and private aviation service company, enabling aircraft owners and operators the freedom to focus on their businesses rather than their travel accommodations. Organically grown from a single aircraft operation to a multi-base fleet operator, and privately owned since its founding, ACI Jet is the premier provider of aircraft ground support services, maintenance and inspections, full-service aircraft management, and private jet charter services on the West Coast. at famed Katsuya by Starck. We enjoyed fresh and original versions of classic Japanese dishes including the highly recommended signature miso-marinated black cod paired with a smooth sake. The ‘Taste of SBE,’ presented by the global lifestyle hospitality company, kicked off with a welcome toast and inventive small plate offerings prepared by the SLS team of top chefs representing their respective restaurants at themed cabanas. Over one hundred guests sampled a variety of delectable morsels including Mediterranean, Italian and Japanese classics. An evening of dancing and VIP table service at the on-site BOND Nightclub capped the evening. The finale was a sublime seven-course private feast created by the chefs of Baha Mar at an eloquently designed table for 80 elite guests who enjoyed a worldly culinary journey with exquisite wine pairings. The next morning, we were whisked away to the airport in a Bentley SUV delighting in the great memories that SLS Baha Mar created along with visions of returning to this truly luxurious resort hotel in the very near future. At The Epic Apex of Real-World Race Car Driving BY DAVID HARALDSEN

f
or most motorsport fans, the opportunity to take control of an authentic race car is simply an “exhausting” pipe dream. Propitiously, an exclusive new experience brings real-world race car driving to those looking for one of the most adrenaline-inducing thrills available anywhere.
Formula Experiences, located on the historic grounds of VIRginia International Raceway, offers people of all skill levels the chance to drive some of today’s most advanced open cockpit race cars. The 1300-acre VIR facility is widely considered one of the best tracks in the world and serves as the country’s premier motorsports resort. The exclusive Formula Experiences, launched in early 2018, provides what is probably the closest an amateur driver can get to driving a Formula One or Le Mans prototype-style race car in North America. At Jetset, we’re fairly seasoned in the world of racing and have been fortunate to globetrot to a number of unique driving experiences. However, Formula Experiences distinguishes itself from other similar offerings with its state-of-the-art, full-motion simulators that allow participants to virtually “learn the line” on a digital replica of VIR’s different course configurations (North, South, and Patriot). Combined with unparalleled coaching from Formula Experiences founder Peter Heffring and his talented team, the extra practice time provides drivers with invaluable insight into the track and how to handle these world-class cars. A quick look inside the Formula Experiences garage reveals an impressive selection of vehicles, all of which are available for drivers who participate in a day (or two) at this one-of-a-kind racing adventure. From open-wheel, open cockpit prototypes and formula racers to some of today’s most sought-after exotic streetcars, this bucket-list destination has everything you need to experience the ultimate thrill of race car driving. Starting with a fleet of vehicles from British race car manufacturer Radical, Formula Experiences features both the SR3 (a personal favorite) and SR1 models. A popular choice for many entry-level racers, these extraordinary open cockpit race cars feature a 1340cc 4-cylinder motor capable of speeds in excess of 130 mph from a unique design that delivers more than two G’s of downforce during cornering and braking. The innovative racing technology, recently revised in Radical’s Gen 2 models, features groundbreaking aerodynamics and the latest electronics to help deliver a power-to-weight ratio of more than 350bhp per ton. Getting behind the wheel of either of these Herculean machines will leave you with a pounding heart and a nearly unquenchable thirst for more. If you’re like me, you’ve had a longstanding curiosity about what it’s like to take control of an open-wheel vehicle, and Formula Experiences provides the answer. With a gorgeous set of Ligier Formula 4 spec race cars, all featuring a carbon composite monocoque and numerous safety systems purpose-built for even the most novice drivers, Formula Experiences lives up to its name with its unprecedented opportunity for guests to experience high-speed racing from the driver’s seat of a true Formula race car. Even for the seasoned driver, this is one electrifying thrill ride that’s guaranteed to leave you smiling from ear to ear. With hair-raising night time ridealongs, “Arrive & Drive” packages, race car rentals on track days, and an official SVRA licensing school, Formula Experiences is also the ideal solution for your corporate gathering or private group event. Thanks to Heffring and his savvy team of technicians and pro drivers, this riveting racing retreat has been meticulously designed to deliver memories that are sure to last a lifetime. Couple that with the chance to drive their Lamborghini Gallardo and Porsche Cayman S streetcars, and a day spent at Formula Experiences is nothing short of a dream come true for the racing aficionado.
