GREETINGS
Dear Virtual Guest,
During my tenure as President of the Orthodox Union, it became clear to me that we must deal with the reality that Orthodox Jewish living was becoming prohibitive for many people. Therefore, Genie and I took it upon ourselves to travel to many communities throughout North America. We learned that there is a rich, wonderful, vibrant Jewish life, not only in the major metropolitan areas, but in other areas in which Jewish life is thriving. With that understanding, I went back to the Board and asked them to take a chance and a risk and to fund a program that we had never supported before, and we created and financed the Small Community Program. I remember how nervous I was the night before the program unveiled for the first time: Would people show up? And, when several thousand participated the very first year, I knew we had a winner!
Since that time, thousands and thousands of people have moved to communities where the standard of living is more affordable, and where they become an important part of the structure and the daily living of the community. I’m thrilled that this program has grown and provides opportunities for many families to find a beautiful way of life with more economic advantages.
Since we wanted to give back to the OU, it was natural for Genie and myself to provide a gift for a program I started. So, we are thrilled that the Fair now has our name and that many, many people will look forward to moving and building Jewish communities throughout North America.
I know that you are going to enjoy this virtual fair! I hope all of you find what you are looking for and that, Im Yirtza HaShem, this will strengthen the Jewish community and the Jewish world because of what we, at the Orthodox Union, have done for smaller Jewish communities.
We thank the Orthodox Union for everything it does every day for K’lal Yisrael.
Steve and Genie SavitskyFROM THE DESK OF THE Executive Vice Presidents
Dear Virtual Guest,
Our hearts are in the East, in Israel. Especially since October 7, there is little else we can think about. We sense the magnitude of this moment, with the intensity of the conflict in Eretz Yisrael and the startling growth of antisemitism in the United States. All of us have redoubled our efforts and prayers on behalf of Israel, and many are taking these events as a call for Aliyah. We admire them and hold them up as examples of faith and principled commitment. Each and every one of us living in this unique period of Jewish return to Eretz Yisrael must ask ourselves when we will make ourselves part of the return to our homeland. As an organization we are committed to advancing this dream and aspiration amongst American Jews. At the same time, we continue to pursue our mission to strengthen and support the religious life of American Jews.
It is in fulfillment of that mission that we welcome you to this event that offers a measure of Aliyah education as well as the opportunity to explore a variety of developing Jewish communities around this country. Baruch Hashem, the Orthodox community is enjoying unprecedented growth, which is seen not only in the large Orthodox population centers but in a growing number of smaller communities across the country that have developed or are positioning themselves to be able to develop the infrastructure critical to strong Jewish communal life. It is the privilege and responsibility of the Orthodox Union to offer some level of support to the growth of these developing communities.
There are myriad factors that every individual and family must consider when finding a place to live. Israel or America, cost of living, availability of Jewish education, job opportunities, Kosher amenities, the opportunity to be a contributing member of the community, and more, must be weighed against one another. While decisions of this nature can be challenging, we hope that the OU Virtual Community Home Relocation Fair will help you find your new home. We are highlighting 60 communities in the United States and Israel by providing informational seminars and opportunities to meet individually with community representatives. Please take advantage of the many offerings during this one-of-a-kind opportunity.
The first OU Community Fair was held in 2008, the brainchild of then-OU President Steve Savitsky. We are grateful to Steve and Genie and their family for generously enabling the further development of that vision by creating the Savitsky Communal Growth Initiative, supporting this fair and a number of other efforts to support developing communities.
We hope and pray that Hashem grant you the necessary wisdom and Divine assistance in making this choice, and that you achieve every measure of success.
Mitch Aeder President Rabbi Moshe Hauer Executive Vice President Rabbi Josh Joseph, Ed.D. Executive Vice President & Chief Operating OfficerWelcome to the Orthodox Union’s Savitsky Home Relocation Fair, a unique virtual experience which provides the ability to explore the thriving and growing Jewish communities throughout North America and Israel.
This is the OU’s 9th Community Fair! This online experience enables couples, families, retirees, and singles from throughout the world to participate comfortably from home! The first OU Community Fair was held in 2008 and was the amazing brainstorm of Stephen Savitsky, who was then President of the Orthodox Union. We are so appreciative to Stephen and his wife, Genie, for their recent gift, and we are proud to rename the Fair in their honor.
Moving is a significant decision determined by a variety of factors. Whether you’re new to the working world, looking for a career change, retirement community, or just a change of lifestyle, today’s event will bring you one step closer to turning that dream into a reality. There are over 60 communities from North America here today, and each booth represents a different community’s desire to invite you into their “home.” Make sure you speak with community representatives and learn first-hand what they have to offer and visit the Virtual Auditorium which will offer spotlight seminars from our sponsors and various communities.
Since Simchat Torah, when our world turned upside down, many of us have been considering Aliyah more than ever. The Orthodox Union has always encouraged and supported its members to make Aliyah, and we are putting a special emphasis on it during this Fair. We are so happy to have Nefesh B’Nefesh, CapitIL Realty, and OU Israel who will be able to answer your questions and help with your preparations.
This booklet includes profiles of each community, contact information, and a map to show where the communities are located. Visit booths and connect with communities that match your needs and aspirations for the future. But don’t stop there! We encourage you to visit on-site in addition to communicating via phone, email, and Zoom with community members. When you have found a new home, please share your good news with us by contacting us at communities.ou.org.
We would appreciate your feedback about your virtual experience and ask that you please complete the survey that you will receive by email within the week. Comments from previous Fairs have enabled us to make many improvements. Keep your suggestions coming!
We are very appreciative of the generous support of our sponsors for this program. We thank you for taking advantage of this unique opportunity and encourage you to learn more and partake of the vast array of worldwide programming the Orthodox Union offers for K’lal Yisrael.
Wishing you much Hatzlacha and Bracha,

STAMFORD CONNECTICUT
Stamford is a beautiful city with peaceful residential areas that display a rural Connecticut charm. The city is highlighted by an established Jewish community with a rapidly expanding group of young families. It boasts 3 kosher restaurants, 2 thriving Orthodox synagogues, along with a Chabad and an active JCC. The community has a strong Jewish day school (K-12) with close to 400 students, and 2 Jewish nursery schools from which to choose.
It also offers an energetic downtown area with fantastic shopping, communal activities, and theaters. There are many job opportunities available in Stamford and the surrounding area – especially in the finance area – with several large companies (Pitney Bowes, Starwood, Indeed, among others) headquartered in the community. It is only a 45-minute commute to NYC and New Haven. It is also very close to Queens, New Rochelle, Riverdale, Monsey, and Teaneck.
There are houses, condos, and rentals all available within a short walk of both synagogues, and property taxes are about half of what you would pay for a similar home in Westchester, Long Island, and Northern New Jersey.
Many people feel that the Stamford community tends to be less judgmental about religious differences and hashkafa issues and is very accepting of those who may not exactly fit the mold of the typical Orthodox family.
Come visit . . . and see why so many Orthodox families have been attracted to this exceptional community!

Hampton Roads, which loosely describes Southeastern Virginia from near Williamsburg all the way to the Oceanfront, is a beautiful area with a warm, loving community just a drive or train ride from Baltimore and NYC. The frum community mostly lives in the Norfolk neighborhood of Ghent, a vibrant, walkable, and affordable area near downtown. Close to jobs and transit, homes within the eruv are $400-$600K, and the community is adjacent to major hospitals including a wellregarded children’s hospital (CHKD).
We currently have one dairy cafe and a meat restaurant/ deli, Cold Stone Creamery, Krispy Kreme, Cinnaholic, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and other local establishments under VAAD supervision. A wide range of kosher products is sold in major grocery stores (Wegmans, Publix, Trader Joe’s, etc.) across the area, including the community’s Harris Teeter with multiple dedicated kosher sections. Establishments in Baltimore and Lakewood make recurring deliveries across the region.
Founded in 1946, B’nai Israel Congregation is the oldest continuously operating Orthodox synagogue in the region. Our neighborhood also includes a Chabad shul and a thriving Kollel. Another Chabad shul is located at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, only a 25-minute drive away. We have 2

RICHMOND VIRGINIA
In Richmond, VA, just a short drive from DC, Baltimore, and New York, you will find a vibrant Jewish community of wholesome living in a uniquely southern environment.
In this land of “Sirs” and “Ma’ams,” where good middos are second nature, our K-8 Jewish day school, Boy’s Yeshiva High School and Beis Midrash, and Girl’s High School offer top quality educational programs taught by teachers with average tenure in our schools of over 18 years.
A state-sponsored education improvement scholarship program enables the community to provide tuition scholarships for grades K-12 for modest income families (for example, a family of 4 children with income under $106.7K would likely qualify).
There are multiple choices for davening (shul, yeshiva), an array of adult learning opportunities, a fully functioning Vaad Hakashrus, an eruv and a beautiful new mikvah.
