A charter amendment to relieve the street railway company from the cost of paving between its rails will be submitted to the voters at the election on April 12. This relief which we are asking the voters to give us is only for the cost of new paving or repaving. I t has nothing to do with the maintenance of paving which is damaged because our tracks or ties may break down, or with replacement of paving after we do repair work; we expect to continue as usual paying this maintenance cost.

— a Reasonable Request to Reasonable People

]

A law which requires the street railway company to pave between its rails was passed by the Legislature inore than forty years ago at a time when our cars were drawn by horses, which were very destructive to pavement. The law was fair then, but the reason for it has long since disappeared.

To give us relief from paving cost will not raise General Taxes, because paving is paid for by abutting property. In this connection, we do not believe properly which hasi the benefit of a.street car line, should be relieved of l»art of its paving cost when all other property must pay its full paving cost.

We believe in the fairness -and the reasonableness of Omaha people, and we believe this request for relief from paying1 cost is a reasonable request. Today, in Omaha as well as in every-other city, street car companies must institute every possible economy if they continue to live. }

WORLD Legislature Re-endorses Balfour Declaration Trenton, N. J.—After hearing Dr. Nahum Sokolow, president of the World Zionist Organizations, the New Jersey legislature unanimously adopted a resolution reaffirming its endorsement in 1919 of the Balfour Declaration. Pasteurization is the "light" that is guiding millions of people to safe milk. Proper pasteurization is heating milk to a temperature known to destroy any harmful bacteria the milk might contain. Without pasteurization, it would be impossible to insure this city a safe milk supply.
