In his message, Commander Miller said: "The Jewish War Veteran Is listed on the very first pages of American History. His history continues through the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, on both Sides of the Civil War, the Span* ish American War, World War I. World War II and finally to the conflict in Korea. $30,000 in First Response To Cosh Drive. Feder Reports About $30,000 in cash has come In during the past few days in response to the special Cash Appeal of the Jewish Philanthropies, David Fcdcr, Pledge Redemption chairman, reported today. "This Initial response Is most encouraging to all of us," Mr. Feder said, "because It means that we will be In a position to start making payments to some 200 agencies which receive funds from the annual Philanthropies Campaign. This list Includes Omahn, national and overseas agencies and institutions. Every Jew In Omaha has a deep concern 'and Interest in all of them," Mr. Fedcr concluded. From Initial estimates, it appears that an additional $100,000 In cash will have to come In during the month of December, to enable the Philanthropies to meet commitments to agendes which fall due at this time.
"So far," Mr. Feder Indicated, payments have been mailed by subscribers In response to our Initial call. We earnestly hope that we can avoid; setting up Bpedal follow-up committees to gather in the cash.
