Speaking of dedication, I am ever mindful of the dedication that our Jewish Voice staff and team of volunteers have shown throughout the year as they have faithfully ministered the love of God in the power of the Spirit to tens of thousands of ailing bodies and searching souls in the name of Jesus, the Messiah. God is pouring out His blessings upon the scattered remnant of Israel living in remote places in Africa and India with His healing touch and mighty presence. He continues to demonstrate His faithfulness and grace, enabling us to treat even more patients at our clinics this year than last year. As I write this, we are concluding our clinic outreach in Gondar, Ethiopia. To date this year, we have treated 39,539 and have witnessed 9,913 precious people (Jews and non-Jews alike) commit their lives to the Lord. And, with one final clinic to go, we expect to have even more good news as we finish the year. Your prayers and financial partnership have made this all possible and we are forever grateful. Together, we are making an eternal difference in the lives of Jewish People around the world. May the Lord continue to bless our work together as we dedicate ourselves to reach even more precious souls in 2014! And may He bless you richly for being an instrument of blessing to the Jewish People! Your partner to the Jew first and also to the Nations,

Report From the Field: Mberengwa, Zimbabwe A Toddler Walks . . . for the First Time His mother carried him into the Prayer Room. Expressionless and quiet, the boy was not behaving like an average three-year-old who would more likely be darting off here and there with curious enthusiasm. This little boy had never walked. He’d been paralyzed on his right side all of his life. Carried everywhere by his mother, he was a toddler who couldn’t even toddle.

By the time you read this, the Jewish Festival of Chanukah will have just concluded. Known as the “Feast of Dedication,” it celebrates the rededication of the Temple in 164 B.C. after it had been desecrated by Antiochus Epiphanes IV, the ruler of the Seleucid Empire and a type of anti-Christ.

His mother told Prayer Room volunteer Linda Speakman and her translator that the boy was a twin and the birth process had left him paralyzed and mentally deficient. “No! He is not mentally deficient. He is normal,” the translator assured the woman. Poverty forces many limitations on people. The inability to have her baby examined by a doctor left this mother speculating about her little boy’s condition.

Linda and her translator prayed. They prayed to our loving God for this boy’s healing. When his mother put him down on the ground, he walked! Getting used to his new ability, he turned and fell down with a gentle plop. Linda stood him up again and positioned herself behind him so he had a clear path to walk to his mama. She was surprised when the little boy turned around and walked right to her instead. He stayed securely on his feet as he reached out to hug her.

Connections His eyes told a story Linda will never forget. There was adoration as his eyes met hers. “I know that he knew Jesus had healed him,” Linda said. While they prayed for his mother, the little boy held onto the chair and jumped up and down with glee. As the mother prepared to leave the prayer tent, she did something she had done thousands of times: She picked up her son. Linda asked her to put him down so he could walk. Seeing her resistance, another team member asked also. With furrowed eyes of doubt, she put her son down. Her little boy, who had never walked before that day, took off out the door as his mother followed, amazed! “What a joy it is to serve Yeshua and watch the Holy Spirit work!”
Back forty-five minutes later, Dr. Kathy took a stethoscope to Baby Tim’s chest. She hoped for signs of improvement and that the little guy might be breathing a bit easier. What she discovered was something different. Baby Tim’s chest was completely free! “This was clearly a miracle of God,” Kathy said. When God chooses to act in miraculous ways, it is such a gift! We are blessed beyond measure to witness such miracles. Through these signs and wonders, God is seen to be God. He is glorified as all eyes involved are drawn to Him in awe and faith. It is a great privilege to participate in the events that “show God off ” to these precious people. Whether you go, send, or pray, you participate in the miracles God performs during our medical outreaches.
Desperate to Breathe
When a patient is too sick or hurting to get around the clinic easily, two-way radios are used to call prayer warriors to various medical departments. Davene and her translator prayed for Mikel in the nurses’ station. Davene remembers feeling led to pray some very specific things. “I prayed for the living waters of Yeshua to flow through his body, for the pain to be gone, that a new liver be formed, and for the cancer to be gone.” Yeshua said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water’” ( John 7:38). “How do you feel, Mikel?” Davene asked. With a smile on his face he said, “Like cool water is in my body.” He said his pain was gone and explained to them that at one point he felt a shift inside his stomach, as if something had moved back into the right position. When the nurse came back to check on him, she saw the difference and noted how much better he looked. Mikel hadn’t come alone to the clinic. His unbelieving son was with him. He was brought to us right from a local hospital an hour-and-a-half ’s drive away. He still had the IV in his wrist. Evidently, on their way home from the hospital, his mother saw JVMI’s free medical clinic. She had taken him to the hospital but still he gasped rapidly for air with troubled lungs. She had to see if we could help him. A few days earlier, Baby Tim had breathed cooking fuel into his lungs. Dr. Kathy knew how serious his condition was and the grave danger he faced. During her residency she had a similar case involving a three-year-old child. That child was in the pediatric intensive care unit on a ventilator and ultimately died just a few days after being admitted. With that young face from the past newly impressing upon her mind, Dr. Kathy admits that at first she was not optimistic about Baby Tim. She did what she could and gave him a combination of medicines designed to fight infection, reduce pain, and open his airways. Waiting for the medication to take effect, she attended to additional patients.
