Shell creates a sense of mass when placed on top of delicate rib structure.
Shell tip points upwards to suggest opening of the pavilion entrance, inviting people inside while creating views outwards.
Light filiters through beams to create dynamic shadowing on the interior of the pavilion.
Ribs parametrically oriented along profile curve to create a sweeping motion.
Central spine detailing showing slot structure.
Raised landscape creates an occulus at ground level to permit views out of the pavilion.
Curving landscape defines interior space and visualises curvature of ribs.
Stairs continute into tiered seating along interior edges.
Sunken interior space creates enclosed volume in contrast to the ‘floating’ shell and raised landscape.
Entrance to pavilion acts as the primary atmospheric and spatial threshold on the site.
