Medication, testing & safety
All horses training and competing in the Kingdom of Bahrain will be subject to the following:
• A Welfare and Integrity examination within 48 hours of the race. This examination will be conducted by our Chief Veterinary Regulatory Officer. This examination consists of a visual inspection of all four aspects of the horse, then a trot in hand (away from and toward) on a firm level surface.

• If your horse has a questionable action at the trot, then it is advised that you request your home veterinary surgeon to write a report detailing the horses’ action and forward this with an accompanying video (front, back and sides, 25 metre trot in hand) to our Chief regulatory veterinary officer, Dr Rob van Pelt (rob@rehc.gov.bh). All information provided will be treated with the upmost confidentiality.
• Horses will be monitored during routine exercise.
• All horses will be subject to a pre-race TCO2 blood test, within 45 minutes of racing. If the returned result is greater than 36 mmol/lt on both the A and B sample (B sample tested immediately) then the horse will be scratched from the race, and the matter reported to the stewards.
• It is advised that all trainers make themselves aware of the anti doping policies that exist in the Kingdom of Bahrain d28qafuxp4ng49.cloudfront.net/documents/REHCRules-of-Racing.pdf
