5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD STRESS-FREE DURING EXAMS
Stress is the last thing you want on child’s plate right before their exams. It can ruin a paper that was well prepared for. It can neutralize all the hard work done by your child. You must be doing all you can to make sure it doesn’t come to the point. But, apart from measures to keep your child stress-free during exams during, you must also know what causes stress in the first place. By eliminating it from the source, you can ensure a bright future for your little one. Below-mentioned tips will not only help your kid during exams but will also make sure stress remains at bay.
Here are 5 ways to keep your child stress-free during exams
1. Introduce physical activities I have also mentioned this in one of my previous posts. Playing outdoor games and working out produces serotonin ( the feel-good hormone) and make your cortisol (stress hormone) go down. Working out helps you as much mentally as it helps you physically. If you think your kid would waste time in playing during exam time, then take them for an early morning jog. Or, get a fitness instructor at home for aerobics, Zumba, HIIT, self-defense, etc. Exposing them to physical activities will make them happier and you’ll be able to keep your child stress-free during exams. 2. Make sure they get a good night’s sleep Besides working out, you also need to make sure that your child is getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. A good sleep will increase their memory and lower the stress levels (cortisol). Adequate sleep plays a crucial role towards enhancing your memory. What you study, gets temporarily saved in your brain until you go to sleep. All that information will travel inside your brain to a more permanent location during your sleep. This will free up the workspace for the next day’s study. That is why they say, you should study in the morning because the brain is fresh and has a lot of scope to learn new things.
3. Exam time should mean revision time Most children don’t study regularly and often end up with a pile of books to be studied in a fraction of the time actually required to study. Most of the time, what you studied the at the very last moment slips away from your mind. Also, certain areas need consistent practice, such as math. If a child has never practiced adequately until the exam time, he would definitely get stressed out of fear. Instead of trying to ease their stress, you must make sure your children study on a daily basis so that there won’t be any burden on them during exam time. To keep your child stress-free during exams, do ensure your child’s continuous studies. A great way to do that is to get a Qriyo home tutor. With consistency and personal attention, your child will not only study every day.
4. Feed them nutritious food frequently during the day The human brain is 60% fat, and it needs good fat to develop new brain cells and increase brain power. Feed them either fatty fish twice a week, or EPA and DHA supplements from your nearest pharmacy. I have explained this in deep in one of my previous posts. Click here to know more such as importance, dosage, etc. You must provide proper nutrition (Carbohydrates, fiber, unsaturated fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals) to your child for his overall development
5. Divide their syllabus into short milestones A child often gets worried when he realizes he has to finish everything in just 2 days for the exam. When a person sees a pile of work to be done in a specific period of time, usually he doubts his abilities to do that. It is definitely doable (provided the kid is only revising), still the kid will think it can’t be done. You tell them to not think of the whole syllabus at once, just keep finishing chapter by chapter, and before you know it, it will be over. Tell to focus on finishing just one chapter, and then move towards another one. Thinking it can’t be done will only increase his stress levels.
