New England Home Infusion, Inc. specializes in dispensing and administering adult and pediatric intravenous therapies in the comfort of patients’ homes. Based in Coventry, Rhode Island, the company is also licensed in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and provides for the medical needs of patients throughout Southeastern New England. Specialized medications and equipment are delivered to patients’ residences, which are monitored by our dedicated and experienced pharmacy and nursing staffs.
INFUSION THERAPIES New England Home Infusion (NEHI) provides adult and pediatric intravenous therapies in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The NEHI’s pharmacy and nursing staff monitor medication dosages and schedules as well as lab results. Patients are evaluated and educated by a nurse to ensure proper delivery techniques are used, minimizing patient risk and maximizing successful treatment outcomes. Equipment needed for each therapy is supplied and delivered to patients’ homes. Therapies provided by New England Home Infusion include: Hemophilia Services: We are an accredited provider of home care and pharmacy services for people with Hemophilia and related bleeding disorders. NEHI services fully engage Hemophilia patients and their families in a total care management plan.
Alpha-1 Therapy: NEHI is a provider of AralastTM (manufactured by Baxter Healthcare) and Zemaira® (manufactured by CSL Behring), the latest therapies to treat antitrypsin deficiency (Alpha-1). Alpha-1 is a hereditary form of emphysema. In addition to providing care, NEHI takes an active role in promoting testing for a disease that is severely under diagnosed.
Transplant Services: NEHI is a leader in providing home infusion and services to pre- and post-transplant patients throughout the transplants continuum. NEHI’s program supports both allogenic blood or marrow transplant patients as well as all types or organ transplant. Specialty Pharmacy: Synagis® Vivaglobin® AralastTM Avonex® Betaseron® Cerezyme® Copaxone® Fabrazyme® Remicade® Lupron® Neulasts® and more. Clinical Trials: Our Clinical Trial program provides in-home clinical research services for Phase I through IV clinical trials and is Sponsored by both the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Clinical research studies involves participants taking intravenous, injectable, oral and enteral medications. Our services involve in-home nursing assessments and procedures such as investigational drug administration – infusions/injections, laboratory sampling (including PK sampling) – and utilization analysis for study protocols in the home and pharmacy. Pharmacy services include procurement and storage of FDAapproved Comparator drugs for dispensing to investigational sites. In addition, we routinely store, compound and dispense study (investigational) drugs to sites. Antibiotic and Antiviral: Short- and longterm intravenous antibiotic therapy can be administered in the home with ambulatory, easy-to-use pumps, by means of gravity or push methods. Patients remain mobile and receive their antibiotics at home to avoid unnecessary hospitalization. Patients, along with their family members, are taught infusion techniques to facilitate independence and minimize disruption of normal daily activities. Nutritional Support: Total parenteral nutrition is an intravenous support program that supplies glucose, protein, vitamins, electrolytes, trace elements, and fats to maintain the body’s growth, development, and tissue repair that may be required as a result of many illnesses.
Immunoglobulin: Immuno-compromised patients can be infused at home with IgG products, eliminating the need to obtain therapy at a clinic or hospital. Pain & Palliative Care: Committed to addressing the needs of patients who suffer from pain and related symptoms, we have designed a program of services based on specific assessment, innovative treatment delivery strategies, and identification of resources to alleviate pain and suffering. Our clinicians are trained to provide consultations and ongoing assessment to maximize comfort, while utilizing the least invasive modality. Chemotherapy: Due to significant technological advancements, various chemotherapeutic agents can be administered safely and effectively in the home, which can eliminate hospital stays and decrease patient anxiety that often accompanies a diagnosis of cancer. Cardiac/Intropic Therapy: Treatment of Chronic Congestive Heart Failure (CCHF) patients is complex. NEHI staff is experienced with patients awaiting transplant, as well as those with advanced heart failure. NEHI’s goal is to provide complete care for symptoms and therapies to support comfort while the patient remains at home. Chelation: Chelation therapy removes heavy metals from the body and can be ordered as a short- or long-term therapy, which is easily administered in home settings by a qualified pediatric-infusion-nurse.
NURSING Many patients in a hospital or long-term care facility require skilled care after discharge. New England Home Infusion offers nursing services that can be provided up to several times a week.
