Nearly five dozen business from the Teton region and as far away as Washington and Oregon will gather noon to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Snow King Sports and Events Center. From new bedding and kitchen cutlery to roofing, landscaping and construction, participants at this year's Home Show are ready to help with
spring jobs of every magnitude. Cleaning, storing, energy conservation, technology, roofing, water purification, windows and window coverings, even John Deere equipment: The Home Show is a one-stop shop to help you and your home shake off winter and get ready for summer. Also available are financial services, if you need help figuring out how to pay for those renovations or new construction, and spas and even beauty supplies to help relax and celebrate after the job is done. Admission is free. Stop at the reception desk and fill out an entry to win $250 cash toward your project or projects. Long-term exposure to elevated levels of radon has been linked to lung cancer in people. Radon enters homes through cracks and other holes in the foundation and plumbing. Wyoming is a zone 1 radon area, which means we have the highest potential to have elevated radon levels. In 2015, 40 percent of the homes tested in Teton County had high radon levels with an average level of 8.8 pCi/L.The Environmental Protection Agency action level is 4.0 pCi/L. High radon levels can be reduced through installation of a mitigation system that vents the radon outside instead of allowing it to collect in your home. If you are interested in testing the radon level in your home, Teton County Public Health sells short-term radon test kits for $10. It will take three to seven days to run the test, and results are available within a week.
