P roduct Gui de 2 010 aGrowax PHC AgroWax is an homogenous natural wax and is easily applied as a liquid to the leaf surface, where it slightly modifies the natural outer wax layer on the surface of the leaf. This modified cuticular wax is effectively ‘smoother’ and has a lower resistance leading to early water bead formation by surface water on the leaves. These beads of water quickly roll off the leaf, leaving the leaf drier. The drying of the leaf by encouraging water to be shed will have beneficial implication on leaf health, with less water available for bacterial and fungal spore germination. PHC AgroWax applied to the surface of the leaf after also helps to bolster existing cuticular wax, and replace any lost wax, which may otherwise have lead to disease penetration of the leaf. PHC AgroWax has no detrimental effect on the action of the plants stomata and will not affect transpiration or photosynthesis. PHC AgroWax is non-toxic to fish or animals when diluted correctly.

aGrowax can: • Be applied in combination with any existing pesticide formulation • Holds active ingredients on the leaf of plants and to minimise water erosion, and as such may lead to residue issues if used close to the harvest interval

Do not USe aGrowax: • Where compatibility problems are expected by increased absorption of the active ingredients (e.g. a too fast absorption of sulphonyl-urea containing products by nontolerant maize varieties) 9951203

P roduct Gui de 2 010 calIente lIqUID A variation on the PHC Caliente theme, this easy-to use liquid contains the distilled power of natural plant extracts Important: This material is classified as a biofumigant and as such is a major irritant to mucus membranes as found on most parasitic nematodes and worms. Use this liquid product to irrigate in to the soil at times of heightened nematode activity. The active irritants of chili extract and mustard extract cause the outer mucus membrane of these parasitic worms to become inflamed and it effectively suffocates them on contact. Irrigation water volumes are key to this working in soil-based systems. key benefits: • Easy to use liquid formulation • Fast acting - acts on contact • Reduces stress on plants roots • Can lead to a ‘green-up’ of foliage. 9 9114 2 2 9 911416

First, it is a microbial inoculant containing numerous strains of rhizosphere bacteria and fungi that fix nitrogen, solubilize phosphorus, and recycle mineral nutrients through the breakdown of organic matter. These include spores of select strains of Bacillus and Streptomyces bacteria, and Trichoderma fungi. Second, ColonizeTM AG contains formononetin, an isoflavonoid which increases the degree of root colonization by introduced and native vesiculararbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi. Together, the activities of these beneficial bacteria and fungi promote plant health by improving soil fertility and plant nutrition in the natural way. Colonize AG is not a plant food product.

P roduct Gui de 2 010 FroStect PHC Frostect is a pre-frost treatment of concentrated Harpin protein. By using the benefit of longrange weather forecasting we can now apply Frostect prior to a frost event. If treated 2-4 days prior to a significant frost event plants stimulated by the Harpin protein have shown significant improvements in resistance of frost damage. The use of the Harpin protein prior to frost triggers the plant to harden itself, essentially pre-stressing the plant to enable better tolerance of the harsh frost that is about to happen. The Harpin protein also promotes cell growth after the frost subsides. Applications to soft and top fruit as well as hardy nursery stock vary from 100g/Ha to 200g/Ha. Directions for Use of FrosTect:

• Second, to boost the biological activity, we inoculate the product with our unique rhizosphere bacteria. Six hardworking species, which together, perform phosphorus solubilization and nitrogen fixation. • Third, we add iron in a slow-release sucrate form that is not susceptible to leaching. • Finally, we included humic acids, which are naturally present in forest soils, but are lacking in managed settings. Humic acids help to improve root uptake of minerals even in unfavorable pH environments.

• Apply FrosTect to the tank first, before any other material. Mix well.

• The nutrients formulated in our tablet take up to 2 years to be completely released.

• Once FrosTect has been mixed with water, use within 4-6 hours. Do not use product from a package that has been opened for more than 24 hours. Always re-seal the packages correctly, ensuring the seal is air-tight.

MycorTM Mini Plug is a highly concentrated, dry mix spore inoculant for establishing vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) symbiosis on roots of plants grown in small container plugs, including trees and shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables. A high propagule concentration is needed to ensure adequate inoculation of each container cell. VAM plants have better survival and growth, absorb more nutrients, especially phosphorus and other mineral elements, and have improved abilities to efficiently absorb more water from soil than plants without VAM. MycorTM Mini Plug contains spores and other propagules of four different VAM fungi that are compatible with most VAM plants. The spore concentration is very high (630,000 per kg) to ensure inoculation of small containers and plugs. MycorTM Mini Plug also contains ColonizeTM, our patented stimulant of VAM fungi, to promote rapid colonization of the root system.

CONTENTS Spores of VA Mycorrhizal fungi ColonizeTM

Minimum 630,000 spores per kg of a mixture of two species of VAM fungi Proprietary stimulant VAM fungi

APPLICATION RATES MycorTM Mini Plug is applied by blending thoroughly into the potting mix at a rate of 1-kg/m3 of container mix. For tomatoes and peppers, use 2-kg/m3. Avoid high levels of fertiliser, especially available phosphorus, which can inhibit VAM development and mask its benefits to plants. MycorTM Mini Plug can be used alone, or as the initial phase of a comprehensive program involving microbial products like PHC BioPak®, Compete® Plus, PHC® Seakelp and the surfacant Yuccah®. Contact Plant Health Care for information on a complete program.

Plants grown in soil-less media or fumigated soils often suffer from a root system that lacks the natural and beneficial mycorrhizal fungal partnerships which are important for natural, healthy growth. By inoculating roots with proven VAM fungal associates early in life, the health of these plants is greatly enhanced. VAM occur naturally on the majority of plant species of the world, but are often absent in artificial propagation systems. Flowers, vegetables (except Brassica), bedding plants and other plants propagated in mini plugs can benefit from this inoculant. Benefits: • Improve water uptake and drought tolerance • Increase absorption of mineral elements

MIxING INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLICATION RATES Mix N-Hibit as follows: • Add water to the mix tank and provide gentle agitation. • Add the required amount of N-Hibit. Agitate until dissolved, avoid excessive foaming. • Apply promptly. • Allow 30 minutes for the protein to fully activate (dissolve). • Can be pre-mixed in good quality water.

Seeds, tubers and bulbs can be treated with a Harpin application up to 2 months before planting. Once treated the Harpin protein binds to the Harpin receptors pressent in all plant tissue and the plants rapidly turn on stress-defence and growth systems once vegetative growth starts. This results in improved crop vigour, stamina, nutrient uptake, and growth. Combined, all these outcomes provide the grower with a stronger and more resiliant plant. Seed treatment: This protein can be conbined with conventional chemistries for the commercial seed treatment of pesticides. Please consult PHC before use to check compatibilities Tuber Wash This is the most important application of the PHC Potato Programme. This wash can be applied up to 2 months prior to planting. This application of Harpin starts the biochemical process that help to protect the root tissues from attack. P roduct Gui de 2 010 PHC PLANT FEED

P roduct Gui de 2 010 !

PHC Plant Feed is a blended fertiliser based on plant extracts. It is naturally high in nitrogen, mainly in the form of amino acids and is readily absorbed in to the leaves and roots. It is a great boost for plants that are growing in streeful situations, where these beneficial amino acids are assimilated and utilised to help overcome the stress with very little effort on the part of the plant.

Mix with a minimum of 10 litres water for every 1 litre of PHC Plant Feed and apply at desired rate. Can be tank mixed with PHC water soluble bacterial products and is fully compatible with PHC Yuccah natural wetting agent.

Give your plants a natural boost.

50-100 litres in 400 litres water per Hectare

key Benefits:

Apply through spray or directly in irrigation water.

• Non-phytotoxic, tank mix for ease of use with your regular spraying routine

If sprayed, water in with 10ml water to thoroughly wash the feed from the leaf. Failure to do so may result in scorching. Rates are a guide only.

• Provides the turf with both fast acting stress beating amino acids through foliar and root absorption • Promotes hardy blades and fast recovery from damage due to traffic or mowing

PHC GRANULAR PLANT FEED

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

PHC Granular Plant Feed is uniform plant-derived highnitrogen plant feed that has been approved for use in controlled input organic farms by the Soil Association.

FOLIAR APPLICATION 5 - 20 litres in 200 litres water per Hectare PHC Plant Feed contains around 40% ammoniaical nitrogen, allowing it to be used as an excellent foliar feed. Repeating every 14 days, for 3-5 cycles. Rates are a guide only. Over application may cause slight scorching.

SOIL DRENCH

The combination of nutrients, amino acids and sugars present in PHC Plant Feed will help to sustain root growth in the most hostile environments (a USGA specification golf green!)

• Feeds microbial population in the soil ecosystem

PHC Plant Feed is available as a balanced mix of N:P:k. as with all organically sourced materials the analysis may vary by as much as 15 per cent. Typical analysis is as follows: 11-0-5 N:P:k + Micronutrients 8% amino-derived Nitrogen 3% organically bound Nitrogen Element as % w/v averages, varying by up to 10%

PHC Granular Plant Feed is a fast-acting fertiliser for use in broadcast or in-row applications. The granules are fast to dissolve in water and give a balanced feed to the plants over several weeks. Around 50 per cent of the nitrogen is initially available for plant growth over 30 days followed by slower release of around three units per month, depending on bacterial activity (soil temperature and moisture). The nature of the nitrogen helps to ensure very little is lost compared to conventional urea fertilisation.

Drill numerous such holes to cover the entire area beneath the canopy, from the trunk outward to slightly beyond the drip line following a grid pattern with approximately 75 cm spacing between holes. Two hundred (200) holes at this spacing will cover about 125 square metres, equivalent to the area beneath a 12m diameter canopy. Alternate Method Using Premixed Vertimulch Fill: Mix 2 kg PHC Vertimulch per 100 Litres of soil. Drill holes as described above and fill with mix. Radial Trench Treatment: Mix PHC Vertimulch with mulch or fill at a rate of 85g (1-scoop) per 100 square cm of trench. For example, for a 10 cm wide trench, 85g of Vertimulch would treat 1-linear metre of trench. For wider or narrower trenches, adjust rate accordingly based on square metre coverage of the trench.
