ASSISTANT COACH SIXTH YEAR // LOUISVILLE, 2010 & LOUISIANA-MONROE 2012
Danielle Burbage enters her sixth season with the Southeast Missouri track and field team as an assistant coach. Burbage serves as the Redhawks sprints, hurdles and relays coach.
In her time at Southeast, she has coached decathletes to 18 personal-best marks (six indoors, 12 outdoors) and her heptathletes have earned eight career-high scores (three indoor, five outdoor).
In 2020, Burbage coached Ohio Valley Conference OVC Male Freshman of the Year, Nick Bryant, who secured Gold in the 400 meters during the final day of the 2020 OVC Indoor Track & Field Championship before the outdoor season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also coached Anterreon McClain who captured Silver in the 60 meter dash.
In 2017, Burbage coached Nick South who was the OVC Men’s Indoor Heptathlon Champion and the OVC Outdoor Men’s Decathlon Silver medalist as the Redhawks men were named 2017 OVC Outdoor Track & Field Champions. She also coached NCAA West Preliminary Qualifiers Zach Gordon and Brannon Wright who finished first and second at the OVC Outdoor Championship.
Burbage helped coach Taylor Coffelt to an outstanding senior year where Coffelt set six personal records. Coffelt won gold in the heptathlon with a careerhigh score of 4877 at the 2016 OVC Outdoor Championships where she reached personal bests in both high jump (1.60m) and the 200m dash (26.13).
During the 2014-15 season, Burbage served as the director of operations at the University of Louisville. She managed the team budget, was in charge of alumni relations and fundraising, organized team travel and logistics along with home meet operations and oversaw equipment orders among other duties.
Burbage was also a volunteer coach at Louisville and assisted with jumps and multi-events for the Cardinals. She worked closely with NCAA long jump qualifier Brittany Owens and 100m hurdler Briana Brown in that role.
Prior to returning to her alma mater, Louisville, Burbage was an assistant coach at Wilmington College (Ohio). There, she coached one NCAA Division III qualifier in the 400m hurdles and was a part of the 2013 Ohio Atlantic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.
In addition, Burbage monitored classroom activities and efforts of student-athletes, while helping with the program’s day-to-day operations.
Burbage previously served as a graduate assistant at the University of LouisianaMonroe where she earned her Master’s in Education Technology Leadership in 2012. She assisted with short sprints and relays, and helped the team’s recruiting efforts.
Burbage, a Paducah, Kentucky, native, was a member of the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Big East Championship teams at Louisville. She competed in the 100m, 200m and both 4x100m and 4x400m relays as a member of the Cardinals track & field team. Burbage received a Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration from Louisville in 2010.
