Voltage Regulator is a device that is use to maintain a consistent voltage output. Voltage Regulators are the ones responsible for maintaining the voltage output within the range so that the appliances or other electronic device safely accept the incoming current. A voltage regulator can also be called a power supply or a transformer. Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) An Automatic Voltage Regulator or Voltage Stabilizer is designed to automatically maintain a more stable means of voltage level, a kind of circuitry that watches over the voltage drop across the voltage terminal. It may be implemented by using electromechanical component (coil relays) or passive or active (solid state) electronic components. The functionality relies on the circuit design. It can be employ to regulate one or more AC or DC voltages. Uses Of A Voltage Regulators One of the most common and popular devices that requires the aid of a voltage regulators is a computer. It's voltage regulator generates the computer's voltage output in a minimum so that it won't damage any components inside it. A computer is a good example of electronic system that require voltage regulator. Automatic Voltage regulator is needed to surpass it's need of voltage stability. Some computers use special programmable voltage ID's that's why it may require one or two voltage regulators depending on the system. This special programmable voltage ID is used by microprocessors to ensure a specific voltage level the computer needed. Vehicles, most specifically a car, also use voltage regulators in their system to maintain its battery's charge. It is usually a part of the vehicles alternator, although some cars (old cars in particular and some modern models) have exterior voltage regulators. The vehicle's alternators are the ones used to generate power for the vehicles battery in order to maintain a full charge. The power that is generated by the vehicle's charging system is also used to run it's electrical system to be use for headlights, audio system (e.g. radio, sub-buffer), automatic windows and locks, ventilation system, and other elements that needed power in order to be used. W hy do we need Automatic Voltage Regulator
Computers are more sensitive on voltage surges and fluctuation. It direct voltage source can cause damage in computers components. It will cost you more if you didn't buy an AVR than actually buying one for your computer. Excessively high voltage output can cause the engine a much higher acceleration. If the alternator is unregulated, it could send a surge though the system. Overcharging the battery can damage the car's electrical system. If the alternator fail to produce the needed power and provided a very low-output will create a load on the battery and reduced the battery's life. W hat To Do If Your Voltage Regulator Stop Working If your current voltage regulator stop working, it needs to be replace with a new one. For basic household electronics such as computer that requires the aid for voltage regulators, it is best if you buy quality and reliable voltage regulators in your preferred electronics store near you or online. Cars and other vehicles have seperate electronic shop that sells voltage regulators. Most cars alternators have voltage regulators inside, which require the owner to buy a new alternator or rebuild the existing one with a new voltage regulator.
