Asian Student Union (ASU)

Belly Dancing Troupe

ASU is a collaborative union that promotes and teaches the Asian Culture. The organization teaches others about the importance of the Asian Culture as well as educating themselves on the subject matter. ASU also participates in community service to help with our service to others.

The mission is to mentor young women in order to create healthy and strong individuals who are socially and ethically responsible to themselves and their community. The purposes for each girls is: to find her own voice and be able to listen to it; to have better self-esteem and confidence; to respect, appreciate and be ableto care for her own body; to be ready to face independence, able to plan and achieve goals, create options and resources; to respect, appreciate and be able to care for others in the community; to respect and appreciate diversity and culture..

Black Student Union (BSU) The Black Student Union of Albuquerque Public Schools , in collaboration with teachers, parents, and the community, will educate itself and others about African American History and culture. The BSU will also promote and prepare ALL to become contributing members of a diverse, changing world with respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of others.

Creative Writing Club It is the intention of the Creative Writing Club to allow students to express themselves creatively through the written word and share their ideas in a safe environment. We aim to help students improve and grow in their writing process and pursuits.

Choir The Manzano High School Choral Program seeks to promote vocal music and positivity in our school community and beyond through performance. We nurture an enjoyment and understanding of music, explore creativity in expression of feelings and ideas, expand awareness and appreciation of different kinds of music and different cultures, develop skills in cooperative learning, and represent MHS with poise and pride. DECA DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Educators Rising

FTC/Ubuntu

Educators Rising explores the teaching profession. We are here to support all of the wonderful and extraordinary teachers! We work with local elementary and middle schools to support their teachers and staff.

To help those less fortunate in and out of our community. To work with the parent companion of Free the Children to work on building systematic change in 3rd world countries and to work with local community services organizations to improve Albuquerque.

Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA)

German Honor Society

Support for students; Advocacy for love of diversity on MHS campus.

Delta Epsilon Phi (ΔΕΦ) National Honor Society for High School Students of German recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of learners of German and rewards scholastic achievement in the study of German and to promote interest in the study of German language, literature, and civilization.

Key Club Manzano High School Key Club is part of the international organization of Key Clubs, the oldest and largest service organization for high school students. Members of Key Club complete a variety of service projects and volunteer opportunities throughout the school year, both in the community and at school. Key Club is open to all students.

MESA New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement, Inc. (NM MESA) prepares middle and high school students for college majors and careers in mathematics, engineering, science and related fields. NM MESA supports programs throughout the state, in which students participate in activities such as field trips, speaker presentations, workshops, academic competitions, community service and leadership development.

Mexican Folk Dance This class is open to EVERYONE regardless of their dance experience. We learn the basics of traditional Mexican and Latin dances, and perform at assemblies, during lunch and at dance festivals. Shoes and costumes are provided for the Mexican folk dances, but students can also bring their own if they have them.

Orchestra

Model UN Model UN (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the UN agenda.

National Honor Society

The MHS Orchestra is one of the top in the state. It rehearses daily, goes on trips, works with professionals, does at least 4 concerts a year and has a lot of fun! Prior orchestral playing experience required!

National Honor Society is an organization designed to recognize and foster academic achievement, leadership, service, and character. Students apply and are selected for membership each spring. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 for 3 semesters in order to be eligible to apply for membership. Members of National Honor Society spend much of their time in service to the school and community.

Native American Club

Operation Smile

The Native American club will create a safe environment for Native American students to feel welcome to express their identity.

We raise money to help children with cleft lip deformation to receive the operation

PawPrint

SkillsUSA

As the MHS student newspaper, the Paw Print publishes six times a year. Our goal is to provide news, editorials, sports, and reviews of movies, books, and music to the student body. The Paw Print is a great way to get coupons for local businesses and to see what is going on in the Manzano Community.

SkillsUSA’s mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

Spanish Honor Society

Special Olympics

Students with at least 3 semester of Spanish class are invited by their teachers to join our organization. We do community service on and off campus, and strive to continue to learn Spanish by attending various cultural events in Albuquerque. We take field trips to Spanish restaurants, learn Latin dances, and attend events like the Day of the Dead parade.

Special Olympics participates in NMAA competitions such as Bowling, Track, and more!

Student Alliance for Mental Health Support The organization is designed for students, as well as all members of the Manzano community to offer support for the mentally ill. Any student or teacher with ADD, ADHD, Bi-Polar, Schizophrenia, Depression, eating disorders, etc., and any students interested in supporting other students with mental illness will meet once a week in K227 to discuss school related issues. The alliance will work directly with parents, to offer each other support, discuss coping and learning tools, and create a safety net. The alliance will also work towards creating mental health awareness. There will be fun activities to members relax and interact with peers in a healthy environment.

Student Senate Student Senators are student advocates who help govern issues dealing with the student body. They organize school events such as dances, assemblies, and more. They also collaborate with administration to discuss and revise school policies if needed.
