JIAJUN QI Hello, my name is Jiajun Qi. I am a graduate student at M.Arch with an Emphasis in Interior Architecture program at SAIC, graduating in May, 2022. I am originally from Hangzhou, China. I owned my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design degree at Arizona State University in 2019. My design focus has always been on creating an aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient environment by paying attention to details, and connecting knowledge from other disciplines such as art, psychology, philosophy, and math. Beauty of nature is my main source of inspiration.

Interior Renderings
Darkness is the of this project. A thermal bath is a private space where light is limited. Added structures explore the potential of one volume inside another volume, and the coldness from the concrete floor, wall, and ceiling. Visitors feel secured to be surrounded by the water pond and concrete material. They have the freedom of staying at the current location or keep exploring the darkness.

Entrance silo section
In my initial sketch, the cone has its larger side on top to become the skylight. Turning the cone upside down due to a flash of inspiration was the magic moment. A smaller side up is more reasonable by limiting the amount of light coming in and allowing more space at the lower levels of the silos for people to walk through.
