Jinhua Temple mapping and drawing was the project in which I participated when I was an intern in SCUT Architecture Heritage Protection Studio. This temple consists with two halls and a patio. The patio is surrounded by gable walls which is decorated by delicate brick sculpture. Within the temple, it is consecrated Grandma Jinhua and on the two sides are nine wet nurses and playing children, which are regarded as blessing god.

Time :05/2014 Critic: Laurie Olin/ Tony Atkin Location: Crownpoint, New Mexico Cooperation/ Landscape and architecture design This studio is about water, energy, human settlement, and culture through time in the arid lands around the Four Corners region of the Southwest US. We propose to arrange our residences on the edge of a cliff because we believe that it can protect the house against the attack of severe flood and meanwhile residents can collect water in the lower area for agriculture irrigation. Also the houses are semi-underground which can provide cooler interior air in summer and trap heat in winter.

Depaysement Surrealism Museum Time :11/2013 Critic: Ferda Kolatan Location: Seoul, South Korea Cooperation/Architecture design "Depaysement" means we can feel unexpected, unusual and exotic feeling by changing in scenery. By juxtaposing two heterogeneous objects we create a new environment which makes people feel unexpected. To design surrealism museum, we researched specific fruits or vegetables to process spatial composition. We made experiments by combining , inverting, rotating them in a linear or nonlinear way. It inspires us the space and quality of our museum and we try to transform these characters into our design.
Site Surrealism
Our architectural keyword is "Depaysement", which means that we can feel unexpected, unusual and exotic feeling by changing in scenery. A technique that a surrealist, Rene Magritte, uses is to juxtapose two heterogeneous objects. By doing so, it creates new environment and makes people feel shock and strange. Nodeul Island used to be a sand island, thus we want to keep its original appearance. The connection between architecture and site has a subtle variation, the surrounding concrete structure, while the rest area keeps its original shape.

Space Transformation
To design surrealism museum, we researched specific fruits or vegetables to process spatial composition. We made experiments by combining , inverting, rotating them as a linear or nonlinear way. It inspires us the space and quality of our museum and we try to transform these characters into our design.
Texture and Color The plaster models we made own various texture and color quality, such as small and deep hollows, round and bubble shapes, uneven patterned upheaval and so on. All these qualities contribute to a natural rock appearance.
Site and Architecture From sand to concrete then from concrete to architecture base, it gradually varies from the site to building, but in some way it keeps the architecture standing alone. In this way, the relation between architecture and site can keep a balance in between completely separate and over corroded.
Interior and Exterior Inside the building, there are two layers, the interior and exterior. Exterior surface gives an impression of hard and uneven texture while the interior gives an impression of warm color and glossy quality. The interior part is not following the exterior as an offset layer, rather it extends into the center of architecture as a public space, organizing the functions.
China National Stadium Reconstruction- Hotel Design Time :05/2013 Critic: Wenyi Jiang Location: Beijing, China Cooperation/Architecture and interior design China National Stadium is experiencing the transition period after 2008 Olympic Games. Our assignment is to reconstruct part of the stadium as a hotel. Considering severe PM 2.5 pollution in Beijing, we design a green barrier cover outside the stadium, through which we believe that it can filter the bad air and produce fresh air thus create a natural environment inside.
Background
In fact, PM2.5 pollution is serious in the city. People have to wear a mask when going outside. Also, this stadium is suffering the re-utilization after it finishes the games. The huge and cold structure give people a sense of estranged.
Concept
We are going to design a green filter to protect against the polluted air and create more intimate space inside the structure.

Construction Based on Structure System Time :06/2010 Critic: Gang Song Location: Guangzhou, China Cooperation/Construction This project attempts to combine parametric design with structure design. At the first place, we study the paper folding structure and its stability. Then we consider structure as control factor of forms which made the forms emerging in a rational way. This method reveals a new horizon of parametric design which develop the power of forms finding by controlling parameters.
Spacial Production City Design Time :11/2012 Critic: Gang Song/ Aidi Su Location: Dongguan, China Cooperation/City design Humen, Dongguan is famous for its prosperous clothing industry. Through our investigation we discover several disadvantages of its working efficiency. We study the most efficient working flow for all kinds of clothes and introduce new technology for tracing production location. In the meantime we suggest lifting the factory area upon the living area to create a more fluent working system.

Skyscraper Design Time :11/2011 Critic: Gang Song Location: Guangzhou, China Individual/Architecture design This studio is about using parametric tools to explore a satisfied forms basing on practical issues. The form of my skyscraper design is developed from a simple component. By using grasshopper I changed the rules of variation of component, resulting in different forms. In this assignment, form is not designed but emerged from the changing rules controlled by designer.

Lingnan Museum Design Time :06/2011 Critic: Daxing Yu Location: Guangzhou, China Individual/Architecture design At the first beginning of this project I try to design the flow of visiting rather than arrange the exhibition halls in a specific sequence. Thus I begin the design with two axises in different directions. Another concept comes from the special shape of the crystal. The form of museum will create an unique outline within the city which will bring a different character to the skyline.
Immersive KinematicsDrawing machine Time :04/2014 Critic: Simon Kim/ Mark Yim Cooperation/ Seminar project
Invisibility is the object that we cannot see with own eyes, but we do can see it in other ways.Time is invisible while timeline visualize it; Motion is invisible while camera records it; Logic is invisible while diagram express it. We use tools to make it visible. The transformation between visibility and invisibility has infinite possibilities. We are trying to using other language to represent the motion of our machine.
II. Design Development | iii. Motion range
Nude Descending a Staircase,1912 Marcel Duchamp
Fontana Mix,1958 John Cage
The Philips Pavilion,1958 Iannis Xenakis
The nude descending down stair is a continuous motion. We can see the moment it stop at one stair but we have no sense of the continuous serious motion. This drawing presents the movement of joints in the serious images. It tells the history of motion and makes the motion permanent.
This image shows a piece of music. We receive voice with frequency through the ears. But through this image, we receive rhythm of music by the curves with different curvature. It is a motion transformation. John cage visualize the music to deliver the beauty of rhythm.
Music is abstract and invisible. Iannis transformed music into architectural space. This music sculpture of pavilion records the rhythm of music. We are not listening to music but we are surrounded by music and experiencing it with our feeling to space.
Swarm Intelligence-Tiles design Time :10/2013 Critic: Roland Snooks Location: Philadelphia Cooperation/ parametric design In these two designs, we use processing to create the forms. In the tile design, we offer three rules to the points- alignment, separation and coherence while they are moving on a specific surface. We observe the behavior and change the parametric values of the three rules which can control the forms.
Game of Life- Shelter design Time :12/2013 Critic: Ezio Blasetti Location: Philadelphia Cooperation/ parametric design In the shelter design, we apply similar methodology. With parametric tools, we are not designing a specific form but we design the rules of emergence which will give us variety and possibility.
