RESEARCH Stroke is a medical condition in which poor blood flow to the brain results in cell death. A common cause of stroke is a blood clot that forms in a brain blood vessel. A stroke causes damage to the brain, and the symptoms depend on the area of the brain affected. The more extensive the area of the brain affected, the more functions that are likely to be lost.

SYSTEM CONCEPT

Rehabilitation System

C ot r ol l er

So ft wa re

Not just a rehabilitation.

Re+ consists of a grip training device and a series of puzzle games. The device

is designed to meet therapists' and patients' requirement. On the other hand, we used the theory of gamification to improve patients' motivation. We built a concept and demo with griping movement(the most important movement). Thus, we hope the system could keep promoting.

22

PROJECT01

Release tigh tness

Releasing muscle is the most important.

The griping training device is different from others which need to grip. Patients

should open the palm to trigger the switch when they want complete the mission in the games . Because stroke patients have seriously muscle tightness. Therefore, after user t e s t i n g a n d i n t e r v i e w, w e d e s i g n e d t h e d e v i c e t o l e t p a t i e n t s r e l e a s e t h e i r h a n d s . We believe that the system can give them a better experience in rehabilitation.

23

SYSTEM CONCEPT

To p r o m o t e r e l a t i o n s h i p m o r e i n t e r a c t i v e . We created not only personal games but also some multiplayer games. Family or nurse can join the game to interact with patien ts rather than nothing to do when waiting for patients. By researches, a good interaction could improve the motivation to finish the rehabilitation. Thus, we selected and designed some puzzle games in this system.

24

PROJECT01

So f t w a re

G ame de s i gn Pe r s o n al drawing game, mirror game... M u lt iplayer t ic t a c t o e, go mo ku. . .

Maintain the patient's self-esteem. Although the patient's limbs are physically handicapped, their thoughts are still clear. However, the current rehabilitation game is too simple for patients to play with. So we want patients to interact with others through puzzle games, such as five chess, to keep patients self-respecting and not to be treated as fools.

25

SCENARIO

According to on-site observation and interviews,

therapists sometimes perform group rehabilitation, allowing patients with similar conditions to recover t o g e t h e r. T h e r e f o r e , i n a d d i t i o n t o a c c e l e r a t i n g t h e efficiency of rehabilitation, let them inspire and progress with each other.

PROJECT03

Remove the generation gap — Create communication bridge.

49

BACKGROUND

50

PROJECT03

Why the elderly can only accept love passively? With the development of community software, the distance between people is getting closer. However, because of the generational gap, there are still some elders who cannot care about their children in the distance. Because the time on both sides is not righ t or the elderly refuse to use technology products, the two sides of the living habits are not the same. As a result, it cause bad life experiences and parent-child relationships. Therefore, we try to design an interactive device to build a communication bridge for the long-distance parent-child relationship.

PROJECT03

To had a chance to explore aging exper ience, we attend a workshop which invite several elders to be interview for this project. In order to realize their experience and discover what made them bad mood in the life, we make the outline in advance and use semi-structured interview. On the other hand, we reflected on those elderly people whose lives are relatively bad, after we interviewed who with better living conditions.
