User Research I Expert Interview

What we learn from the research?

We interviewed 2 professional psychologists who are majored in Eating Disorder. We mainly asked them whether there are some ways that can affect BN patients’ behaviors and thus help them.

“CBT is the most effective.” The therapist will help the patient establish healthy eating rules and supervise the patient's implementation. Also helps patients identify thoughts and behaviors that lead to BN. Dr.Hu from Shanghai Mental Health Center

Function Introduction Users can communicate and share on social platforms, which can help users gain understanding and encouragement and enhance their sense of companionship.

According to the user's symptoms and various body indexes, help each user scientifically arrange exclusive recipes and understand the nutritional content and calories of various foods in the recipes.

Users can share diet monitoring reports with their therapist or family members to keep them informed.

Users can select pre-matched nutritious meals in the mall, saving time and energy in customizing recipes.

The APP is connected to the spoon through WIFI to continuously monitor the user's eating behavior. Calculate the user's eating time, average eating speed and food weight, and generate a monitoring data report after the user finishes their meal

While monitoring, the app will play white noise to soothe the user’s eating mood.

If the user eats too fast, or the weight of food on the spoon exceeds the set value, a vibration reminder will be triggered to prompt the user to slow down their eating speed.

their feedback and suggestions.

It will be great if this function could be made I finally have a chance to get rid of the tedious repetitive work To a certain extent, this system tool can really help me

Limitation

improve my work efficiency

1. The robot needs to be able to intelligently guide the merchants to use it 2. The current functions of the robot are relatively limited. This system tool can also benefit merchants

3. The company's data system has a low degree of digitalization and intelligence, and the feasibility of the robot's functions is limited

I need a more convenient way to collect price certificate from merchants It takes time to guide merchants on how to use this function If the function of this tool can be expanded to help me modify product data, I will be more satisfied

Future plan 1. The robot adds the function of intelligent tutorials, so that merchants can understand the usage of different steps. 2. Combined with the feasibility guidance given by technical staff, further expand the role of robots in the in-sales and after-sales process. 3. Make a new prototype, conduct the second round of user testing and feasibility discussions

Design Iteration User Test Goals

What we learn?

Exploring the experience pain points and improvement opportunities in the group consultation process in VR

1. VR has accessibility issues Dizziness problem

Samples

Vision varies from person to person

We invited 8 social worker representatives to experience our demo and give feed-

The threshold for equipment learning and operation is high

2. Lack of ease of learning and usability

Preparation

Lack of interactive guidance for beginners

1- Design the UI interface and 3d scene in Unity

Scene jumps are incoherent

2- Connect Oculus and unity

The microphone switch is inconvenient

3- Load the core function interface and scene, observe and record the pain points and cool points in

Scene guidance is not clear

user operations

3. The needs of users are not met

4-Record and categorize insights

Users have the need to hide their real identity, such as hiding their real voice or name The visual effect of UI\scene design needs to be improved

Tasks 1- Log in 2- Enter and exit meditation mode

Limitation

3- Trigger and complete a group consultation

1. The number and types of test users are insufficient, resulting in the test results not being universal 2. The lack of UI and scene design makes it difficult to obtain an overall product experience evaluation,

Feedback

and the effect of improving emotional resilience cannot be measured and compared The scene is too big and the characters move very slowly...

3. The product fails to make adaptive adjustments for people who cannot adapt to VR

I forgot to turn on the microphone... Hard to find menu Why is there no novice guide? i don't know how to do it It's very funny, the scene is real

Future Work 1. Continue to optimize UI and scene design in unity, and connect different scenes in series

Can you change my voice?

2. Add novice guidance and consider accessibility issues 3. Add a button to turn on and off the microphone in the app, and supplement the voice changing function

I wonder what it's like to communicate with other people online...

4. Invite more test users to join the test 5. Invite experts to evaluate the application and measure the results to further iterate

Designed for Sharing Happiness

// After leaving our parents for work or study reasons, the

zoom in

distance makes us gradually reduce the communication with our parents, and even rarely share our happiness with them.

Team: Jiaqi Guo My job:Survey, Interviews, Concept Design, Drawing Key Words: Panorama, Long distance communication, Emotional interaction Tools: Adobe illustrator, Adobe XD, Leap Motion

Scenario Analysis

User research

I made a step-by-step segmentation of different content scenarios, classified their pain points,

I conducted one-on-one interviews with eight users to learn about their problems and

and looked for design opportunities.

needs when communicating with their parents at a distance.

(3 men and 5 women, aged 21-56)

How might we design a more interactive and fun way to communicate at a distance, so that it can arouse young people's desire to share happiness and enhance the remote emotional communication between young people and parents?

about ① Ordinary video has insufficient stereo, and it is easy to lack details. ② Describing the itinerary in words is very tedious and quickly loses patience.

frustrations

① Lack of interesting multidimensional sharing method

③ The itinerary cannot be dynamically presented, and parents cannot

understand it well.

④ Unable to share the temperature and smells felt during the journey, parental

immersion is limited.

② Parents can't deeply understand the fun of the journey

Users feedback that the range of recognition input of Leap motion is limited, and the activity space is small during manipulation. There will be a need for remote control methods that support longer distances.

3 Enjoy together

The design plan lacks the discussion of taste interaction. In the future, matching scent devices will be added, which can match the screen to emit different smells and enhance the sense of immersion.

Users need to raise their hands to control the screen for a long time, which is prone to fatigue, and the function of voice control screen conversion will be added later.
