The house is at 14th floor in the block of flats. Given the scarsity of space, the customer wants to distribute rationally yet keeping the fluidity of space. In order to get the maximum free space, I start from selecting suitable furniture for each environment, paying great attention to the choice of material. That’s why the walls are kept white without decoration, while all furniture are characterized by clarity and simplicity. Additionally, the customer express his preference towards japanese house style, for this reason the pavement is in wood.

The design of the exhibition space responded to the need to improve the recognition of the brand. We did a market analysis of companies manufacturers of office furnishings. By comparison with some large companies, we believe that Mascagni has some shortcomings in communication: first of all few ranges lack an identity, no flagship product, absent a characteristic style. To overcome these problems, we decided to design an exhibition space in which you perceive immediately the new company identity, expressed through the new items featuring the resin and transparency. This is reflected in the choice of materials used to build the pavilion: the floor is a resin panels, access steps are made with tempered laminated glass. On the side walls is highlighted text that explains the core values and mission. The lighting effect created with lamps recessed into the walls make the space a scene of great visual impact. 1

The Dan restaurant has a rectangular surface with the entrance located in the far corner from the south and an open terrace on the side of the west. The atmosphere that I want to create is a mystery and wilderness. To achieve these briefs, in the entrance hallway I wanted to leave the vertical walls in concrete, on which are installed lighting systems with cool tonality. The changing room is pink, which is in contrast with the color of the hallway entrance. the hall restoration is characterized by the presence of a VIP area in the central part, elevated by three steps. The perimeter walls of the hall is decorated with black leather combined with green lights. The lights in the cool shade play an important role in the interior of the restaurant. 1

WORKSHOP: RELOAD MY PHARMACY 2011/2012

The workshop dealt with italian pharmacy. Our task was to improve the selling of cosmetic products as well as other products that are not prescriptions. It is said that the major part of customers, once enterd inside the pharmacy, tend to go away immediately after having purchased the need. We are asked to change this phenomenon, increase customer’s desire to spend more time wandering inside the pharmacy. To resolve the problem, we have first underlined the present problem such as insufficient comunication of medicine, lack of space for customers and the color of interior lights. On the basis of these problems, we try to improve the situation through colors and logos. Since the major part of customers in the etrusca pharmacy is chinese, we decided to distinguish different ranges of medicine through different colors, to strengthen the comunication, we designed hanging lamp with corresponding logo and language above some important unit. To enhance the quality of service, we added three assistant boxes. Finally, to increase the selling of cosmetic products, we transform the piles in illuminating totem, around the piles we put cylinder which serve as window display to place promotion products.

WALTER DE MARIA 2010/2011

1. particular view from one side of the project. 2. front view 3. isometric view.

The idea of the project is derived from the study of personality of the artist and his works. The project is presented as a cube and inaccessible indecipherable, had deliberately tried to invoke the spirit of the Land Art, and admirer of the infinite force of Nature. The elements used are the same used by the artist for most of his works: marble, brass, earth, order geometric. From a certain angle of vision the viewer will discover the similarities between this project and field lighting artist.

SPACE DESIGN: HORIZON PASSAGE 2011/2012

34

1.2.3. rendering of the interior of the tunnel with special ‘ visual effect in the different times of the day.

The space design is the control of urban space in relation to the context and with man, it seeks to provoke new interpretations of the context giving rise to new interactive behaviors between the user and the designed space. In our case, the choice of the context is newcastle Draw Dock in London, a small harbor descending overlooking the River Thames. On the occasion of the Olympic games to be held in this city, we were required to design spaces in the non-places of passage that alter the identity of the place and that causes new interactive behaviors. The Horizon Passage, a 50metri big long tunnel that lies down on the ground covered in mud adjacent to the river, is a space that visually and perceptually deceives viewers. The long path is marked by “porches” through which rays of light are filterd, the visual effect is a endless succession of frames, at the end of the corridor is placed a mirror reflecting the sky, under the mirror you see the River Thames, the idea is always to create surreal visions. the concept of the project starts from a ‘ intense analysis on today’s youth, in particular on their tendencies of anti-social behavior in view of the impossibility of reaching certain social stereotypes.

7. rendering of the project in context: Newcastle Draw Dock.

4. the sketch shows the relationship between the space and the context: in the rainy days, the roof converges inclining water to the midpoint of the path, creating a veil of water. 5. in the days of full sunlight, the lights pass through the voids leaving traces of light along the route. 4

6. the reflecting mirror placed at the end of the trail captures the view of the sky when combined with that of the river Thames.

The installation occupies an area of about 10 x 50 mt, the structure is made with IPE joined to each other through the bolts, the floor is supported by corrugated sheets welded to the profiles and is lined with corten sheet. The coating of vertical structures in the copper sheet is anchored to the structure above the substructure plywood. The reflex mirror is stainless steel anchored to the support profiles Alucobond attached to the side. The roof is covered with thin sheets of polycarbonate compact fixed with silicone rubber.

13.14.15. rendering dell’tunnel with lighting effects.

14 To create the same visual impact at night, we tried to enlist the LED strips, they are conceived within the plates. The light that comes out accentuates the profile of the structure.
