he idea behind Tarani's Low Calorie Kitchen (TLC) is to make healthy eating easy, affordable and convenient for everyone. I am reasonably fit, exercise regularly and watch what I eat. However, my job requires me to eat out a lot and try out new places so I thought giving TLC a go for a few days would do my body good. Tarani and the nutritionist carefully drafted a weight management plan for three days with two planned meals each day. Here is my experience:

TLC Kitchen’s Vinegar Braised Chicken

Day 1: Breakfast: Chia smoothie and two boiled eggs. Lunch: I tossed the Ye Olde Chicken Stroganoff, wild mushroom, fresh thyme parsley pilaf into the microwave for a few minutes and voila — my meal was ready. This meal was quite a surprise. The stroganoff was perfectly seasoned and appropriately portioned. Dinner: TLC chicken tikka platter (chicken tikka, chicken malai tikka, chicken kali mirch), smoked gobhi and smoked tomato salsa. The kebabs were cooked just right. I lapped up the kebabs with the smoked tomato salsa, which, by the way was delicious. Day 2: Breakfast: An egg white omelette stuffed with soft cheese, rocket and parma ham. Lunch: Fish Moilly, curry leaves and tempered brown life pilaf.

This seemed like a pretty unusual dish for lunch, and I have to admit I was skeptical at first. A few forkfuls into it and I was pleasantly surprised with how light it was. Dinner: Sundried tomato pesto, olives & Feta stuffed chicken breast with veg parmigiana This dish was well thought of with all the elements that make a perfectly satisfying meal. The sundried tomatoes offset the saltiness of the feta stuffed chicken, and the veg parmigiana was delightful. Day 3: Breakfast: A bowl of amranth muesli and a platter of papaya and strawberries Lunch : Thai Red Chicken Curry, baby aubergines, peppers, mushroom, lemongrass infused brown rice. The Thai red chicken curry was traditionally made with lemongrass, kaffir lime, galangal and vegetables. The aromatic combination of the brown rice and chicken curry was a meal by itself, and I was pretty satisfied with the meal. Dinner: Fish Munire (Balsamic glaze), cauliflower Mornay with chargrilled cherry tomatoes This was my favourite meal by far. The fish in balsamic glaze had subtle notes of acidity and was full of flavour. The cauliflower mornay and the cherry tomatoes were the perfect accompaniments, and together they created a wholesome, balanced, delicious dish. The meals were proportioned and I didn't have to worry too much about portion sizes and calories. The food was lightly seasoned and cooked to perfection but the meals lacked some spice. I didn't end up losing any weight after this but it sure as hell didn't let me put on any. I didn't feel overstuffed or sick and actually enjoyed feeling light after these carefully planned meals. I recommend TLC kitchen to anyone who wants to lose a few pounds, feel lighter and healthier. Their attention to detail is definitely noteworthy and it's an incredible feeling to have someone look after your meals- leaving you very little to worry about.
