BEAUTIFUL SPACE

PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK STUDENT VERSION

Through our observation we deducted that this neighborhood had few safety rules, not to mention there were a lot of roads that had sewers on the middle of the street which caused a hazard while driving and is not very pleasing to look at. Another safety issue is the lack of side walk for civilians to cross to.as shown in the map there are too many trees in the area which makes the area beautiful . However there are so many spaces are empty so, they can take advantage and build some interesting buildings.

TENTLIKE

The idea here is to have a sustainable contemporary tent like roof for day to day usage. The space provided could be used as meeting are or a picnic area where people would actually enjoy sitting under it.

FUTURISTIC VILLAGE

Spatial aspects :

The pattern of the streets does actually suits the place if it has entrances at the right places that will contribute to the connectivity, but the appearance of the space does not actually suits the neighborhood since it needs renovations. In the existing souq the private and the public relationship is not clear since the courtyard in this situation is much more of a semi public space where actually people meet, when inner courtyards are actually known for being much more of a semi private space. The spaces are also hardly connected with the surrounding buildings. In addition, the routes in this space does not actually support different kinds of moving mods such as cycling and so on and that can be added in future designs. Also the circulation of the routes is a little confusing especially for the visitors and the routes are actually not arranged to consider the density factory or the busy periods since the routes are way too narrow. Socio-cultural aspects: Al helat spaces does support the activities of interaction buyers and sellers but other than that there is hardly any Interaction between different people, also that area does not actually accommodate other social activities other than trade. Moreover, the space is hardly accessible for the people who don’t have cars since there is no bus stop nearby around the souq. There is a bus stop to in the same area but its a long walk to get to the souq and its really preferred if the bus stop was near the souq since its considered a tourist attraction. Once again, the spaces in the souq are hardly considering dimensions of personal space and privacy since the routes are pretty narrow and give a feeling of discomfort, also the space lack security personnel or security cameras which contributes to the feeling of discomfort. However, the light level in that space during the day is decent even though the usage of artificial light is still there.

23

- CIRCULATION : A lot of entrances to the souq which may be confusing for the tourists. - VENTILATION : No open areas except for the inner courtyard which contributes to no fresh air going through the souq. - DAYLIGHTING : o day light entering through the routes of the souq which contributes to the usage of artificial light even in the day time.
