Painting Architecture Year 3(Unit 1) _ Hikaru Nissanke(Director), Jon Lopez(Director) of OMMX
Through its listing, the Brunswick centre has been condemned to a static existence. The project breathes new community life into underutilised spaces that are expensive to maintain. An alternative planning process through painting resurrects the ideals of the building and involves the community in its incremental evolution.
"I was interested in the ownership. And I looked at the party walls and party floors which are shared structures to see where their ownership lines are."
"And just by walking around, I started to look at how the responsibility of different ownerships manifests upon the building." 4
"There are a lot of under-utilsed spaces across the brunswick centre that are very expansive to maintain such as this kind of circulation on the right. And there is huge burden on the council to look after, and yet they have no use."

"In that vein, community involvement becomes a crucial part of the process. Instead of creating models and drawings, I can bring the community directly to the site and do the 1:1 scale painting as a part of the consultation. This can be ongoing set of workshop. The act of painting is a discursive tool at 1:1." 8
Phasing
"This is how the design is amended. The guy is improving the access by cutting the party wall."
"This is the top row of the existing state."
"And whilst the scenarios are happening, the consultation amongst the residents is also made for disabled people. She is telling on the difficulties she has. And an architect is listening to think about how to modify this space while the roof construction is happening below."

Community Engagement
"I designed a senario what could happen on the designated spaces. This is the brunswick as it is." "And a new consultation is happening to link with a new void underneath the ground floor. And they started to rethink of this space by painting."
12
"The void started to be constructed, and the residents are planting the area by peeling the floor. And community group members are discussing the new enclosure on the back." "And even after this space is fully enclosed, there will be further consultation will be made with the community groups. The basement to the upper terrace are connected and people started to use the space according to their needs."

"Work started to happen and this is the moment when the painting and construction are coexisting on the left. There will be no finished works as what I designed was a process, not a building. It just keeps growing with the pink paint."

"This is how the new building exterior might look from the Brunswick Square with all the paintings and ongoing construction works. You will be able to see on the plan how the scenario would alter the Brunswick Centre."

Business-ing Net Year 2(Unit 18) _ Viviana Muscettola(Director), Melodie Leung(Associate Director) of Zaha Hadid
"By redefining the function of convention centre and retooling the spatial character of each program, I designed a mixed-use highrise tower. This project is re-examining the convention center in economic, political, and cultural values from a future perspective."
21
Domestic & Foreign Demands
"Convention Centre where can bring the needs from SME(Small and medium-sized enterprises) provides a platform which can formulate the ideas of Venture Businesses to expand their boundary. " 22

"Form follows site - The overall geometry of the structure has been generated by respecting existing contexts, listed buildings, local monuments, axis, and program hierarchy. For having large convention space, I chose to support the tower with an exoskeleton. So I could be more flexible in terms of locating cores." 27

Hamang-dong Library Library + Parking Bridge _ June Architects(Summer Internship)
"It was a competition project which I was actively participating during my summer internship in 2020. Mixing a public library and parking area within a very restricted space was a hugh challenge. It was a moment that I started to think about architecture how could I provide a vision even without harming the practicality."

"The site was originally being in used as a parking area. With respecting both Korean architecture law and local restrictions, we found a way how to combine those two very different programs without distracting each other."

Conference Area
The atmosphere is naturally separated by arranging a bookshelf between the space for quietly concentrating on reading and the space for reading books in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. Lecture rooms around the learning space are used for group discussions and presentations by users during free time.
The conference area of Hamang-dong Library is composed of a flat floor and a wide and high ceiling so that it can be used for daily study, reading, and sports activities. The adjacent yard can be used for events, and it is advantageous to block noise and the environment as it is separated. 37

"Making physical models is a huge part of architecture process. This cafe model was used in client meetings during the summer internship. I got to learn how sophisticatedly the architecture model should be made as it will be manifesting to the clients."
