COURSE CONTENT Students can specialise in a series of artisitc forms such as painting, sculpture or mixed media with supporting studies in the history of art. We offer an intensive experiance with individual support.

COURSE CONTENT This qualification has been developed in collaboration with the modern design industry to ensure it fulfills current workplace requirements. It offers a clear route to employment and degree courses.

ENTRY You should be 18 years and above and have successfully completed either a BTEC Foundation Diploma, an access course, a National Diploma in Fine Art or the Equivalent Qualification. THE FUTURE Students who have studied this programme have progressed to postgraduate University places or entered the world of work in sectors including art therapy, advertising, arts management community arts and teaching. Nigel Hathaway HND Graphic Design Year One

Nigel had first joined the access course in Graphic design at Solihull College, embracing his goal to achieve and become a Graphic Designer, Nigel 28 has very big ambitions in Graphic Design and pleased with the help and support from the course he decided to stay on and study towards a HND Course in Graphic Design. Here is what he had to say:

After studying the Access course in Graphic Design, I feel that the level of expertise and help was literally fantastic. Tutorials on the course are really helpful with projects and achievements and they provide useful information to become stronger for the industry Graphics has transformed me to be creative, to learn new techniques and to give me the education to become a Graphics professional . Nigel wants to go into the industry after the course, it will provide him with the experience he needs to explore advertising and printing industries across the United Kingdom. He plans to start off as a junior designer then work his way up and hopefully retain his own business.

The programme will enable you to develop high level skills in the management, analysis and presentation of information important to the workplace, an applied understanding of communication technologies, interpersonal and intercultural communication and the ability to relate theory to practice through regular work based learning activities. Year 1 modules include: • • • • • •

Managing your learning Professional development planning Professional presentations using ICT Understanding the communication process Effective marketing communications Building working relationships and developing winning teams

ENTRY Applicants over 21 must have appropriate work experience, Applicants under 21 will need to have four passes at GCSE including English and Maths and either one A Level or an equivalent qualification. Applicants with non standard entry requirements may be considered on the basis of experience in the workplace. Applicants will need to be in appropriate employment and their employer must provide a letter for support.

THE FUTURE This degree is aimed to those in a range of administrative roles, personal assistants, communication officers, programme administrators, project officers, event and conference organizers, internal communications specialists and publicity material developers. It will also appeal to those in advertising and sales, marketing and public relations, as well as to those with counselling, pastoral and mentoring roles.
