CLIPPER RACE BIO JAMES L. FELDKAMP Commander James L. Feldkamp, USN Ret., is an adjunct professor, and has taught counterterrorism at George Washington University, George Mason University, Georgetown University and National American University on-line. He has been a US Naval Flight Officer, FBI Special Agent and a candidate for the U.S. Congress. As a Naval officer Feldkamp flew in EA-6B – the U.S. Navy’s carrier-based electronic attack aircraft off the USS Midway CV-41, in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991. Affiliating with the U.S. Naval Reserves Feldkamp became a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at Norfolk, Virginia, where he was a founding member of the Joint Counter Terrorism Task Force and one of three pilots tasked to do aerial surveillance. In 2004 he resigned from the FBI to become the candidate for Oregon’s District 4 Congressional seat. In 2007 Feldkamp was recalled to active duty to establish the international outreach branch of a new office specifically created for the coordination of all domestic and international information-sharing among U.S. federal government agencies, foreign governments, and the international maritime shipping industry to increase maritime security and maritime domain awareness. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Feldkamp now instructs courses on terrorism/counterterrorism. He has authored/edited a university textbook through Cognella Academic Publishing on the "Theory and Politics of Terrorism." On his spare time Feldkamp, works with the scientific community as a research diver on underwater shipwrecks and a sommelier at a local vineyard in Virginia
