PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am an architectural graduate with experience working in residential apartments, commercial and mixed use projects. I am also involved in a range of project stages which includes DA, planning proposal, tendering and CC projects. I have compiled this portfolio to feature several projects that I have worked on. In 2021 I have completed my Master Degree in Architecture at the University of Sydney. While undertaking my architectural studies as well as working as an Architectural student, I have greatfully gained essential skills and work experiences. As a result of both work and studies, I am a confident user of Revit with 4 years experience that enables me to model in 3D, drafting and documenting projects together with the knowledge of council

controls. Proficient in Adobe Suite, I also have experience in developing photomontages and CGIs for DA, marketing as well as for view analysis. I have worked and collaborated as part of a project team under the supervision of my team leader to deliver tasks efficiently to meet deadlines. Not only that, having a team leader that also serves as my mentor has merit not only my work experience, but also my willingness to learn throughout different projects. I have prepared my resume to provide you with an overview of my experience and training. Please contact me at your earliest convenience if you require any further information regarding my suitability. Yours sincerely, Jimmy Ng

With DA approved in early 2021, this project has been re-engaged by the client under design and construct with an awarded bulder. After graduation, this project is the highlight in my career as I am hugely involved in every aspect of this project - initial meeting with builder all the way to construction commencement. This project was quoted as “At the cross road” as we were caught with the implementation of the new design and building practitioner act. Which sets the goal standard for architectural specification, documentation standard and compliances.

Mixed Used Project Team 13 Months full time Revit / Enscape / Bluebeam 2021 Construction Documentation Squillace Architects

My key roles in this project are • CC documentation with regulated design • Services coordination • Responsible to achieve compliances BCA and AS • Research in specs and schedule for products specification • Lightly involved in value management analysis as builder wants to reduce cost • Responsible to respond site RFI if it involves documentation/ descrepancies • Reviewing shop drawings and giving comments prior for team leader’s approval • Involved in site meetings and inspections • Reporting to Associate Architect

The vision for the site is to aid the transformation of Market Street and the Marimbula CBD into a vibrant, viable and successful commercial centre via a high quality mixed use development with multiply building forms, bustling boutique ground floor retail tenancies and high amenity residential apartment above.

Residential and retail Project Team CAD / RENDERS Revit / Enscape / Sketchup (Concept) 2020 Commercial Land Strategy Submission Squillace Architects

Given the concept proposal looks to amalgamate two commercial sites located along Market Street, Merimbula, afford an apportunity to design a high quality development which responds to the local context. Therefore my role was to develop realistic CGIs to reflect the vision of the project.

MERIMBULA VIEW LOOKING NORTH The site presents a unique opportunity to provide a gateway to the Merimbula CBD and reflect the future desired character of the retail strip whilst maintaing a sensitivity to the existing streetscape. Based on the team analysis, we feel a nuanced and articulated building spanning up to 5 storeys with substantial setback to the top storey is an appropriate response in alignment with the aspirations for the town centre. The aim of this project is to propose a third storey addition onto an existing 2 storey dwelling. GIven that the building was built in the early 19th century, effort is needed to understand the

exsting fabric of the building for a successful outcome. Nevertheless, the client is also looking for a outdoor deck and addition bedrooms to accomodate a new family.

PROPOSED SECTION SURRY HILLS Given the site is not heritage listed however it is located in a heritage conservation area, the proposal must not effect the external appearance of the existing building to maintain the heritage character of the site.

Earmarked for redevelopment, the population of Waterloo Housing Estate (WHE) is expected to triple by 2036. Additionally, an increase in young individuals and a decrease in the elderly is expected to result in a more diverse age structure. However, paralyzed by years of isolation by an architecture that has impeded rather than fostered a sense of

community, its residents are not ready, or equipped to adapt to such change. Physically, and mentally detached from the aspirations of the city, the WHE has existed in a state of constant conflict for many years.

The process of revitalization can be categorized into two primary strategies.

WATERLOO HOUSING ESTATE CGI By creating informal ownership of public spaces, the project strives to cultivate a sense of belonging and place to existing and future residents. Additionally, this will improve on current security concerns through the natural increase in surveillance. As part of the post-adversity learning experience, the public acts an important role PUBLIC REALM for the school for interactions

Instead of traditional leaning style, a new artistic focused syllabus are promoted in the HYBRIDIZED ART OUTCOME school.

Exposition is the second stage of the new pedagogy, an adversity. During the EXPOSITION weekends, exhibiton takes place in school.

AS PART OF THE POST-ADVERSITY LEARNING EXPERIENCE, PUBLIC ACTS AN IMPORTANT ROLE OF THE SCHOOL. STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO CURATE THEIR OWN EXHITBITION FREQUENTLY, ALL ARTWORKS WILL BE EXPOSE TO THE PUBLIC WHICH ENCOURAGE STUDENT TO INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC.THEREFORE, STUDENT WILL LEARN NOT JUST ACADEMIC KNOWLEGDE BUT ALSO SOFT-SKILL FOR THE FUTURE CAREER SUCH AS COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION AND EXPOSITION.

INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL LEANING STYLE, A NEW ARTISTIC FOCUSED SYLLABUS ARE PROMOTED IN THE SCHOOL. HYBRIDIZE LEANING INCLUDES STEM SUBJECTS (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS) TO BE THE CORE OF LEARNING WITH AN ARTISTIC OUTCOME.

EXPOSITION IS THE SECOND STAGE OF THE NEW PEDAGOGY, AN ADVERSITY. IN THE WEEKEND, THE SCHOOL WILL BE TRANSFORMED TO A EXHITBITION HALL WHILE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ARTWORK, SUCH AS VISUAL ART, PERFORMING ART AND MUSIC, DISSOLVES THE BUILDING IN DIFFERENT FORMS.

THIS MODE OF LEARNING DEMANDS A FLEXIBLE SPACE TO TRANSFORM BETWEEN NORMAL MODE (STEM) AND HYBRIZED MODEL (STEM = ART).

Post adversarial demands - mentally healing. Demand for nature is the most HEALING PROCESS important element in the healing process. POST ADVERSARIAL DEMANDS - MENTALLY HEALING. DEMAND FOR NATURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT FOR HEALING PROCESS. THUS, THE SCHOOL WILL PROVIDE HEALING SPACES WITH NATURAL ELEMENTS FOR STUDENT TO HEAL INDEPENDENTLY. IN THE HEALING SPACES, STUDENTS ARE ISOLATED BUT STILL CONNECTED TO NATURE, THESE SPACES ALLOW THEM TO DO VARIES ACTIVITIES WHICH INCLUDING ART, SUCH AS PAINTING, GRAFFITI, MUSIC, MEDITATION, ETC.

3

The structure of the building is exposed to reflect the pedagogy as educational and exposure.

HVAC services are distributed under the floor plate across the entire building

Circulations include lift core, fire stairs and the main exhibition stairs for the public.

GLOW Resource Reception

The reception is an impotant aspect of the project as it needs to attract families with a warm and welcoming feeling upon arrival.

58

GLOW Resource Library

The libary is a small addition to the retail units as it aims to be the students gathering area, waiting for their parents as well as break in between classes.
