01 China Town Pavilion During the initial design phase of this pavilion, I researched the activities in the Boston Chinatown and the needs of the target audience. As a Chinese international student, I felt that current Chinatown elements were more about foreigners’ perception towards China and did not consider the resonance with Chinese people. In the design, I abstracted two arches from the shape of the panda’s body, and then referred to Chinese traditional landscapes, such as rivers and mountains. The understanding of Chinese culture should not be limited to basic concepts, such as using red and bamboo, but should explore more about the deeper cultural heritage. 01

02 Boston China Town Library My goal for this design is to build a library for all. I created a library with a rich variety of functions on each floor, and offers spaces that can be used by people of different ages. There are common areas for all ages, as well as more private areas for each generations. The library is composed of a collection of shapes, rather than having the entire building and then dividing it into sections.

The circulation is also a characteristic part of the whole building. The larger block is divided into two levels, and the rooms on both sides are interspersed with each other. 02
Section Perspective Render Views The long glass columns in the middle are centered on an elevator and staircase, and exhibits hang around each floor, making the whole journey more interesting.

03 Thick Thin House In this project, I explored various ways to create more dimensional feeling and administrative levels, using different thickness of wall to divide private and public spaces. The space on the second floor, with the two rooms facing each other, is designed to increase the interactivity and communication opportunities for the residents. Also, using sizes of geometric shapes and windows adds fun to the design.

04 The Beehive Hotel The structure of the hotel inspired from a hive. Each modular structure is easy to move and easy to assemble. It is aimed to fulfill contemporary young people’s expectations and demands are highly increasing on social, personalization, and customization. When there are significant events such as music festivals, sakura festival, people with common interests can stay together. The connection areas between the common area and the private area can be changed according to the needs of various activities.

3D printing jewelry project *Project speak up for women’s right
06 Choke Her (3D printing project) We live in a time that aims to beautify the human form through the fusion of nuanced shapes and patterns. Coerced by our desire to change this narrative, we hoped to remind our audience of their fragility by binding them to the promise of their own morality. Inspired to craft a “Choke her” necklace, we became inspired to empower the emerging wave of feminism. We aimed to illuminate the horrors women have been subjected to by mutilating beauty standards for centuries.

The music score was torn up which is the leading cause of the whole incident. The crime scene was chosen in the equipment room, which allows the audience to see that it was part of the school. The equipment room is relatively dark, where many school violence occurred.
