MERCEDES ME HAUS

The ‘mercedes me’ store in HK

Hong Kong China 2017.11-present Area:420sqm Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong is going to relocate the existing ‘Mercedes me’ to a new location in immediate vicinity to the existing store. In this respect, a conceptual interior design and façade design, followed by a detailed design development is needed. VONSUNG is invited to quote on the requested works. I work with this project as the design assisstant mainly responsible for concept images searching, conceptual sketch, detailed drawing and building up 3D models.

CURRENT SITE The total space is distributed over two floors, connected vertically via an internal staircase. The store can be accessed via the main entrance along Queens Road at ground floor or via the back entrance at first floor.

OBJECTIVE

With the Mercedes me , Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong has been exploring new fields of brand experience and customer contact. ‘Mercedes me’ functions as urban lifestyle hub and new interpretation of the brand in the center of Hong Kong. The store incorporates a food and beve age concept, event space and lifestyle display combined with a singular automotive on display. It has been operating successfully and been well accepted over the last three years, therefore this story of success is supposed to be taken up at a new location.

All these questions, and this richdecoding process will not be activated in front of a building which has dierent qualities and eects, but here in Mercedes Haus, we think such a process will be a beautiful extra qualitygiven to the guests, making the experience stronger.

RESEARCH BACKGROUND

CONSUMER SOCIETY However, people have not yet recognize the waste in such alienated consuming activity. Henri Lefebvre believed it is bidirectional to understand society and daily life. What our daily life look like means what the society we are in. Such control make people restrained by items in daily life. People never stop buying new goods while keeping old stuff, resulting in goods hoarding. “Hoarding but disregarding is waste.” (Trentamann, 2016).Mass consumption society enable the rich to overbuy houses, which are then left unused. As a result, the housing price raises and many people cannot afford a house. This is a waste of land resource. Similarly, our mind is controlled by goods when many idle items occupy our life space. It is a waste to not only available space but also spirit space.

We can see living space as an amplified fridge and utilize its automatic reminding system in the space(A). Once people enter the space with some items, the image processing system will identify the useful life of the items automatically (Step 1)and people could check the result through agrumented reality application from mobile terminal(Step2). The useful time of item is visualized as the time process bar in application(B). It can check the progress bar in the application everyday to remind you about the remaining time as well as to use or replace the item on time.In every week it lists the report of the rate people use things at living space.

LIVING SPACE

100% waste =2800mm

1% waste=280mm

The more the item is wasted, the smaller the space becomes. The narrower space will limit activities of people and make them oppressed, but people can earn back the space through full utilization of other items (such as donation or other methods). This is a circulation to restrain people’s wasteful behavior. We shall let people aware that if they are rational in consumption and never hoard up items, they will not be controlled by materials and get back the comfort space.it will conďŹ scate the space occupied by the wasted item through lowering furred ceiling at a certain percentage in which the item is wasted.

LIVE FOR 6 MONTHS

THE MORE YOU WASTE, THE LESS SPACE YOU HAVE LIVE FOR 1 YEAR

REFLECTION

LIVE FOR 4 YEARS

THE FUTURE......

The material procession makes us fruitful life, it also, however, brings waste. This wasting problem cannot be solved in a short time because of the excessive consumption of consuming alienation. As long as consumption is used as a means to drive the economy, such alienation cannot be stopped completely. I discussed this problem from the perspective of space, and ďŹ nal in the form of space to disclosure is made waste, and how to manipulate the people. At the same time, it provides a lot of chances that the development of science and technology to explore living environment in alternative future. So I design the space system with the help of technology. It is experimental concept and the aim of it is to awaken people's sense of waste can't control this sense of consciousness, and it's not the solution to help people not to overspend anymore. It's just a way to make people reect on their behavior.

FLOWING SPACE

A lession in responsive environment design in SIVA

Shanghai China 2016 Area:300sqm Excellence Award in Asian Design Award 2016 This project is located in Shanghai Insititute of Visual Art. The Design apartment plans to build a digital spatial laboratory and focus on the visualization and interaction of spatial environment, such as architecture, interior and landscape scenes. I experienced the whole design process includes schematic design, constructive drawing and constructed moulde. The demand of spatial function changes is relatively changable in the digital spatial laboratory.Based on users behaviour happen dierently in such a limited space,I design the adaptable wall to meet the multiple needs and constructed in reality

The concept design of car parking roof

Shanghai China 2014 Area:movable The project is located in bicycle parking area in Shanghai insititute of Visual Art which behind Big-Eye library. My group aim is to use bionic way to redevelope the currently crowded shed which leakage of rain under the way of biot. The redevelopment also helps the shed better ďŹ t in well with the scenery. I experienced the schematic design and diagram analysis and moudel construction.

FISH ANALYSIS Since mucus is spread all over the surface of ďŹ sh scale, drag reduction as a result of synergy of ďŹ sh scale and mucus helps reduce resistance on moving surface. The structure of scale surface serves as a key factor to reduce resistance.this also helps reduce adhesion of mud in water.

WATER FLOW

For the study of scale morphology, single structure is used while an experiement-based study in terms of water and light is given to the change of camber at both wings, aiming to look for an appropriate form to piece them together.

Tensile membrane is a perfect material.the structure works very well in shielding wind and rain with additional self-adapting feature, more light comes in with both wings warping at a greater extent on a sunny day.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Starbucks on the high way

Jiaxing China 2014 area:134sqm Shanghai Hangzhou high-speed service area of Jiaxing was founded in 1999,located in the Shanghai Hangzhou high-speed 109K. There is a spare area near car park will planed to be Starbucks. My idea is both inside and outside you can order food serving as a quick service. The entire road is divided into two modes-order and pass-by.eliminating the concerns of traďŹƒc jam.

Huizhou architecture reformation

SIVA Shanghai China 2015 Area:1200 sqm The Huipai Building is located in the west of Shanghai insititute of Visual Art and the materials of this building is moved from Jiangxi. I worked with my teacher Yuehao Chen and 3 other students .I experienced the early design stage includes layout diagram design. This is one of concept design from mine. Now the big challenge to me is that how to combine the modernist life style with too man posts, holes of the interior area together.

ďŹ eld analysis

here are too many pillars inside ancient buildings.partition is employed to hide those pillars. 1.there is foot stall at base of pillars ,typically partition does not work 2.Horse-head wall elements are applied to interface of partition. 3.the joints between beams and pillars are quite chanllenging for partition.

1.indoor light is poor. 2.air ventilation 3.countyad:high wall blocks daylight during summer also ward heat wave of the wall 4.many windows and doors are available to deliver a link to the outdoor plants, borrowing views of plants. 5.rain water ows to the center.
