Constanta , Dohotaru In 2015 I graduated the Faculty of architecture and Urban Planning of the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania. For a year I worked as a junior architect in a spatial planning and sustainable architecture oriented studio in Malta 'studjurban'. I was involved in a variety of projects: Valletta research, small and big scale architecture interventions /residential, commercial/, graphic design, studio website. During the last years, I followed both architecture and design internships in cities like Barcelona, Timisoara, Montpellier and Valletta, always widening the horizon and interacting with new cultures and mediums. In 2014 I was among the founders of the community planning oriented NGO 'in the community'. Our urban research guided us in actually scanning the urban reality and investigating the factors that impact the way we experience the city as individuals, but also as communities. My final collaborative thesis 'Increasing the quality of urban life though participatory community- planning and decentralization' was concentrated on a residential community in the outskirts of Timisoara, planning and implementing a participatory process for revitalization a residual public space. At the moment I am looking forward to joining a dynamic office and do great things together in a creative atmosphere :)

BRIDGE The Bridge had to be made fully out of wood and to host facilities like: a restaurant, a closet and storage. The concept was to connect the two paths from the opposite sides of the Bega channel with a smooth accessible for all passage. Structurally everything was based on triangles as the triangle is the most resistant form. The rhythm of the wooden slats makes the restaurant, which is in the middle of the bridge, have more light but still keep it private and in shadow.

This is our 4th year school project. The site is situated in a residential area, built in the 1900s, nearby the center of Timisoara. The site had to host a mixed use intervention - a commercial ground floor with underground parking, offices and apartments integrated in a well deffined public/private space. We decided to place the offices next to the street, so that it can serve as a noise barrier and can face the north. The residential area was placed in the back. The concept was to create a sequence of squares with increasingly intimacy on the public/private spces- from the street to the back side of the site. The main square would be near the street and marked with a 35m multifunctional tower.

DESIGN
The site is situated in Timisoara, in the peripheral area. It hosted industry supplies in the past and now is a left out, forgotten and dangerous area. Our team came up with a vision and a strategy in order to revitalize, populate and make it attractive.
After some changes in public transport we would make the nearby park, an attractive one. Then will be configurated the pedestrian that will come from the city Centre, pass near the park and go to the Green Forest, right next to out site, outside the city area, in the north. The next step would be the conversion of one of the old hall of the site, into a multi-functional cultural Centre (Ch.Alexander, Pattern Language). The other parts will be divided into parts: near the streets - penetrations - will be offices and millennium stores, the collective 5 store buildings will be situated next to the lower traffic roads and the private houses will be in the middle, protected from the notice and high traffic. The pedestrian street Realizing the importance of memory of the place, made over the years, we decided to keep and emphasize it. The site, a witness to the industrial era, will host a lively pedestrian that will serve as gate and invitation to the Green Forest. Physically, the gate will consist of reinforced concrete bridge stock, found on the site. The pedestrian will be bordered by commercial and leisure services.

My diploma The submitted work is a collective diploma developed by four students in two stages: an interdisciplinary theoretical study and four participatory interventions.
After the thorough study at different scales, beginning with the city, leading to the detection of residentially wise different communities belonging to unused or purely used public spaces, though urban and social research, the project developed into a participatory bottom-up process concerning the needs of the four selected communities. The interventions took place in a historical neighborhood, Fabric, in Timisoara, Romania, favoring the decentralization and the growth of the quality of urban life.

FABRICam the Campului triangle FABRICam the Campului triangle was the starting point of the series of projects FABRICam. It took place in a residential area, at the Eastern limit of the both Fabric neighborhood and city. The site was an unused public space, surrounded by secondary roads and parking. The urban furniture built during the workshop was chosen and designed after 2 meetings with the community on site. The workshop took place during a weekend (April 24-26) and gathered on the triangle the community, our NGO, the collaborating NGOs, volunteers, representatives of the local authorities and friends, for a good cause. At the end of the workshop, the newborn place was celebrated with a small event with and for the community – a guitar concert, games with local children and a Ping-Pong championship. The public space was declared activated.
General objectives: -identifying and satisfying the community’s needs -rising the quality of urban life -rising awareness other the unused public spaces -calling for civic engagement -strengthening community belongingness and interactions -community empowerment -bottom-up approach -creating positive public spaces -giving an example to follow

The project proposes an urban planning brought to human scale with a large park area created for the local community. The new park is dedicated to the pedestrians and cyclists and the links between the new proposed functions of the site.
after
We propose the renaissance and activation of the local community by creating common public spaces - local market, community gardening, silent places, local city hall and playground. The relocation of the parking places is supposed to unite the green existing place. The street are paved in order to reduce the speed and the noise of cars. All the trees are kept and many new ones proposed to be planted.
The Playground
In Bucuvina, Romania, at a country inn, we were asked to build something for the kids. My team came up with a concept witch involved moldavian history. They asked us to buid one element and we chose the CUBE. I was the head architect and had to lead the project and site. It took us 7 days of fun and a lot of new things to learn.

The shelter
Near Petrosani, Romania, at a altitude of 2km above the sea level, we were asked to help buiding a shelter fot people visining to have a sleep-over. We used only local materials like stone, clay, wood. We stayed there for a week and again, gained a lot of experienc e. We had 30 degrees during the day and -1 at night, tzuika was our best friend! If it happens you to visit Romania, you shouldn’t miss that region, as it is full of history, it is told that Zamolxex lived there and could see the stars during the day though the roks!

TAKEAWAY (带走) Salzburg 05/08/2015 22:00 7' 11'' www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gy6wcN6bgg Salzburg Summer Academy - FELD72 - Public Space course I was looking for it in the city but it wasn’t there. Salzburgers are avoiding Altstadt with all its tourists’ places as they don’t own it anymore. This new fake city is a perfect baroque décor for this ephemeral presences. Only 5% of Chinese people have traveled so far. In 2014, 17.8% more visited the Salzburg region and 55% more the Mozart city. They spend 1.4 days in Austria, 1 hour here, spending on average 989.5EU/day. They come, take photos, they buy and go, leaving behind a different Salzburg, irreversibly changing the public space. The performance consisted in writing it ephemerally on the most visible place. Big cupboard letters (1, 8 x 1,2m) saying TAKEAWAY in both English and simplified Chinese are held at night, at 10pm on the southern terrace in Festung. The spot lights coming from the Dom project the shadow on the castle, making it visible from the downtown, making a statement for both local residents and tourists, rising a question at the same time. Whose is the city’s public space? http://www.summeracademy.at/blog/index.php/13-36-public-routines

‘My favorite house’ contest was an independently students organized contest in Timisoara, Romania. Our team worked on developing a website where people could upload a photo with their favorite house from their neighborhood and also vote for other ones. The contest was held in 2013, spring and ended during the annual city’s anniversary concerts event, in August, when the winners where announced. The project meant to increase the awareness of the citizens towards their city’s architecture and to incite the creative and critical thinking. We also made people take walk with their head up in the sky. Graphic design: Alex Iliescu
