I took 5-year Architecture program in Tianjin University, China. Two of my early internship experiences in “gmp Architekten”, Beijing and “ARQUITECTONICA”, Shanghai have provided me with ability to both integrating into the team work style and adapting to fast-paced multitasking work flow. I mostly participated in large scale public projects. During my three months’ internship in “gmp”, I dedicated myself to only one project: Hangzhou South Railway Station, which contains gross floor area of 108,000 yd2 and serves 4.5 million passengers per year. I helped with detail design and drawing of ceiling lighting system and spray system, modeling of passenger gathering hall and conceptual structure, design and modeling of roof structure, chimney and maintenance channel, checking both HVAC system and structural drawing. The four months’ internship in “ARQUITECTONICA”, Shanghai, allowed me to join in different projects with different groups. I first worked on the Qiantan Commercial Residential Complex, a large-scale public building in the schematic design phase. I concentrated on the draft drawing of building sections, hotel plan, and residential tower plan, etc. In addition, I also calculated the project briefs according to the owner’s requirements and company’s design intent. Another project I worked on was the Taipingqiao Shopping Mall, a collaborative project by “ARQUITECTONICA” Shanghai office and “KPF”. I delivered the Mall’s section and orientation drawings. I am professional in using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Vray and Adobe Suite to support my design and presentation, and familiar with Revit to help me study building structure, construction and ecological evaluation. These abilities helped me perform smoothly on the task that I was assigned.

However, both my professional practice experience and my own study has made me realize that the importance of landscape design in architectural projects, and how stronger systematic view and understanding of site can greatly push the design. That’s why I applied for Landscape Architecture to continue my exploration. In RISD, I absorbed plenty of critical and theoretical thoughts about landscape, architecture and space, that differed from my undergraduate study. More knowledge about ground construction, topography and geography provided me with better understanding of how Architecture is differed from Landscape Architecture and simply how building can be well grounded into a site. I was also able to have broader view of the problem. It has made me able to raise more reasonable and imaginative concept and solutions. My most recent internship was being three months’ landscape architect at More Gardens Fund, a non-profit company in New York. During my internship, I was focusing on the design of an eco-village located in Ellenville, a small town in upstate New York. I worked on the schematic design, drawing and modeling of the project. As the only landscape architect in the group, I also worked with people who were in different background, and we cooperatively accomplished the
