I

KNOW IT WHEN

I

SEE

IT

Seeing something. For me it is one of the most enjoyable parts of my life. I go traveling, I take photographs, and I read books to see the world from another perspective, fulfilling my curiosity. As a designer, I const antly see, learn and create things to hone my creative vision. With that vision, I solve problems and communicate in away that is purposeful and meaningful.

Now you see it.

Designing how to communicate this message is the responsibility of graphic design. It has the ability to inspire people and make a difference. This project is about the positive consequences of walking as a healthy mode of transportation, or as a purely recreational activity, spanning across many aspects of our lives. They can be expressed in terms of the health of the environment, as well as the health of individuals who are more physically active. In order to captivate the attention of people, graphic elements have geometric shapes which represent a map, stairs, and spots. The color palette consists of strong colors on a black background.

WHERE

ALL

THE

GONE?

Albert Einstein said if the honey bee disappears from the earth, man would have only four years of life left. Silence of the Bees is a book about the mysterious disappearance of honey bees from beehives all around the world. The book’s aim is a better understanding of ‘Colony Collapse Disorder ’ (CCD). The situation is dire and only stands to get worse and so, with that in mind, the book examines all scientific and environmental links to CCD. Just as much as bees have a role in ensuring the sur vival of humanity, we also have roles in ensuring their sur vival. This way, we can ensure that the symbiotic relationship we have with bees will endure for many more generations. There are many things we can do to achieve such a life sustaining purpose. _

CLEAN UP SPACE

DEBRIS

Imagine one day your cell phone doesn’t work, and you can’t use your credit card. Ever y aspect of our lives is more dependent on space than you think. More than 1,100 satellites play an unseen role in our daily lives. However, our comfortable life is threatened by space debris. Space debris is the collection of objects in orbit around Earth that were created by humans but no longer ser ve any useful purpose. As the orbits of these objects often overlap the trajectories of newer objects, debris is a potential collision risk to operational spacecraft. Unless we take action soon, if there are a number of other collisions, we could be in a situation 10 or 15 years from now where low Earth orbit is just too difficult to maneuver, which would have a dramatic impact on people’s daily lives. This conference provides all pieces of information required by spacecraft and launch system designers and operators to control the space debris environment with the aim of safe, sustainable space activities for future generations.

ZEN

THE

ZEN

AIRLINES

OF AIR

T R AV E L

Air travel involves a combination of many different types of stressful experiences, including delays, lost baggages, cramped airplanes, and doubts about airplane safety. I imagine such an airlines giving us piece of mind before, during and after the flight. This airline is for travelers seeking relaxed air travel with a zen atmosphere. Inspired by the words harmonized, Japanes, responsible, safe and secure, I named it Zen airlines. And, I created a new identity, application system and standards manual. _

: // Fly with harmony_ _ This project talks about the positive consequences of walking as a healthy mode of transportation, or as a purely recreational activity, span across many aspects of our lives. They can be expressed in terms of the health of the environment, as well as the health of individuals who are more physically active. A transportation system that is conducive to walking can reap many benefits in terms of reduced traffic congestion and improved quality of life. Economic rewards both to the individual and to society are also realized through reduced health care costs and reduced dependency on auto ownership.

GROW YOUR IN

OWN YOUR

FARMING

FOOD APARTMENT

The mission Apartment Farming is to inspire and empower people to start growing some of their own food in their apartment. This is the easy way to save money and eat organically forever. We may be limited by the amount of free space we have, but the project is about what’s possible, and about producing fresh organic food for yourself and your family, even from tight spaces. The project focuses on cutting down on “foodmiles,” processing, packaging, fertilizers and just about ever y other source of greenhouse gas emission in our food system. Growing your own foods will also open your eyes to what it takes to take care of, cultivate and grow food. That will bring you closer to it and allow you to appreciate it even more when you finally get to eat it. _

ENERGY FROM

THE

SUN

Under Armour is one of the greenest companies in the sports industr y. Their goal is to fuse products with green technology. To promote Under Armour by using another green technology, I created a product called SEB. They can extend their focus to solar energy beyond recycled raw materials. Solar energy band (SEB) has been designed to harness the sun’s energy, shortening the process of transforming it into electricity. Whether for emergency purposes or just for exercising, it charges easily in just a couple of hours, and it can be an affordable way to be green.

COMPTOIR

MODERNITY

PARIS

WITH TIMELESS

CHIC

Since its creation in 1995, Comptoir des Cotonniers has been designing collections that combine modernity with timeless styles. In Europe, as well as in Asia and in the United States, customers acclaim Comptoir des Cotonniers as the expression of the French elegance. Women are free to creat their own fashion and own style. Comptoir des Cotonniers collections enable them to suit their own taste and find just the right balance, combine a feminine item with something of a more masculine feel, or reinterpret a functional piece with a feminie twist. Redesigning an interesting brand and bringing it to a higher level is one of the most important parts of graphic design. I redesigned it to convey their strong philosophy with cosy, warm, intimate and luminous atmosphere of the Comptoir des Cotonniers. _

OCEAN FROM

POISON

The oceans are enormous but they are not infinite. Pollution in the ocean directly affects ocean organisms and indirectly affects human health and resources. Oil spills, plastic debris, and nuclear threat are all major sources of pollution in the ocean. These are not only polluting our oceans, but posing a serious threat to fish, seabirds, marine reptiles, and marine mammals. Under the sea, there are already many mutated creatures growing. This project is about designing three posters to promote the pantone color matching system as well as convey a strong message. To educate people about sea mutants, I created mutated ocean characters with a humorous approach. _

Feit electric light bulb contain lower amounts of mercur y, lead and other hazardous materials compared to other products. The features are 80% less energy that its incandescent counter part and 13 times longer life. Green packaging needs to maximize sustainable materials or construction, and clearly convey information. This packaging design uses only post-consumer recycled paper, promotes Feit electric light bulbs, and supplies the consumer with updated information through modern design. _ _

AMERICAN

American histor y began with waves of immigrants, bringing their own cultures and traditions to a vast new countr y. No other place in the world has such a diverse population. It is this diversity that makes America what it is and, at the same time, creates the challenges it faces. Today the trend is toward multiculturalism, not assimilation. The old “melting pot” metaphor is giving way to new metaphors such as “mosaic”, mixtures of various ingredients that keep their individual characteristics. American Society is transforming to a truly multicultural mosaic. _ _

MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION

Educational Equity and Excellence Multicultural equity derives from the notion that educational excellence is unattainable for any student when certain groups are denied a fair chance to receive the highest quality education possible and when some contributions are systematically excluded from the U.S. and human stories. It builds upon the idea that comparability instead of sameness is the key to providing equitable educational opportunities for ethnically different students. In order to determine what constitutes comparability of learning opportunities, educators must thoroughly understand how culture shapes learning styles, teaching behaviors, and educational decisions. By giving all students more choices about how they will learn, choices that are compatible with their cultural styles, none will be unduly advantaged or disadvantaged at the procedural levels of learning. These choices will lead to closer parallelism in opportunities to learn and more comparability in students’ achieving the maximum of their own intellectual capabilities.
