SUMMARY For the past 3 months we built platforms for social media including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in and we have seen an increasing growth in the number of organizations and individuals following the work that (UNAFRI) United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders does. As a result of this developed initiative we have also noticed an increased number of applicants for the post of Country Director redirecting from all our social media pages which was one the main key factors while we begun. This is clear evidence that social media platforms work and they are very effective and efficient when it comes to delivering information and content in and on time to the required target populations for any given cause. (UNAFRI) is now among the many UN bodies that have taken advantage of the social media space to utilize modern information resources based on current technology to their advantage.

GOAL The main goal is still to create on-line visibility and make use of the opportunities that lie in exploring social media as a modern day mode of communication. (UNAFRI) United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, like her sister organizations under the Institutes of the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (PNI) needed to start utilizing modern information resources based on current technology to her advantage. Social Media is quick, brief, strategic, instant but also very effective in terms of both visibility and accuracy.

NEW TASKS After a successful construction of the main social media platforms we have now been tasked to update the Institute’s website. While all the social media platforms continue to grow we need to make sure that the website is periodically updated and also its redesigned to suite the current programming languages that support the current speeds and new servers on the internet. WEBSITE We have started construction of a new frame for the new look keeping all content updated. We have also been tasked to do periodic updates on the website to include all events as they happen this is to create more visibility. We have acquired a new content management system that handles most of the back end work on the site. This content management system works to simplify the work of updating the site and also making sure that all security certificates are up to date. THE NEWS LETTER With the new ADOBE license we are now able to design the newsletter in-house and share an e-version that can be accessed with in the comfort of your smart phone. This is also aimed at creating a wider reach for the newsletter but also reducing the cost of Monthly extraction of the same item.

Upgrading the Internet local services will help create a seamless experience for all Online activity. 1.
