About The Project Developing a pavilion helps understand the relationship between the human body and architecture. Developing architecture within an unused space is an opportunity to create uniqueness and character to that space. What to consider is how the pavilion will use light and shade, environment, and materials to its advantage. This pavilion allows light to fully be exposed inside. Placed on the courtyard in the Skiles Classroom Building, the pavilion can be accessed as a walkway for students and faculty walking to their destination. The design is reminiscent to the window pattern from the Skiles Classroom Building.

About The Project Using cubes, the project explored different iterations that can be used on a 8” cube. By voiding and adding different sized cubes, we regard to its form and massing to create an unified configuration. The project informs us the space used and how important space creates a building in the real world. The first variant uses the cubes in an orthogonal manner while the second allows non-orthogonal cubes that revolves the idea of colliding or overlapping. All models are to be within a 10” x 10” cube.

FIGURE GROUND MAP
ELEVATION DIAGRAM
About The Project This project investigates and engages with the Skiles Classroom Building at Georgia Tech and analyzed different types of architectural language explored. A figure ground map provided shows the surroundings and how it interacts with its neighboring building. The Skiles Building is placed roughly in the center of the campus and shows how many students go through or near the building daily between each class or daily activities. Through analyzing the precendents shown, the Skiles Building allows circulation through its structure held up by columns and its massing with its open courtyard. By observing the geometry and symmetry, the golden means proportions is evident.
