Promethean ActivInspire Step-By-Step Containers and Restrictors Containers and Restrictors are a great way to give instant feedback to students regarding correct answers. The idea is to drag text or other objects to a “container” and if they are dropped into the correct container, the object stays in place, and if not dropped into the correct container, the object bounces back to its original location. Instructional uses for Containers and Restrictors: • _______________________________________________________________ _____________________ • _______________________________________________________________ _____________________ 1.) Be sure to save your flipchart often as you complete these steps. 2.) Create your text or other objects that will be dropped into a container. 3.) Create your containers and label them. In the example below, the objects to be contained are the numbers, and the containers are the circles. The containers are labeled, “Odd #s”, “Both”, and “Prime #s”.
4.) Select the first object you want contained, and then open the Properties Browser. Under the Identification tab, name your object and give it a keyword that matches the name. Under the Container tab, choose “True” for the Return if Not Contained drop-down menu. Repeat this processfor all objects.

5.) Select the first container, and then open the Properties Browser. Under the Container tab, chooseKeywords for the Can Contain drop-down menu. For the Contain Words field, click the button to open the Keywords Editor. Click the Add button and type the first keyword that you want contained in this container. Remember to hit Enter after typing the keyword. Continue to click Add until you have added all the keywords that need contained in this container. Repeat this processfor all containers.

6.) Closeyour Browsers and test your containers and restrictors. Notice that once an object is contained, it can’t be pulled out. To return your objects to their original location, use the Reset Page tool
