We had lunch in this villa restaurant outside of Siena
Siena Tuscany vineyard countryside. On the upper right corner, are the hill-top medievel fortress towers of San Gimignano.
San Gimignano Inside the medieval walled town
San Gimignano Along the main throughways, there’s some nice shops. Hana’s in front of a traditional deli. I believe wild boar are on the menu.
San Gimignano We had about a hour and a half to walk thru this proposed World Heritage site but we never made it past the first town square because in the square sits the Gelateria Dondoli. Reputed to serves the best gelato in all of Italy. So naturally, we have to check it out for ourselves. That’s the owner with Henry.
San Gimignano I didn’t bought my gelato from Dondoli because: 1) I don’t buy into hypes. 2) All things being relative, you gotta try another shop’s gelato and compare it to the so-call “Gelato World Champion”. The Verdict: after our unscientific side-by side taste tests, the Dondoli gelatos ARE pretty damn tasty.
