Tash has started to donate her Monday
nights to “Orange Sky” - a charity organization/laundry service for the homeless. She also got a push bike after 15 years of not owning one and has been trying to get at least 5-10km in each week. She loves Sunday afternoon bike rides in the sun – plus it wears out the boys (no she didn’t have babies; they are her partner’s two cuties). Her partner also recently bought an auction prize at a charity ball for the rights to name a street sign down on the Gold Coast (he totally has to name it after her, right?).

Darren has parked the Scotch &
Cokes and Asahi, in preparation to scare the girls on stage in next year’s body building competition for the over sixty’s.

his first property with Custodian and his goal is to build his property portfolio.

of what he bought it for. Guess the price he sold it for? He is now riding his push bike to work
Christine
volunteers once a month for the homeless through Rosie’s Friends on the Street and has recently signed up to volunteer at schoolies this year which she believes will be quite the experience…
Terry
believes the Gold Coast is the 2nd God’s own after New Zealand. (From a New Zealand mainlander’s point of view, there are only 2 islands in New Zealand. There’s the South Island which is the mainland and Stewart Island. There was a 3rd island, but we don’t talk about that one as it’s now an outer suburb of Bondi).
Nathan S It has been an exciting year for Nathan, it all started with the purchase of his first property with his fiancé, a wedding in October and a month in Scandinavia thereafter. Nathan says the highlight so far has been his new position with JLF. Having practiced as a lawyer in commercial litigation for the last 7 years, it is both exciting and rewarding for Nathan to embark on a completely new career in the acquisitions team at JLF.
Trudy.
Matt W. says that the most exciting
thing in his life at the moment is that he has a break from mowing the lawn over the winter.
has been volunteering once a week in her daughter’s prep classroom and has been having some interesting conversations with 5 year olds lately – apparently “Dead Pool 2” is not scary at all! She also recently rediscovered her childhood love…..roller-skating.
Shaun’s Rugby Union Team
‘Griffith University Colleges Knights’ are currently leading the Gold Coast competition and are on track for their 3rd consecutive Grand Final in September!
Christiane has finally finished
renovating her little house. She bought an absolute dump 2 ½ years ago (and had her 2nd baby in that time), and renovations are due to be completed this Sunday.Victoria & Queen Mary.
Lauren
In May, had a family holiday to Hawaii. They explored the island of Kauai, built sandcastles on every beach they visited, ate enormous stacks of pancakes at diners and drank way too many Mai Tai’s by the pool. It was a fantastic trip! This is a picture of Lauren’s daughter Stella watching her dad surfing in Hanalei Bay.
Michael S. is currently
dedicating his spare time to becoming an even better fisherman – scary for fish, particularly in Moreton Bay. Species currently around Sandgate with fins all are shaking nervously -including Bream, Whiting & Flathead. Taylor are now concerned that he’s learnt how to put a treble stinger on the base of a 3 gang hook through a tempting Pilchard bait. Quality catches will be captured in photos for distribution to satisfy the hunger for updates. He is sure this news will generate throughout the corporation and JLF families. (The fellow below was released without harm).
B ernie
It’s been a solid 3 months in finance for Bernie, the approach has simply been “head down, bum up” as the sales team in the Victorian have gone “Gang Busters”. Well Done Troops! On a more disappointing note: his beloved “Blue Boys” have really struggled to hit the score board, let alone win a bloody game! The shining light was, “of course” playing against the Bombers in round 8 where a miracle occurred…. Yes the bottom of the barrel Blues pulled the Bombers pants down again.
Kimi is hoping to be able to do the 8 week challenge, without passing out.
Grant enjoys long walks on the beach, watching the sunset sitting on the beach,
reading a good book with a glass of red……Oops, sorry thought I was doing Tinder profile…. So who is Grant Kellerman really then? Well he’s just an average bloke doing the best he can in this crazy old world. Most important thing in my life is my family & friends. Going to watch my local footy whenever possible during Winter and local cricket during Summer with my mates. Support the Cats in the AFL, motorsport is my passion, ex Ski Bum that lived in Canada and resorts in Australia. Was in the Army as a young bloke. Best way to win me over - ice-cream, chocolate, cakes. My life dream - to own a Mr Whippy van.

David B
Something exciting that was happening was the world cup, it appeared at first that that a 60 year dream of England becoming champions was going to come to fruition, however that dream has now ended, much to the pleasure of my wife who was a bit over being woken up at 4 am with me screaming at the TV.
Blake’s brother and his wife have
just had their first baby bringing the niece tally to two! Note, Blake has NO such family plans and looks forward to a child-free immediate future. Also, after many years on the sidelines, he is about to dust off the old clubs and return from his social golfing retirement.
Carrie took her kids
to Taronga Zoo over the school holiday break.
Annette has a family re-union
coming up in October with family coming from interstate around 40 so far, staying at North Straddie, she is looking forward to catching up with the Grizzwalds!
Prue has been following Brothers
Rugby Union for over 40 years and this year they will take out the Club Championship which has not been done for several years - so exciting especially leading into the final shortly. Also Prue is going to be backing Croatia in the World Cup because she has watched as many games as possible and they are very exciting so GO Croatia!
Jen has really been focused on
Step number 6 “making time work for you”, so much so that she is looking at doing her helicopter licence so that she can make it to appointments in record times, and avoid the insane Melbourne traffic and urban sprawl. (She just needs to check if John/Dors are happy for her to put a helicopter on her expenses.)
Brad
Well I’m turning the big 60 in September.... yep hard to believe but true. I can now relate even more to our baby boomer clients that are fast approaching retirement and need to get things structured and sorted out. Time for a big celebration? …no, did that when I turned 50 (where did the last decade disappear to?) Just a nice dinner I think with family and friends would be perfect....and as long as there are not 60 candles on the cake, I won’t need a fire extinguisher to put it out! They now say 60 is the new 40, so bring it on.
John recently completed the
Kokoda Challenge – it was a fantastic experience with Toogoolawa boys. Ten started and 8 finished. It was a real special thing to do, walking through the night and seeing the lights of the Gold Coast from the mountains. The walk was difficult but not too hard, only in keeping body moving to stop locking up. We should try to enter 2 or 3 JLF teams next year and do as an annual event as it’s a wonderful challenge that ticks the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual boxes.
