BRITTANY
TALLEY Artist Statement This project presents photos of the different styles and changes in churches from the 1800’s to present. When thinking of church, you picture in your mind a brick edifice with a steeple and crosses, stained glass windows, a stairway, and sometimes a cornerstone. In our modern day churches some of these details have been removed or upgraded. Our modern day churches come in different shapes and sizes in comparison to earlier times. The most common modern day church comes in the form of a storefront. Older churches have more descriptive details with meaning as where modern day churches are designed for show. In this project you will see the generational changes of the church. This project will show foundation and structural changes. With the progression of time, it is becoming harder to see the craftsmanship that has been displayed in past time. These are a few pictures of various churches in my community.
ISSAC
ESSEX
Artist Statement I would be doing my 30 shots based on a story called, “The Shades of Black.” The pictures will show black people in their own way. Showing 30 different ways black culture expresses themselves. It is called the shades of black because of skin tone, and also shades is the metaphor for expressions. When we think about black people you may see a farmer, hairdresser, barber, grocery clerk, or a retired teacher, officer, or anything. When we think of black you think of the good times and bad times dealing towards family so inside the shades you will see different motions of blackness in the light of strength, love, passion, dripped in the motion of life in different spans.
