National ECO Schools Green Flag WINNERS......AGAIN! A massive WELL-DONE to Mrs Ellis and her amazing ECO Committee who helped the school achieve another National ECO School's Green Flag Award. The Assessor was extremely complimentary about our brilliant children who led this assessment and praised the many projects and educational experiences which support our ECO agenda. Roald Dahl Day A massive thank you for everyone’s efforts in supporting our Roald Dahl Dress-up Day and all the exciting activities that went on during the special week. In addition the school raised £200 to help seriously ill children and their families live more ‘marvellous lives!’ School Uniform – During the winter children will still have the opportunity to utilise our lovely outside spaces during playtimes, lessons and PE. We would really appreciate appropriate clothing during our colder months, particularly coats etc. PTA – Christmas Fayre – Monday 12th December – 3:30pm – 5:00pm We would like to thank our hard working PTA for kindly organising another fantastic Christmas Fayre. Each class will be organising / helping with stalls and there will be a huge range of items to buy & activities to do.....including taping Mr Sales to the wall.....again! (He escaped last year!) Thank you to everyone who helped or attended our scary 'Monster Disco'. It raised more funds towards our NEW outdoor play area / trail which will be built after Christmas. EVERY penny that our PTA raise goes directly into funding extra equipment for your children! Head Boy & Head Girl Congratulations to Barnaby Griffiths & Shannon Hamilton who are our respective Head Boy & Head Girl for the Autumn Term. Many of our Year 6 Senior Pupils presented their ‘hustings’ speech in front of their friends to tell everyone why they have the skills to fulfil these roles. Then all of the Senior Pupils and staff voted in true democratic British style. Both Barnaby & Shannon have already taken their duties seriously supporting our Open Day taking visitors around our lovely school (see picture below).
Potential School Closure in Extreme Weather
The school has only closed a few times during the history of the school, each time due to heavy snowfall. The advice is that the school will open if at all possible but if there is a snowfall… Children arrive at school at 8.55am as outside supervision may not be possible due to staff arriving late. Children are properly clothed – Wellingtons, coats, gloves, hats (all named please). Contact numbers are current. If the school closes during the day, parents will be contacted first – children may be sent to “safe” (friends’) house(s) etc by agreement. No child will be sent home without a safe arrangement being in place. Parents of the youngest children may choose to keep their children at home if they feel this is appropriate. No bicycles/scooters etc are to be brought to school. In case Chartwells are unable to provide hot meals, please send your child to school with a packed lunch. When the decision is made to close the School a text message will be sent to all parents as early as possible on the day.
Achievement Assemblies – Alongside our now usual Achievement Assemblies, we will also be hosting ‘Class led assemblies’ (same time – Fridays at 3pm). Please view the date list for more details. Sweets & Treats in School – Please can I remind you that it is School Policy NOT to give pupils sweets or chocolate/sugary treats in their lunchboxes and for treats for birthdays to friends in class. This request links to pupils who have food intolerances and allergies.
