School Uniform – During the Winter children will still have the opportunity to utilise our lovely outside spaces during playtimes, lessons and PE. We would really appreciate appropriate clothing during our colder months, particularly coats etc.

Potential School Closure in Extreme Weather

       

The school has only closed a few times during the history of the school, each time due to heavy snowfall. The advice is that the school will open if at all possible but that if there is a snowfall… Children arrive at school at 8.45am and enter school as usual (be careful of slippery paths etc.) Children are properly clothed – Wellingtons, coats, gloves, hats (all named please). Contact numbers are current. If the school closes during the day, parents will be contacted first – children may be sent to “safe” (friends’) house(s) etc by agreement. No child will be sent home without a safe arrangement being in place. Parents of the youngest children may choose to keep their children at home if they feel this is appropriate. No bicycles/scooters etc are to be brought to school. In case Chartwells are unable to provide hot meals, please send your child to school with a packed lunch. When the decision is made to close the School a text message will be sent to all parents as early as possible on the day. Children in Need – Friday 17th November Sherborne Primary School will be taking part in the Annual BBC Children in Need appeal. We will be hosting a non-uniform day on Friday 17th November with the theme of ‘Spotty!’. You are welcome to contribute £1 towards the charity on that day. The School Council will also be selling Pudsey badges during the week for £1 each.

PTA – Christmas Fayre – Friday 8th December 3:30pm onwards We are all looking forward to our now annual Christmas Fayre, kindly organised by our amazing PTA. The event will include lots of stalls, games and fun. It will also mean a chance to visit Santa in his grotto! You can kindly support this event by Decorating a Bottle and filling with sweets or by baking cakes. A flyer with more details will be sent home shortly. At this year’s fayre we are inviting anyone who would like to sell their own ‘crafty bits’ the chance to book a table at the Fayre. The charge for this will be £5 per table and you can register your interest by ‘liking’ the Sherborne Primary PTA Facebook Page and sending a private message to the page administrator. Also, thanks to everyone who supported our Bingo & the Monster Disco, both events were a huge success thoroughly enjoyed by the children (& adults with the Bingo!) Maths Week – October 2017 A huge thank you to everyone who supported our fantastic Maths Week (a few pictures below). The children thoroughly enjoyed all of the maths activities and events which made the week so special. This included a ‘Mile of Pennies’, Maths Hats. a ‘Maths Show’, scavenger hunts and a whole host of maths investigations! We all know how important maths in within our jobs and real life as an adult! Thank you to Ms Wakeling and all my staff for arranging this excellent opportunity for our pupils! Appeal for help with Outdoor Projects Mrs Ellis is appealing for help with some outdoor projects e.g. wildlife area and possibly a sensory garden. If any parents have any carpentry/gardening skills we could make use of, or if you are just able to give your time or ideas, Mrs Ellis would love to hear from you. She can be contacted on fellis@sherbornepri.dorset.sch.uk
