Induction Process Chronology ● 1st Meeting - Today - Very general things about the school & Tour + Lots of Questions ● Before the summer - Staff visiting pre-schools - liaison ● 2nd Meeting - June 11th - 9:15am - Hall - ‘School Readiness’ ● Class Allocation - W/c 17th June ● Induction Day - Tues 25th June - either am or pm session - new Year R Only ● W/c - 8th July - small groups to join our existing Reception Classes ● Home Visit - to ALL families - Sept 4th / 5th & 6th ● Part-time until - Fri 20th Sept ● Full-time in class - W/c Mon 23rd Sept ● 3rd Meeting - Mon 30th Sept - ‘How to Help Your Child Learn at Home’ - 6pm - 6:45pm (in your child’s class)



What you can do to help NOW…. ● Be as independent as possible…How to use the toilet & wash their hands ● Put on their coat, shoes, socks, wellies on their own ● Change for PE on their own ● Sharing / turn taking / Listening to others ● Listening to instruction for their safety and to enjoy amazing activities ● Read stories as often as possible (every night! If possible) ● Sing nursery rhymes ● Say number rhymes ● Playing games ● Use a knife & fork ● Reading signs when you are out & about / shopping lists ● Don’t be afraid to use letter names as well as sounds ● Further information at our next meeting with lots of ideas


Snacks and Drinks

Drinks - Children may bring their own drink of water (not fizzy) in a named bottle. Children have free access to water fountains at all times. Snacks – Free fruit and vegetables are provided for snack times during the morning session. A voluntary contribution of 50p per week allows the children to have a mid afternoon snack. Children help to prepare snack each day.


Milk Milk is available FREE to children under five and thereafter for a nominal fee. Order forms are available from the school office. Also order online at www.coolmilk.com Registration for milk must be received by 1st September 2019.


Lunch

We offer the choice of home packed lunches or hot school meals. We really encourage you to select the HOT MEALS From September 2014 all Foundation pupils became eligible for FREE high quality hot school meals, which provide healthy choices and seasonal menus. Details of how to order free school meals has already been sent to you in your school pack, please register with Chartwells (information within your pack).


Illness & Holidays ▪ If your child has been sick during the night your child must remain away from school for 48 hours after the last incident of sickness or upset tummy, we do not want to pass on bugs! Please let us know by telephone if your child is unwell or has an appointment, so that school is aware that they will not be attending that day. ▪ You will be informed by telephone if your child is unwell at school. Please ensure we have your telephone number and that someone on your list is contactable. ▪ Please let your child’s teacher know of any changes in circumstances at home that you feel may affect your child (however seemingly insignificant), so that we can best support them as necessary.

Starting School - Your Child’s First Day Arrive at 8:45am - go to your child’s class You are encouraged to help your child settle You are welcome to take personal photographs of your child BEFORE you come into class on this special day Your child needs - a coat, water bottle Please place their coat on their photo named peg You will collect your child from THEIR CLASSROOM (side gate to the EYFS Play Area)
