English - A surprise at the beach! Use the words, phrases and sentences openers in the box on the next page to help you to write a story.. The story is set at the beach. You and your friends find a cave in the cliffs and inside is a big shadow that frightens you all, but it turns out to be a little mouse! You go home before the tide comes in. It might help you to colour code the phrases before you start to help you to decide which sentences will be in each part of the story. Remember a story usually has an introduction, a build up, a problem, a resolution and an ending. Now for the challenges Make sure that your writing makes sense, that you have used full stops and capital letters and through about your spelling. Include expanded noun phrases in your story. Don’t forget to use a comma if you include more that one adjective (e.g. I ate the cold, yummy ice-cream.). Make some of your sentences longer by joining them using co-ordinating conjunctions, or add more information to them using subordinating conjunctions (we did these last week!) Try to include all four of the different sentence types in your writing.
